Miami Vice: "Love at First Sight"
Sonny goes video dating in order to catch a serial killer who is murdering her dates. Another dark and gritty episode with some nice moments of tension. There's a well filmed car montage in there as well some lovely scenes with Sheena Easton. My only problem with the episode is Iman's performance as the serial killer. She's not the best actress to be honest. Everything else is superb, though. One of the best episodes from Season 4.

Series 7 of Hale and Pace.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
I decided to stick the series I've watched the least earlier and came to the conclusion that it's absolutely fokking shite. I love Series 1-6 of Hale and Pace, 3-6 being the golden age for the program. Series 6 was great in particular so Series 7 is a complete slap in the face on the back of that. Many of their popular characters don't appear, the titles are crap and unimaginative, the stand up stuff is embarrassing and the sketches themselves are utter tripe. Also, the film footage looks worse than the footage in the early part of the Pertwee era and it was made 20 odd years after that! It's unwatchable to be honest, probably as unwatchable as Whittaker's Who. Stick with the 1988-1993 Hale and Pace. The 1994 Hale and Pace are imposters.

Miami Vice: Missing Hours.
I like this one. It's like the X Files before that was even a thing. I certainly admire it for doing a science fiction storyline with a creepy vibe. It's all a bit mental with serious talk of the existence of UFOs, abductions and memory loss associated with it. Not a popular episode with MV fans, but to me it's great fun and actually ahead of its time as it feels more like a mid 90s show.

Coming Next starring Hale and Pace, Chris Barrie and the gorgeous Carla Mendonça. Never heard of it before, but it's quite funny.

Still on Lucifer. I hate to say it's really gone downhill in season 5. It's a shame as the first 4 seasons are excellent. (I'd recommend them to Iank in particular as the show is basically just Elementary with a bit of a supernatural twist.)
Sadly I think it's just gone beyond its shelf life now. The initial idea was quite thin. It's just the devil solving crimes. Kind of a modern day Randall and Hopkirk Deceased. The thing is though Randall and Hopkirk is not like Angel. IE you can't have them fight Demons, monsters, Vampires and so on, so eventually it has to come to an end. With Lucifer it seems they've gone past that point and are struggling hard not to introduce too many supernatural elements so it doesn't become a Buffy type series, but struggling to have Lucifer still just solve regular crimes.
I also think Tom Ellis being made associate producer is a bad thing. He is an excellent actor. His performance as Lucifer carried the show, but in season 5 I think he's gotten a bit too self indulgent. Tom Ellis clearly fancies himself a singer LOL and it shows as now in every fokking episode Lucifer bursts into song. It's like Jon Pertwee who insisted on always having car chases and fight scenes. Tom doesn't have a bad voice to be fair, but it just seems too random and often drags the arse out of everything.
Sadly this culminated in a musical episode. Buffy and Xena really have a lot to answer for for making musical episodes in genre series popular LOL.
Yeah I'm saying nothing LOL. (Though Maxil you might like the second cover, not so much for the music, but eh other reasons.)
Having said that though Lucifer is still nowhere near as bad Doom Patrol. At least they haven't had sex ghosts, or told us how Lucifer wanks using bed sheets instead of his hand like a true masterbator does (seriously that was a convo in Doom Patrol,) or forced in cringe inducing politics about how white men have everything easy, so there's that, but sadly it is a mere shadow of its former self at this point. I'm not even sure I can be arsed reaching the end of it now?
What is it with the 5th season of American genre shows. That's often when they lose it. Buffy, Xena, Lucifer, Once Upon A Time, Babylon 5, during the 5th seasons of all of these once great series they all went off the rails. Angel and Supernatural both of which had arguably their best years in season 5 seem to buck that trend, but for the most part my 5th season it turns to shit theory is holding up.

Well am I glad that I kept watching Lucifer. That last episode tonight about Detective Douche being caught up in a gang war was fokking hysterical. I won't reveal too much because if anyone wants to watch it, you really should avoid spoilers. It's brilliant. Lucifer was back to his old crazy self and the story was hilarious. Honestly I was laughing out loud. Sadly though it was a one off story and I think we are going to go back to the tedious God story arc. Still it shows that the show when it sticks to the original formula can still knock it out the park.

