I don't hate Jodie. Who knows what we'd get out of her if she had better writers and direction. Look at Peter Davison - when his writers sucked, he was a bland cardboard box. But when he had good writers, he shined. Sorry, I really, REALLY fancy Jodie now after hearing her sing. (Seriously listen to her singing, it's gorgeous.) Still she is woefully out of her depth playing the role. She should aspire to be a bland cardboard box because that would be far superior to anything she's ever done in the part. I don't think any good writing could save her. She'd maybe be semi passable with the best scripts but even then I doubt it. I can't remember who, but someone said that if Jodie were doing the scene in Ark in Space, where the Doctor goes on about indomitable humans, she'd probably scrunch her face up, hunch over, put her hands on her hips and deliver Bob Holmes speech as quickly as she could and in a faux zaney voice. She's what happens when you put agenda above talent and allow nepotism to dictate who should play a leading role. I don't think Jodie would shine even in a "bisexual light"... |

Be fair. At least the old show had companions whose actors didn't go round exposing themselves/running nude auditions/molesting people in nightclubs, so I suppose it makes sense they now go to them in a desperate attempt to keep the viewing figures over 2 million.

Okay let's not get into whether not the actresses look good anymore. Sorry I'm not judging anyone here, I just have to be consistent with this considering I made such a stink about it happening to others like Amy and Gaga and I pulled those asshats on Anoraks over hot coals for doing it to Little Mix. NOT that anyone here's comments are even a tenth as bad.)
Really it's more just that I can see it going that way, and obvs say what you want, I won't ban you (not that I could LOL) I just feel if I didn't say something here, I'd look like a bigger hypocrite than the man who wrote Cyber tits, wank monsters, our Jack the lad character using date rape drugs and wondering if women wank so hard they forget where they are, claiming to be a feminist champion.

For the record when I met Sophie Aldred she was absolutely lovely to me. I just think that she and the others really need to stop thinking they have to get behind Jodie just because she is a she.
Also I think they are being set up for a fall. It's painfully obvious that the show is dying. Even all the Magnus Greel shouting it was a success tactic has been dropped. To me Chinballs and the others might bringing all of this old stuff back so they can say "well when we brought back oldies like the Sea Devils and Ace and Tegan and made explicit references to the old series then viewers caved, showing we should just keep ignoring the past."
Mr Tardis is already saying that Sea Devils episode failed because it was written to pander to guys like us, who just want adventure, sci fi and monsters. Already getting his excuses in and somehow twisting it to be our fault.
