Rishi Sunak has called a General Election, to be held on 4th July 2024.
Who will you be voting for? Will it be a tactical vote specific to your constituency? Will you abstain altogether?

I'd be all for a Workers' Party as long as it isn't bundled with identity politics crap. Like I've said before, a more left-leaning economic system could work better in certain circumstances. For example the privatisation of the universities and the railways has been a complete unmitigated disaster.

SNP as always. At this stage though I just hope anybody but Sunak wins.

From a cursory glance at their Wikipedia page, a point of contention with Galloway's party would be the Israel issue. Its outlooks also seem to be somewhat conducive to communist extremism. They do however think identity politics is a load of bollocks, which is good.

SNP as always. At this stage though I just hope anybody but Sunak wins. My niggling expectation (or, more accurately, hope) is that the Tories and Sunak lose outright, but Labour and Starmer fail to win a majority.

Oh, bugger. I forgot to add Independent candidates to the poll!

Rishi Sunak has called a General Election, to be held on 4th July 2024 So he's finally done it. About time. As an expat Brit in Australia, I can vote in UK elections for 15 years, which means I've got 9 years left. I can vote in my old UK constituency, which is Nottingham East. It's always been a pretty safe Labour seat, so it's probably pointless voting for anyone else, and I will never, ever vote Tory. Of course, I could throw away my vote on one of the smaller parties, but I did that for 2 GE's with the Green Party which achieved precisely nothing. So it'll probably be Labour if I decide to even bother at all, since they are so crap.

Of course, I could throw away my vote on one of the smaller parties, but I did that for 2 GE's with the Green Party which achieved precisely nothing. I’d still consider the possibility this time, given that the chances of the Tories being the largest party- let alone having a majority- are astronomically low. Starmer can afford the hit, and there’s widespread disaffection across the country with both major parties.

Pity that spoiled ballots aren't counted as a No Confidence vote. I just hope those who voted Tory last time have learned their lesson now that their vote has helped to totally f*ck up the country because the establishment told them Corbyn was basically Satan with an allotment.

I'll have a closer look at the other options. Pity that spoiled ballots aren't counted as a No Confidence vote. The policies of one's local parliamentary candidates are fairly important too- maybe check your constituency's Wikipedia page. Likewise, in my constituency, I'm unsure how many alternative options I'll have. If there are no viable alternatives to the Lib/Lab/Con orthodoxy on offer- which is likely, barring Reform, who can undoubtedly f uck off- I might vote for the Lib Dems as the lesser of all evils. I just hope those who voted Tory last time have learned their lesson now that their vote has helped to totally f*ck up the country because the establishment told them Corbyn was basically Satan with an allotment. Ah- but everything is Jeremy Corbyn's fault, you see? He's to blame for COVID, for the recession, for our money being spent on pointless foreign wars, for my bad mood... I wish Corbyn had fought back harder against the ridiculous accusations. He kept folding all the time. For a supposed "extremist", he was incredibly soft...

My constituency has a Labour, Tory, Liberal, Reform and Green candidate. I'm considering voting Green to send a message to the Lib/Lab/Con triad, although the possibility of tactically voting to get rid of my current MP (who is, by all accounts, a gurning arsehole) is tantalising...

I always felt John McDonnell would've been a much better leader, but sadly the ship has long sailed.

Lib Dem as I’m a member though, as a ‘Remoaner’, I don’t really know where Ed Davey stands lately on the EU issue - perhaps he got fed up with abuse on the doorsteps. His principle concern is around carers, which makes sense on a personal level but it does seem odd that a party which got the same percentage under Swinson is now on for 40 to 50 seats (apparently)!

I'll probably revert to Green. Workers Party sounds all well and good on paper, but Galloway is a knob.

My MP already buggered off because he threatened the press before realising they had the goods on him! Gives a chance for us to be shot of the Tories here, which would have been unthinkable once - this is real ‘pig with a blue rosette’ territory.
