Battlefield.
Good, action packed opener to Season 26. Definitely my second favourite of the season after Fenric. There are a few dodgy moments and some scenes could have been handled better, but I like the premise and honestly the action sequences in part three and four are well staged. I dig the Destroyer, such a cool design and a brilliant voice. It's a shame he only appears late on in the story and gets killed after five minutes of screen time. The Brig kicks all kinds of arse in this story and Jean Marsh is brilliant as Morgaine. Bambera and Ancelyn make a great couple although Warmsley, the pub owner and at times Shou Yuing feel a bit redundant. All in all, a really enjoyable story. 7.5/10

‘The Time Monster’ ep 2: Good stuff with the aging etc. Courtney on fire here (was in ep 1 too). Kronovore is a great concept, nice dialogue for Pertwee too. Has Delgado lost his fake accent here? Can’t hear it in the scenes with Percival at any rate (and glad, it was shit). Master imitating Courtney (well, not really) is excellent and nice to see Benton get more of a run out here. Quite funny that scene even if Benton is f*cking inept ultimately as ever here. Cool climax. Sticking at 4.5/5

Just finished watching the Fury from the Deep animation, okay the animation wasn't great, but serviceable. Interesting how they changed Troughtons arsing around in the helicopter in an attempt to make it more dramatic. Master/wanted posters were dumb. The characters arms seemed a little too long too, they all looked like fricken Praying Mantises.
Other than that, not bad. Could've done without the "Hooray! Everyone lives!" ending though, undermined the original threat altogether.
Robson deserved to kick the bucket, he was a complete twat.
Mr Quill and Mr Oak being normal didn't seem right either, they were far too sinister to ever be normal in the first bloody place.
My grumbles aside, this is still Classic "base under siege" stuff however.

Survival.
I wanted to watch this again before my BritBox expired. I actually enjoyed it a lot this time. I particularly like the first part and the creepy atmosphere. The absolute legends Hale & Pace make a memorable cameo in the store scene and Ace's confrontation with Kara in the park is well directed. The London setting and the fact that it's all shot on location instead of the studio makes it feel like a superior production. Dominic Glynn's score is a memorable part of the story, which sounds more like it belongs in the early 90s than the late 80s. That's another thing about Survival. It feels ahead of its time I noticed. The effects are good and I think Ainley gives his best ever performance as The Master. He's quite creepy when he's possessed and I love the scene where he confronts the Doctor at the ancient ruins and says "we shall become animals." Scary stuff indeed. The animatronic cats are a bit weak and I find the ending to be a bit abrupt and I'm also not quite sure why The Master needed an army of acne ridden teens for, but all these are minor issue. It's mature, feels modern (but doesn't carry the awful elements of modern television) and it feels like the series was heading in an interesting direction. I still don't think it's top five McCoy, but it has climbed up my list considerably since the last time I watched it.
7/10

I think it should had ended as soon as the first episode "An Unearthly Child" went from the copper outside the junkyard to the inside of a School Hall. From that very moment, all innocence was lost. FOREVER.

I've not watched any for a while, kind of got a bit burned out by the time I watched Colony in Space and need a break. I'll be getting back into it soon though.

‘The Time Monster’ ep 3: It was all going so well until the flapping which is weirdly annoying. All the time-f*cked camera action stuff is good, acting too (Courtney yet again). Interesting moment when the High Priest asks the Master what he wants – usually we’d never get the real answer for a bad guy, they just do evil because they can – but he replies ‘Knowledge!’. A telling moment in the character’s development and the first time it is stated quite as boldly as this. Doctor’s experiment is amusing, if basically ‘filler’ in the episode. ‘Get on with it you 17th century poltroons..!’…I might use that at work sometime. Still engaging me, 4.5/5