Nearing the end of Lucifer now. I must say the last two seasons overall are pretty weak. It never plumbed the depths of Doom Patrol or Legends of Tomorrow, but it definitely descended into tedious soap opera crap by the end, and sorry Tom Ellis I love you as an actor, but dear god stop fokking singing! Every episode he breaks out into song! He's got not a bad voice. He can carry a tune, but dear god, he's not even a professional singer, so I don't know why he is so desperate to show off his singing chops all the time.
FFS James Marsters was in a band that released records, played concerts and he only sang TWICE in 7 seasons of both shows in an episode where everybody else was singing. Jensen Ackles and Briana Buckmaster are wonderful singers who have never sung in Supernatural. (Jensen famously mimed to Eye of the Tiger as a joke but that's it. To be honest I preferred his mimed rendition of this song to Tom Ellis murdering classic songs LOL. At least it was it fun.)
It's sad but it's true that most American genre series tend to go on too long. Overall though I'm not impressed with DC right now. Snyder cut and the first 4 seasons of Lucifer were excellent, but the Flash has been boring for the past two seasons, Legends has been obnoxious, offensive, shit for its past three seasons, and Doom Patrol should never have been made in the first place. (I know I harp on about it, but Doom Patrol is like the worst elements of all genre series combined. It has the awful, bigoted, Prick from the Young Ones politics of Jodie era who, the focus on tedious soap opera from the worst seasons of Lucifer, and the Flash, the cringey focusing on kinky monster sex from seasons 6 of Buffy, the painful attempts at being wacky like Legends, the meta crap of Supernatural and Xena, and the tying yourself in knots like the worst seasons of Angel by giving the leads children and things that will age them and make it difficult to have adventures. )
At this stage I'm actually glad that Marvel movies and tv are kicking their assess despite my dislike for the MCU. At the very least, and I have to give it credit for this, the MCU has by and large not lost sight of the fact that it is a sci fi and fantasy franchise. Okay I don't particularly like a lot of it, and it has gotten formulaic, but still the MCU hasn't for the most part bothered with race baiting, gender baiting shit.
The one exception is Wanker Land in Black Panther, but apart from that, surprisingly given the state of Marvel comics, it has mostly been about adventure. DC tv shows however are all written by self loathing fanboys who either fancy themselves as the new Gene Roddenberry and crow bar in their politics in the most obnoxious, condescending, awkward way possible, or focus on writing about relationships and tedious every day shit because they are scared of being looked down on as genre writers.
Ironically in this respect Marvel represents the way forward and I never thought I'd say that, but at least the MCU shows that you can put the focus on adventure, sci fi and monsters and have success. It's only problem is that it is too formulaic and scared of taking any risks. We need a big, unconventional sci fi hit like Planet of the Apes (1968) to really improve things for the genre.

Only two episodes of Lucifer left and it is so toe curlingly bad I am almost not sure I can finish it. I will as it's only two, but the third last episode with Eve and Maze's wedding was such utter shit.
It was woke garbage, with Adam the first man coming back and learning about toxic masculinity, but you know I could have lived even with that if it wasn't for the fact that it was so f*cking boring. I barely made it to the end of it.
All I can say is I am not surprised that the show is finished.

Such a shame as I honestly think you'd love the first 4 seasons. They were Elementary with a fun supernatural twist. The last two seasons though are such shit. Apart from one brilliant episode about Dan, it was all mopey, emo crap. Damn shame. I think I might give Elementary a rewatch soon. See how that type of thing is done properly. Like I said I really hope the Batman is as good as everyone says it is as I am losing all faith in DC.

Man, I miss Joel. He made such fun Batman movies. Now it's all emo and gloomy. Still looking forward to it, though

Going to give Stranger Things a try tonight. Heard it starts good but goes to shit later, but hey the same is true of pretty much all series. As long as it doesn't go to shit as badly as Doom Patrol or Lucifer did then I'll be happy.
