It looks like...yet another attempt by RTD (two in a row) to write his own version of Blink.

This series does as if there was ever any doubt show you how RTD doesn't enjoy writing for the Doctor.
Leaving aside the fact that he turned him into a gay caricature, and had him fight supernatural creatures, he also outright removed him from two out of 8 episodes. A quarter of this entire season doesn't have the title character more or less. Oh and remember this version isn't even the Doctor as he split off from him.
Good thing he decided to write for DW then. He was definitely the best person to revive it.

Apparently Fruity was off filming other things again. Might have been a good idea to cast someone who could actually appear in the series...

You can tell this is the sort of thing where the role was written bespoke for him

That can't be right?

Most popular Tennant episode... Blink. Most popular Gatwa episode... 73 Yards. The absence of your leading man isn't supposed to be an advantage. RTD really isn't cut out for this casting business, is he? Said it before and I'll say it again RTD is ironically the most like Eric Saward. It's hilarious that their fans are probably the most hostile to each other, as Saward fans view RTD as the ultimate populist drivel, whilst RTD fans view Saward as the idiot who wasn't in touch with the people. Still both of them are similar in that they seem to like the world of DW, with Saward loving the Cybermen and RTD loving the Daleks, but they both actively despise the main character LOL. Believe it or not that is common. I mean after all it's not a coincidence that three of the most popular heroes, the Doctor, Batman and Spider-Man all have the best villains is it? Be honest here how many of us as little kids were drawn to these franchises because of the villains? I was certainly a Dalek fan before I was a Doctor Who fan, I was a Joker fan before I was a Batman fan, and yeah I was a Venom and Carnage fan before I was a Spider-Man fan. Similarly look how many people are fans of Buffy's supporting characters like Spike, Cordelia, Faith, Angel etc. I'd say that Buffy sadly is probably the least popular leading character among her own fanbase. Look at all the Buffy reboot comics? They all sideline her and focus on Spike, Faith and Angel. Faith in particular is lightyears more popular than Buffy. It's funny when my very good friend Golden Age Geek kindly asked me to do a live stream on Buffy he said based on my posts "I see you love Faith, I do too." I said to him that wasn't such an uncommon opinion haha. Indeed I'd later find out that Maxil also loves Faith and he hasn't even seen Buffy yet LMAO. Still whilst it's fine to have that opinion as a viewer, if you're going to write for it you have to as a writer try and obviously find value in the leading character and do them justice. Saward and RTD however, never did. Both writers either pushed him to the side, or changed him into the type of character they'd actually rather write for. Writers like that can still work for the show, but they should never be in charge of it. They need a script editor who does respect the character to tidy the story up. Ironically I think Moff actually does like the leading character, but again his own insecurities are what let him down.

Most RTD fans don't know how to tie their own shoelaces. Been saying for years that Moffat was the only one in the whole of New Who who seemed to have any idea about the character of the Doctor, which is why the ones he cast are the only ones you can imagine in real Who. Davies is a parasite who fed off the carcass of the real program to alleviate his own career. He's returned to the carcass to find there's now nothing left.

And just as boring as ever! Well I can't throw stones at someone for being boring. I elevated it to an art form. RTD is a hack even at that compared to me LOL.
