Poldark (1975) Surprisingly engaging romantic drama.
No interest in watching the more up-to-date version.

The Simpsons - Boy Scoutz N the Hood
I think it was Brian that said he found this one overrated, but I think it's great. The Broadway style song "Springfield" is a bit cringe but I certainly have no problem with the rest of it. Probably my favourite episode of Season 5 next to Cape Feare.

Going to order an 1980s show called "Moondial". It looks quite good to me and I've not heard about it before today. From Google:
A young girl, Minty, is staying with her aunt after her mother is injured in a car accident. She finds a moondial that enables her to travel back in time, where she becomes involved in the lives of two children from the previous centuries.

Started Pennyworth yesterday.
Great series so far. Loving Paloma Faith as the psycho bitch villain. I might be a little bit biased in her favour LOL, but she does do mad really well.
Her character is a member of a fascist organisation and I love the way they made her just a pathetic, needy, vicious little creep. Quite a good observation of what a lot of these ex Nazis were actually like. They were sad, failures who joined the cause because it gave some kind of meaning to their worthless lives LOL. That's why I always felt Davros and even the Daleks themselves who were weak, mutated, ugly, ridiculous looking robots were a better metaphor for the Nazis than say the Empire in Star Wars.
Darth Vader is too genuinely powerful and charismatic LOL.

Moondial episode 1.
Blimey, that was good. Very creepy for a children's show too. Older kids shows tendedto be more mature than today's dross. Even the stuff I grew up with was dumb downed in comparison. I love the haunting score and the fabulous direction. It's shot entirely on location AND on video tape, so it looks good and feels like McCoy era Who (it came out in 1988 and features time travel). Good stuff.

Moondial (overview)
What a wonderful, surreal shows with excellent, dream-like imagery and a charismatic lead. Perfect 80s television with a chilling atmosphere. I dig the night for day scenes the most. Somehow it looks creepier than proper night. The score is particularly haunting too, with a kick ass theme tune and an effective use of synthesizers. Deserves at least a 9/10. Solid television for kids and grown ups alike.

Ha ha, I signed up to Netflix for a month yesterday. Only got a Smart TV a month since, so not been able to before. They've got all of ST Voyager on there, which should keep me busy and will save me a lot on discs (I wanna see it again but not sure I care about owning it) as well as Scream season 2, which isn't even on DVD. Whether there'll be enough to keep me after that I don't know. We'll have to wait and see. I could also get Stan, but I've no idea what's on it. Maybe if I ditch Netflix one month I might see what they've got.

Cobra Kai is the only reason I have Netflix. The best modern show out there at the moment. It's heavy on 80s nostalgia, has Elisabeth Shue and also old school metal and pop. And it's also a sequel series to one of the best movie series of the 1980s If NuWho was done like this show then I don't think any of us would be complaining.

First episode of a Japanese anime called High Rise Invasion on Netflix. A teenage girl - the Japanese do love their teen girls in school uniforms - suddenly finds herself in a weird world composed entirely of linked skyscrapers with no way down to the ground, where people are hunted by mask-controlled stalkers trying to kill them or, preferably, force them to kill themselves. Never seen an anime before, very weird but pretty compelling so far. I'm intrigued.

The Following episode 1. Saw the first season of this back in the day, they never showed the rest. Will now be able to see all three without clogging up my shelves thanks to Stan. They also have Buffy, which I watched the first few episodes of season 3 on. Tried starting season 3 on DVD a few weeks back but they look terrible. Have heard there are issues with the HD, but so far it looks spectacular to me, a massive improvement. Even if there are a few issues, surely they can fix them and release it on Blu ray? The DVDs - especially the first few seasons - are borderline unwatchable now.

Started watching Reality Z on Netflix last night. If you feel like you've seen this show before, it's because it's a Brazilian remake of the British mini-series Dead Set, about reality show contestants sheltering in the set from a zombie apocalypse. It's been a long time since I saw the original, and the first ep was pretty good, so I may keep watching. It's very well made.
