Curse of Fenric. My depression kept getting to me during the second episode which caused me to stop watching temporarily. Managed to enjoy the third part without any problems, though. These McCoy stories are always good to watch. I have such a fondness for this era of the series.

These McCoy stories are always good to watch. I have such a fondness for this era of the series. I keep meaning to watch Fenric again, I have the special edition. I like the quirky elements of it - the way Millington is motionless at his desk when you first see him, and Parsons is excellent of course. Without him the horror/supernatural feel wouldn't have worked. I've been watching more of the Davo era. I'd like to watch The Visitation again, I think, it's a slightly underrated story.

Just finished part four. Really good story. The music by Mark Ayres is definitely a highlight as is the direction. I love Joann Kenny in her role as one of the vampire girls. It's a shame she died so young because she was rather talented and extremely easy on the eyes. McCoy gives a great performance and the story is full of action, intrigue and scares. NuWho productions have rarely if ever captured the eerie atmosphere of this story.

Only seen a couple so far this year, Spearhead last month and Battlefield a couple of weeks ago. Enjoyed both.

I watched a bit of Shada the other day, just to see the animation bits.
I quite prefer the score to the bombastic one used on the VHR release, but it's weird how they've used a lot of Dudley's theme from City Of Death. I'm inclined to think he would have written something completely original.

Attack. A favourite of many, but sadly not one of mine. I like the stuff in the sewers, but it crumbles when they get to Telos. Despite some decent action and a few interesting characters I don't really rate much from this story that highly. It's definitely my least favourite Cybermen story of the 80s although it's obviously not as bad as Revenge.

Watching Greatest Show at the moment. Very imaginative and one of the highlights of the era. Shame Flowerchild gets killed off so soon, though. I particularly enjoy the moody score by Mark Ayres and characters such as Mags and the Captain. 80s Who is the best!

Still on the Who from the start run-through I began in lockdown (and still not decided if I'll continue with nupoo when I get to the end McGann), here is tonight's (pretty good all told!) offering:
‘The Sea Devils’ ep 1: Funny joke by the Doctor about the Master putting on weight haha. Well timed return of Delgado and he’s excellent as ever from the off. Nice interplay between the three main cast, and especially Pertwee’s final ‘is there anything I can do’ line…nicely done here. A rare moment of the Doctor having money on him when he tips the lifeboat dude. Richfield excellent as Hart, good lines too. More comedy gold with the Clangers and the Master haha. Nice creepy first sighting of the sea devils. The workmen duo act on the fort – a first time for this type of thing in Who? Happens plenty after this of course, can’t think of one quite like this before though. Probably in part because it’s highly creepy. Great soundtrack for this one. Quality cliff-hanger too. 5/5

Interested in how I'll feel about this when I reach it in the run-through from the start...my memory is that it's good, but also that I've not always thought this...I'm concerned more about Revenge for sure though haha

Attack is awesome. In literally no universe is Nemesis better, and I say that as a McCoy fan.

Again her and Ace would have made a good couple. Not as much as her and the Chinese babe from Battlefield, but they could have definitely been a couple. I've always loved monster clowns. Clowns are scary with their undead faces and constant giggling. It amazes me that it took DW so long to play on that horror trope, but it was done really well. The monster clowns from this story were even ranked among the scariest of all time in a list by Entertainment Weekly, a big mainstream American magazine. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Greatest_Show_in_the_Galaxy#cite_note-7Take that Michael Grade, Paul Merton etc.

Attack is awesome. In literally no universe is Nemesis better, and I say that as a McCoy fan. Nemesis IS better, though. The countryside setting is beautiful and some of the action sequences are well shot. Ace kicks arse in the story too especially in part three. What exactly does Peri do in Attack? Also, the score is less intrusive in Silver Nemesis compared to Attack's music. I just watched Silver Nemesis and while I admit there are plenty of annoying flaws (the rubbish acting from some of the Nazis, the same Cyberman scream repeated over and over again, Ace saying something without her lips moving, naff visual effects) I still regard it as one of the better McCoy stories. I like watching it around this time of year even though it's supposed to be set in November. Obviously it was shot over the summer of 1988 and it definitely has a summery feel at times. It's a fun 80s romp with Nazis, Cybermen, a Sorceress, jazz and Dolores Gray. I'm a big fan of the "Cartmel Masterplan" so I enjoy the plot as well. I don't get this obsession with Attack on this forum. It's an absolute mess of a story and I say that as a JNT era fanatic.

Well Peri does disarm a homicidal police man whilst unarmed and with her own wits, but other than that I agree Ace is way better in pretty much every way than Peri. That said though I've always felt Silver Nemesis was a low point for the Cybermen for the following reasons. 1/ They are useless doofuses, who are killed in absurd comical ways. (Like the bit with the fire on the rockets.) 2/ The story could easily function without them. 3/ It's just a lazy retread of Remembrance but done so much worse. Attack meanwhile I like, but the Cryons I think let it down by being so annoying and stupid.

It certainly isn't on the same level as Earthshock, but it's entertaining nevertheless. I do agree with most of your points Burrunjor, but I just find so enjoyable. It isn't a classic (even I wouldn't go that far) but it gets extra points for entertainment value.

Both of them are pallid in comparison to Earthshock but I prefer Attack for it's interesting first half, a better guest cast with the likes of Maurice Colbourne and Brian ''Rotweiller'' Glover, Matthew Robinson's direction and one of the rare few times the Cybermen are portrayed as cyborgs and the horror of cyber-conversion are explored since the 60s. It's just a pisser it loses focus when it gets to Telos and even I'll admit Malcolm Clarke's music here is at best just an uninspired reuse of Earthshock's music without the formers atmosphere and at worst tinny and grating. Plus, as with most 80s Cyber episodes, even here it falls into the trap of having them easily defeated by handguns and getting battered.