‘The Time Monster’ ep 4: Lucky escape for Yates there haha. Love the Masters Tardis interior, especially the central control and I prefer it to the Doctor’s renovations. Jo excellent in this episode – it’s been surprisingly well-paced without too much padding so far across the 4 episodes actually. Love the Tardis in Tardis paradox stuff (love it in ‘Logopolis’ as well of course). Great how Jo just immediately adopts referring to the Tardis as a ‘she’ after questioning it…’I’m sorry for your coccyx too Miss Grant…’, superb. Levene really is good as Benton here, not too much, but enjoying the dialogue. Delgado also loving the lines (and they’re worth loving)…’You just stand there and look pretty [Benton]’ – it’s an episode filled with great patter. The backwards trick by the Master is also good stuff. And a creepy ending too. Super stuff 5/5

Vengeance on Varos
I really want to like this, but it's just not that engaging to me. The direction is so uninspired and the sets are some of the worst I've seen in the show. The script isn't too bad, but there's a lot of bad acting and the story starts to lag in part two. One thing that I absolutely adore about the story though is Peri. She is unbelievably sexy in that blue leotard. She was a lovely distracting from the drabness of the rest of the story.
10/10 for Nicola's hotness 4/10 for the story.

The Two Doctors.
A fun story with some cracking dialogue and excellent characters. The Spanish setting is the star of the show although the guy that plays Shockeye is tremendous too. Nicola looks sooooo hot as she always does and the Sontarans make their best appearance since The Time Warrior. It is a bit too long though and dark in places. It lacks warmth but I like the harsh, gritty reality of the Saward era. It's best to watch this on a hot sunny day with a nice can of Pepsi. I also have a lot of fondness for this story as it was one of the first classic stories I ever watched back in 2008. It impressed me a lot back then and I still get a kick out of it now.
7.5/10

‘The Time monster’ ep 5: Excellent. The script continues to sparkle – hats off to Sloman, Letts and Dicks, Ingrid Pitt is superb (a rare sighting of a cat in Who on her lap too), Cormack as Dalios is also superb. Nice bi-play and flirtation between Galleia and the Master. Classic stuff, no dull moments, 4.5/5

‘The Time Monster’ ep 6: Here’s David Prowse, masked up as usual and being butch. Kronos skit is a bit naff, but lots of innovative stuff that sticks in the canon here like Tardis as female/female pronoun, indeed Tardis as a bigger feature than just the way to the plot/time of the plot and that mix of the ordinary village in Cambridgeshire and the costume dress of Atlantis. Oh, and the start of multiple ways of destroying Atlantis/generally f*cking about with history. Lovely stuff. Nice scene when Jo thinks she’s in heaven too haha, ‘groovy’ lol. And the Doc’s interminable soft spot for the Master, which of course ultimately gives way to that travesty of RTD’s overblown Disney treatment of the two of them in nupoo. Quality series finale, especially final line from Benton. 5/5

‘The Three Doctors’ ep 1: Relatively mundane opening and they take their time over it. Visual effect for the ‘disappearing’ is shoddy really. Love Lethbridge-Stewart’s inquisitive ‘Oh’ when the prof suggest ‘the others’ (Russians) have seen the print outs haha. The loathsome Bessie theme returns, argh! Nice nod to fans of the old show to get Pertwee to say ‘When I say run Jo, RUN!’ a la Troughton – sets things up nicely. Quite good to have the regular cast (Manning, Pertwee and Courtney) do the initial exposition, works well since they are so fluent acting with one another now. Blobs look pretty dated now it has to be said. Quite different timelord get up for the first time, the start of the descent to cybermen with full academic collars ffs. Troughton’s gradual appearance is great and he’s on top form. First psychic link stuff in the programme between timelords (I think!)…’Show me the earliest Doctor’. Earliest. EARLIEST. Just saying. Hartnell cameo great of course. All good fun, 5/5

‘The Three Doctors’ ep 2: That look from Courtney when he spots Troughton…superb. Think it’s sometimes accused of being fluff, but all the stuff with ‘event horizon’ etc. is pretty good really. Sadly, the Bessie theme tune also exists in the world of anti-matter. Courtney’s face as he acclimatises to the Tardis is superb. ‘I’ve always had a great respect for his advice’. Lovely line. Followed by a great cliff-hanger, even if the effects couldn’t *quite* do it justice. 4/5
