Of course their dragging the ass out of it, it's literally the only source of intrigue the show has at this point and it's balanced on the knife edge, of their own making,  of the race/gender of the actor they pick.

It's not even just a case of the traditional vs. SJW fans anymore. Increasingly, I'm seeing the woke crowd on Twitter and Reddit dividing further into smaller, antagonistic identity groups.

This is why I love taking breaks from the series. I can ignore all the toxic rubbish that goes with it. If people seriously think RTD was brought in simply to tell good stories then they're in for a VERY nasty surprise. It's not a TV show now, it's a political platform.

Pretty much. It is hilarious how the Fitzroy Crowd dug their own graves. Everything was in place in 2014 for them to take Doctor Who to new heights of popularity. 

In 2013 due to the massive history behind the show (50 years) the new mainstream popularity of geek culture and genre films and tv, New Who could have capitalized on that to become even bigger than the original ever was during the Capaldi era. 

They had an actor that appealed to old and new fans with Capaldi, Doctor Who was utterly beloved, all they needed was good stories. Not even classic stories, just good decent stories and they could have cashed in on the brand and actor. 

Instead they went out of their way to pander to a tiny minority at the expense of everybody else.

What's worse was it wasn't even because they were supposedly left wing. Moffat, Chibnall and co don't have a single political bone between them. As for being feminists, well remember Moffat is the one who boasted about shagging his way through the office like a mechanical digger, whilst Chibbers is the one who in the 00s before feminism became trendy, wrote stories about wank monsters, the main character using date rape drugs on women and forcing themselves on them, dick jokes, Richard Richard and Edward Elizabeth Hitler style chat up lines about cumming until you forget where you were and Cyber tits. 

These two middle aged "I want to prove I've still got it" faux fanboys thought they were keeping in with the young crowd, and pissing off the sad old anorak Ian Levine types. Instead they fecked off everyone and year by year their viewers crashed, but they were too arrogant to admit they failed, so they bought their yes men's lies "it's just overnights."
