When Nc*nti Fatwa flops, we'll have a yank in the central role.
Mark my words.

You know it's kind of sad that Eccelston one of my least favourite Doctors is the most badass in real life LOL. Compare that to Colin kissing Davies arse, and even other classic who icons like Louise Jameson and McCoy and even Peter Davison all fawning over new who with shit like "Robert Holmes could have been the RTD of his day." Or "Rose was the first companion who was properly fleshed out." UGH.
Eccelston calling for RTD and his entire mob of yes men/women to be sacked is f*cking awesome. To be fair to Eccelston though he was one of my least favourites because of RTD.

No, American culture is what has destroyed western culture, and we should not pander to them anymore. I want to see Europe break away from those c*nts and remember that we have our own culture, style, and ways, and should celebrate that. Americanisation is the worst thing to happen in modern history. f*ck everything American. American culture has given some wonderful things to the world. Jazz not being the least of them. That, however, was the past and America seems determined to ignore any of its great achievements in favour of disappearing down the rabbit-hole of of brain-dead late-capitalist consumerism and corrupt far-right politics, and taking us with them. In short; i'm forced to agree...

In short; i'm forced to agree... That's the hilarious thing about all the fandom menace types who go on about how Marxism killed DW and the sci fi genre. To start with there is nothing even remotely leftist about identity politics. As I have said many times it is a tool used by the right to dupe people into thinking they are progressive. On top of that another big reason these franchises have gone to hell is capitalism! It wants to turn art into just a bland product it can market and sell. Obviously all artists to some extent want their work to appeal to people and it has to be a success in order to get made if it is a big show, but ultimately late stage capitalism has taken it too far. It wants to just churn out an endless supply of big movies, using a safe formula that will keep making them money, and it wants to apply that formula to just about everything it can. Hence why all the Marvel movies are virtually the same, why DC is trying to emulate Marvel, why the Dark Universe tried to emulate the MCU, why even DW is trying to emulate Marvel and other bland Disney shite. Why so many franchises are being revived long past their prime to cash in on established and safe formulas. The days of any kind of outsider getting in with something big people are willing to take a chance on are long gone in mainstream Hollywood. The only reason they cling to woke crap, is because these Hollywood big wigs are out of touch, and think that is marketable.

I said at the time that if there was some sort of dispute between the leading man and the producer, why on earth would they get rid of the leading man? I seem to recall a dispute between Tom and Williams in the late 70s, and the BBC1 head was actually going to sack Williams. Of course Tom was just being a stroppy git and went "no, no, no" when he heard this but it shows the level to which RTD has been protected and guarded for.... what? Because he's gay? It's certainly not down to the quality of his writing, because he was shit then and has only gotten worse. Makes sense, though. Many thought that Bad Wolf would put the breaks on some of RTD's excesses but from that it sounds like Julie and Jane will be cheering him on from the rooftops while he destroys this show and character completely.

I said at the time that if there was some sort of dispute between the leading man and the producer, why on earth would they get rid of the leading man? Because the leading man is the figurehead, not the power. The producer makes the show happen. He hires all the crew, deals with all the issues, makes the creative decisions. The producer is much more responsible for the end product than the leading man. Tom's case was an anomaly, because he'd been there so long and had such a large personality. But without that level of marquee appeal, the leading man is the expendable one. A reliable producer can be counted on to find another good actor.

I'm surprised to hear that about Tom and Williams. I thought they were always very close. Mind you Tom did become a total nightmare at points in Williams era. He said he literally lost his mind as he already had mental health problems, and he became convinced at one point alien monsters were trying to invade the BBC. Granted that might be Tom just doing his usual exaggerating and being funny LOL. He is fond of doing that. Then again there is an interview to promote the Key to Time where Tom seems to get offended at the interviewer daring to suggest that he isn't actually the Doctor and gets quite aggressive. I love the way it cuts back to Mary Tamm with a look of "what the f*ck are you doing" on her face. LMFAO.

True, we'd never have had Tom remembering how to act in season 18 if he'd been prematurely cut down!

I think you mean wishing he was down the pub instead. Like most of the audience.

Williams himself said "He made the mistake of taking Tom seriously, which you should never do." lol

I love the way it cuts back to Mary Tamm with a look of "what the f*ck are you doing" on her face. LMFAO. Nationwide, i think it was. With Frank Bough. But that's not quite what happened. Tom is giving Bough his usual wide grin and googly-eyes routine, and Bough responds by asking him if he always feels the need to be "Doctor Who". Tom, clearly offended by the suggestion that he is somehow being "false" responds thusly:- "No, i don't have to be 'Doctor Who' any more more than you have to be 'Frank Bough'..!!" "But, i am Frank Bough..." "No, you're not. No, you're not; people see you on the television but they don't believe you really exist..!!" The look on Mary's face is priceless; "Oh shit, Tom's going off on one..." I thought it was hilarious...
