If I'm not mistaken, the new standalone edit of Terror of the Vervoids comes in at just short of 90 minutes. I can think of no more appropriate send-off for this talentless shithead than to spend his moment of glory celebrating the work of Pip and Jane Baker.
Someone should organise a watchalong party.

Count me in. I'm also going to be listening to Back to Black when Neil Patrick Harris' episode is on. PS it looks like Sophie Aldred has replaced Barrowman as the lead in Torchwood. At least judging from the latest cover. He is nowhere to be seen and she is front and center for a new miniseries. If it sells well that could be the direction they're going in. I will say Big Finish don't give up do they? They're carrying on B7 without Paul Darrow, Jacqueline Pearce, Gareth Thomas and now they are carrying on Torchwood without Barrowman. It would honestly take the end of humanity for them not to squeeze every single drop of money out of DW and British cult sci fi. I wonder if Neil Patrick Harris will get his own series too?

So far, the plot synopsis reads like this:

They're carrying on B7 without Paul Darrow, Jacqueline Pearce, Gareth Thomas and now they are carrying on Torchwood without Barrowman. To be fair, Blake's 7 has a lot more potential even without its lead actors. There's a whole established universe, settings and conflict. Torchwood is just a spinoff in a pre-existing universe that's only there to capitalize on Barrowman's popularity. It's inextricably linked to him. The brand name on its own means nothing.

Torchwood always struck me as being very cynical, very much a "false" spinoff, in that the Whoniverse already had a pre-existing similar organisation (UNIT) and Captain Jack was introduced in series 1 and in a grand total of 5 eps seemingly solely for the sake of getting his own show. Giving Sarah or K9 a spinoff is one thing, but this always struck me as very illegitimate.

It was to be called Excalibur, but no one would buy it, so he decided to spin it off DW.

This may sound like a massive pet peeve, but Ace's costuming in Power of the Doctor looks hilariously bad.
Ace is a rebellious tomboy grown up. So apparently her only options are
1) A business suit 2) Literally her 1980s outfit.
Like, what??? Wouldn't Ace just wear a hoodie or something? Assuming that she has to look professional as a CEO (which I will never believe Ace would become), she could still wear something that's both presentable and comfy, like the Seventh Doctor himself used to.

Ace becoming exactly the type of person she'd hate is girl power according to a certain Blairite showrunners 90's addled brain.

I agree dressing her up in clothes she used to wear as a rebellious teenager is just sad. It makes Ace look like Al Bundy dressing up in his Polk High football jersey. IE someone whose never grown up in the worst possible ways. Why is Ace even in this story? This is just such pathetic desperation. Why is Tegan back? It's nothing but trying to cash in on the past that Paul Cornell, Chris Chibnall himself and others in this clique until recently shamelessly trashed? I'm actually offended as a classic era fan as basically they think that I'm such an idiot just seeing Ace again will make me go SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE. Apparently things like consistent characterisation, new and exciting stories, those mean nothing to me. Just crowbar a 50 something woman into clothes she used to wear as a teenager and get her to hold a baseball bat in a recreation of a scene from almost 40 years ago and my simple brain will be thrilled and to use a phrase from the obnoxious DWM "punch the air."

Apparently all the classic actors were conned into appearing in this shitstorm by being told this was the 60th anniversary...

I understand the problen people here have with this, but I never got to grow up in a time where Ace was a companion so seeing her in an episode on the day it actually transmits complete with her baseball bat and 80s jacket is actually quite special to me as she's my favourite companion. I want them to respect her character and not have her admit she was emotionally attracted to the Doctor all along. As cute as it is to imagine, I don't want Ace giving Jodie a big kiss.

In b4 they pretend Fenric never happened or have the Doctor apologise for it again.

I've been keeping NuWho at arm's length for so long that the possibility never even occurred to me. This is actually what he's going to do, isn't it? Adding implied sexual tension to the Doctor/Ace relationship in one last "f*ck you" to the fans.

I know Chibnall's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'd like to think even he is above shipping Seven/Ace, who obviously had a very schoolmaster/student dynamic.

Moffat made Roger Delgado and Jon Pertwee gay lovers. NOTHING is beyond these hacks.
