Repeats of Sapphire And Steel on London Live. S&S is so weird, creepy and wonderful - I really hope they never attempt a remake.

I'm watching Mr.Bean on a particularly wet evening where I live. Classic comedy.

The Stranger. A complete stranger wanders up to a happily married husband and father and explodes a bomb in the form of a secret his wife has been keeping from him. And when she then disappears, the husband then finds the layers of deception keep unfolding. Pretty good mystery series based on a book, halfway through it, good cast including Richard Armitage from Spooks, Dervla Kirwan and Anthiny Head (looking old, Christ! ).

Finished Mr.Bean. I find it strange that they started out filming the exterior scenes on OB and then halfway through switched to film and then back to OB towards the end. Film makes everything look about twenty years older. Videotape stuff is very pleasant to look at I find.

I suppose it comes down to whatever the director prefers.

I'm watching Mr.Bean on a particularly wet evening where I live. Classic comedy. Big fan of Rowan Atkinson. He is a really special talent. Just had a rewatch of his other great creation Blackadder and it still holds up, but its's incredible how different Blackadder is to Mr Bean. The best version of the Blackadder character for me is the third one. He is just so horrible, vile and evil in every way, and never gets punished for it. To me he's what I think of when I think of Blackadder, the caddish rogue who always comes out on top. Having said that though the fourth series is the best overall as it has a lot more gravitas to it. It's funny when you look at the original Blackadder though when Baldrick is the smart one. I'm glad they changed it, but it was still quite an interesting series in its own right. People might think Ben Elton is a wanker (and in a lot of ways he is.) You have to give him credit for helping Blackadder find its feet.

Also I often felt it was a missed opportunity to not have him in The Young Ones: University Challenge. I mean, you have Rik and Ade obviously, Smith and Jones and Fry And Laurie, if they had him and Tony Robinson, they'd have had all the big players of the alternate 80s comedy scene in there.

Caught a bit of Dempsey and Makepeace earlier. Glynis Barber is SO hot in the show. I loved her Blake's 7 too.

I had a dream where I was watching a Red Dwarf episode last night. It was the one where they discover the garbage pod. Waiting for God I believe.

X-Files: Drive. Mulder is taken hostage by a desperate man who has to keep moving west at increasingly high speeds - or his head will explode. This is a cracking episode with a killer premise and some fantastic sequences (the whole scene at the guy's farm with Scully and the CDC team is wonderfully atmospheric. And I love Scully getting to know how Mulder feels when she proposes to the CDC guy, "What if we're not looking for a virus? What if what we're looking for is a sound?" The guy just looks at her and goes, "Seriously?"

Watched The Ash Tree last night on BBC 4 - vintage British ghost story, featuring the delightful Lalla Ward. The classic BBC MR James adaptations were some of the scariest things on the telly in the '70s and although pretty tame by modern standards, it's still creepy and very atmospheric. Loved it! Next week: The Signalman by Charles Dickens.

First 2 eps of season 20 of South Park on Netflix, all new to me. Very funny so far, with an ongoing story arc of a vitriolic online troll. Brilliant twist at the end of episode 1 that it's not Cartman as you - and everyone else - assumes, but Kyle's Rabbi dad!
