I don’t see why people can’t take the piss as they please. A joke isn't a gateway to saying whatever you damn well please. This is a point I myself emphasised in the first half of my sentence- which, for some reason, you’ve decontextualised and removed from your quote. People haven’t uploaded pornographic material- to accentuate your prior point about “decency”- or been directly abusive on this thread. These nicknames have been common parlance on here- primarily in jovial contexts- long before either you or I turned up on here. Throwing around amusing nicknames to describe rich media-approved writers and PR men isn’t the same as hurling malignant abuse at people in the vicinity. Would you take offence to people giving austerity-supporting politicians similar nicknames? |

Okay guys let's not fight. The whole point of this forum is that it's not a circle jerk. I know no one has banned Rushy, but we all don't need to dogpile on him over this. Meanwhile Rushy whilst I don't like using insults anymore, to be fair they are fairly common in all areas of DW fandom these days. It's because of the atmosphere the Fitzroy Crowd have created, with the ming mongs, don't your followers know that etc. It's all kind of rebounded on them, so it's not so surprising that it happens here and I'm sure if you were to go back over all your posts we'd find the same thing in some of your posts. Hell you insulted the big nosed goddess Shobna Gulati saying my taste is weird when I was gushing over her, and that is utterly unforgivable LOL.
I also admit I do wish more new who fans would join as I do miss being able to talk about things I like about new who, like the Beast, the Matt Smith era. Only problem is I'm banned from New Who forums because I was critical LOL.
This place will always be predominantly classic who forum, but let's not drive away all the new who fans.

It's not about who I hate, but Chibnall was someone who should never have been showrunner. At least there were good RTD/Moffat episodes. Also the nicknames you gave them in the poll are juvenile and insulting. Didn't you refer to a trans woman as an "it" just a few weeks ago? I'm not sure you can take the high ground. |

I was more worried Bojo the Bozo was coming back to Number 10 for a second... Then again, Cameron would fit in more with this year's aforementioned trend of people called David returning to their past work after years of it falling arse over tit. |

Yes, it could be considered childish or immature, but most humorous banter is, without which renders any environment sterile, boring, and incredibly lifeless.
And why would on earth would anyone be banned over their opinion of that?
This is a public forum for debate, not a head nodding society, and if those who take exception to such schoolyard horseplay object to it, then they are fully entitled to express that, even if I am of the personal opinion that they are perhaps being a little over sensitive.
No one is being "dog piled" either, this is hardly a place rammed with Twitter armies. It's a small community with a handful of people conversing in the back end of nowhere and differences in opinion are perfectly tolerable.

If I feel like having a bit of lowbrow fun at the expense of multi-millionaires whose wages I'm compelled by law to pay, and who've made it their business to intentionally ruin millions of people's enjoyment of something that's been a unifying, cross-generational cultural institution for longer than most people in Britain today have been alive, then I'll continue to do that to my heart's content without a shred of guilt. I care as much about their feelings as they care about mine.
I bear no ill will against anyone here and have no desire to see anyone leave, but if a community governed by this kind of sensitivity policing is what you're looking for, that particular niche is filled ably by the likes of Gallifrey Base and Reddit.
The only thing I do feel an obligation to apologise for is any role I might have played in the erosion of The Hive's irreverent spirit during the NuHive years. Things like censoring BeKind's infamous Terrance Dicks post and allowing you-know-who to talk me into certain moderation decisions spring to mind. Given the chance, I would handle those situations very differently today.

I remember reading a story once about a theatre reviewer who was supposed to be writing about the controversial comic Bernard Manning, but got drunk and turned up at the wrong venue (the production he arrived at was Fiddler On The Roof). When Topol started singing "If I Were A Rich Man" the reviewer got up and shouted "What are you going to do for a face when King Kong wants his backside back?" 🤣
