It annoys me because I'm somewhat interested in certain aspects of this episode namely Mel and the Toymaker. It doesn't even look all that bad from the previews, but I've been tricked twice already. Even if it ends up being decent by NuWho standards I'm unlikely to watch the Christmas special or Series 14.

"Now everyone thinks they're right!": ironic. Undoubtedly this will be a dig at tOxIc fandom and all that shit, and to be honest I'm tired of fighting this battle. Let Davies ravage his way through it and leave desolation in his wake. f*ck it, I literally don't care anymore. I have better things to do.

The writing is a bit clunky in that scene. Sad that Wilf isn't really there though they use a bit of archive audio to make it seem like he is.

I hope you didn't mind me editing your post, Zarius. The video you sent was made private by the BBC and they've since reuploaded it. I've just replaced the private version with the new one.

It's honestly just fun hearing about what a disaster it is at this stage. I mean I normally don't take pleasure in other people's downfalls and I don't take pleasure in it now, but I can't help but laugh watching people like RTD do all the things people like us told him not to arrogantly assuming we're just ming mongs and he is a genius, only to see it all blow up spectacularly in his face for all the reasons we said LOL.

Just Davies' fan-fic version of them.

Apparently NPH had never heard of Doctor Who until he was cast. What the actual f*ck...

Why would he? He's an American, and middle-aged at that.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's putting the finishing touches on a Bernard Cribbins corpse cake right now.

America isn't known for having TV, access to the Internet, newspapers etc. Doctor Who isn't everywhere on TV, the internet or the newspapers. He might also forget about hearing it because it isn't of any relevance to him, similar to how I always tune out whatever Peaky Blinders is supposed to be.

Broken down and analysed, all three of these specials probably have their share of redeeming qualities. None of which matter to a viewer who is constantly on edge waiting for the inevitable next intrusion of immersion-breaking identity politics and/or spiteful fan trolling. None of which matter to a viewer who is aware that everything happening sits within the context of a wider story that's canonically and thematically broken beyond repair.
Fundamentally, I just don't trust the storytellers enough to be able to suspend disbelief, which renders me unable to experience any of this as art or entertainment.

I had a similar feeling throughout the Moffat era. I can't enjoy his stuff at all anymore because all I ever see is him smugly chuckling to himself behind the typewriter.
RTD, despite all his issues, has yet to reach that point for me. He is still the better writer.
