Good news if that's true. I'm quite fond of the serial and I reckon good animation will do it justice. Not sure if the animation will be good, mind you.

Heard a horrifying rumour this is being done by Big Fannish. Oh God. How is that crew still getting work? Talk about jobs for the boys.

Oof, that's rough. Some of these look like assets you'd see in a multiplayer party game from like 2010. That or a second-rate Telltale knockoff.
In all honesty it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it'd be. It's still naff but definitely not an outright abomination like the Web of Fear one.

Absolutely hopeless. When will they learn? The 3D animation doesn't work. The animations on the whole are, frankly, bargain-basement stuff but things like Macra Terror and Fury from the Deep were okay. This just doesn't work at all.
Oh well, at least it's 20 quid i won't have to bother spending...

Not great, but I'm a fan of the story so I'll get it. They've taken some huge liberties /photo/4

Everyone is hating on it in the YouTube comment section. I can't be bothered to get angry about this. I'm just happy I can watch a moving version of a serial I absolutely adore.

Something like that barely warrants 2 quid at the corner shop, let alone 20.

Doesn't look very good at all. Even worse than the usual Scooby Doo.
Couldn't they have announced the next Collection set instead?

I wanted to hate it on sight but then I saw the image with the robot.
As a 90s lad I grew up with cgi series like Beast Wars, Starship Troopers and War Planets. It gave me a love of less realistic, retro CGI.
The characters will be ugly but maybe this way the Celestial Toy Room will be done more justice then in cheap 2D.

The animation styles they choose are always so incongruous with the original soundtracks. This is the worst one yet, but the cheap and soulless 90s flash animation style doesn't fit either. What I'd love to see are animations designed to emulate hand-drawn, on-model, painted-background 1960s cartoons. Work on the basis of approximating what an animated version of Doctor Who might have looked like in 1966, maybe taking inspiration from the annuals and Polystyle comics of the time. It wouldn't have to be especially polished or high-budget, just period-accurate.

Period accurate is the one thing they don't want it to be.

There's a restored version of the existing episode as well as a photo gallery (which will look gorgeous in HD). There's also a recon though since no telesnaps survive I'm not sure how they'd be able to do one properly.
