Never heard of him. Ironically I'm disappointed in this choice as it means that the revival might linger on a bit longer, but for the wrong reasons. He is a young, good looking guy so he will probably win round that audience.

Thank f*ck thats over, it was getting to be a real pisstake with how long they were dragging the arse out of the reveal. Then again it's the sole thing of intreast the franchise had.

I really didn't care who they picked, I'm not watching ever again unless something is done to fix the fundamental problems of nuwho. He reminds me a lot of Smith, in that he's a young actor, who's not done a lot of work prior. At least he's got the advantage of the bar being set so low by Jodie that unless RTD totally drops the ball he'll do alright.

Sadly though his higher is a likely sign that ol Fathead is not going to be doing anything groundbreaking. He's the kind of actor could slot in right along side Tennent and Smith, in the pretty young Doctor section. I know people will use his skin colour to try and justify his picking as "groundbreaking" but that really doesn't matter to me. It's his acting and the shows writing that do, and if were are going to follow the same patterns the shows been dancing tow since 2005, its just formulaic and a waste of our time.

I'm amazed at how little interest there is in this. Not seen anyone I know talk about it on FB. I even told Claudia Boleyn on her insta and she hasn't got back to me yet, or tweeted about it on social media or anything like that last time I checked and you're the first person to comment here. I know we're not exactly the biggest forum, but still I remember when Jodie was cast, it absolutely erupting even here. 

Good luck to him. I'm not going to wish failure on a young up and coming actor LOL, but I agree with you this just seems like RTD doing exactly the same thing again. He's a young conventional lead who RTD can use for conventional hero and romance stories, rather than DW stories. That coupled with RTD filming in modern day London with Daleks shows it's just more of the same old for these all about change people. The only difference truly is that he's black which is ironically irrelevant to us old white supremacists on the hive LOL. (Even then though Jo Martin kind of took that crown from him. Also wasn't one of Chinballs 100000 pre Hartnell Doctors a black guy too?) 

He'll have to be the best actor in the universe for me to get over the Timeless Children crap.

Buffy boards haven't picked up on it either. Normally they pick up any bit of DW news. RTD coming back generated more of a buzz than this. I wonder if it's just the good weather.

Starting to see a bit more of a buzz about it now, though I've also seen a lot of people say they will not be watching it regardless. They really are going to have to go some to bring back that audience though. How low do you think Jodie's finale will be? Or do you think that the overload of old characters will be enough to save it?

No idea, classic haters won't be interested, many classic fans like myself have forsaken it and some have forsaken the classic also. Some who are interested are demanding the rewriting of the Timeless Children or their not interested.

Frankly so much damage has been done by the Jodie era to the fandom, with so much fracturing, infighting and out right quitting, combined with general mainstream apathy, its hard to say. I think it will do better then anything thats come out in the last year but thats it.

Seems I was right about it being someone not being adverse to playing gay roles, I just hope Fathead doesn't have him in a hoodie with trackie bottoms, talking patrois one minute and doing a David Tennant twat act the next complete with gurning, but I guess that might be a bit too much of an ask.

By the end of his era, I fully expect laserbeams to be shooting from his eyes and for him to be able to to stretch his f*cking limbs like Mr Fantastic from the Fantastic Four.

You gotta feel sorry for the guy, his careers barely started and Fatheads assigned him as his new twink complete with shit scripts and dumb deux ex machinas.

Still, it'll be amusing seeing all the Jodie fangirls all grumbling about this casting, we can all yell "RACISTS!" at them.

Just wish they'd gone for someone a little older instead, but at least it ain't Tovey.

You know, the classic era, while not perfect, had some down right amazing writing.

With lines like that, and the only complement an era's can give a story are the f*cking lighting... This show has fallen so low, even dirt looks upper class to it.

It was strange that I learned about it here, not even on Twitter.

I'm willing to give this a chance, as I always welcomed a Doctor of colour (I always felt that Colin Salmon could have been a great fit).

RTD back in the saddle, the Doctor rocks a cock again...maybe there's hope.
