I'm just spitballing here, but with rumours that Tennant has wrapped filming and a slightly suggestive Instagram post from Karen Gillan, could the reason there's going to be three 60th specials is that the idea is to have a different Doctor in each? So you have the Toymaker (probably) as the overarcing villain in all three, but three different Doctors and companions in each special? Basically a different sort of multi-Doctor anniversary special? So you have Tennant and Tate in one, Matt and Karen in another... but who would be in the third? Capaldi seems very leery (and possibly pissed at the BBC if the rumours of him being forced out are true), unless Bad Wolf money can lure him back... but what about McGann? We've already heard rumours that one special will be an adaptation of the 8th Doctor comic strip The Flood, but what if it actually had McGann in it?
Fandom would lose its s**t.
I'm just wondering if this is why they're doing three specials (and, according to Harris at least, they're all being broadcast in November next year rather than spread out, so they're all part of the anniversary)? Could I be onto something? Or am I full of it?

I've heard rumours. I'd be interested in seeing McGann in it. To be honest, he deserves to be in a special on his own. On telly he's only got half of a TV movie and a five minute mini episode. It would be a nice treat for the fans if he gets to play the part again on screen.

Someone on PM insists its three Tennant-led specials. That better not be true, or I will not be impressed. It doesn't even make sense from a business perspective, as while Tennant may be King in the UK, overseas Smithy (and Kazza) would be more of a draw. We'll see, I guess.

Don't care, I will never, EVER watch a thing Harris is in. Added to that if it's good I'd rather it not be canon after the Timeless Children. Also from what I've read that sick f*ck Harris is not playing the Toymaker. He is playing the Trickster from the SJW, which seems more likely. I guess though we'll see if in the next few weeks Matt and Kazza are spotted filming. I doubt they could keep that hidden to be honest.
Again though if Harris is in, count me out.

I just want to be able to like Who again. It's probably a futile hope at this point I know.

I just want to be able to like Who again. It's probably a futile hope at this point I know. If you can that's fine. I'm friends (sort of) with Claudia Boleyn you know, so I don't let taste in Who get in the way. To me however it's just been too broken by the Timeless Children. There really is no going back after that for me, that is it. I am also in no way enthusiastic about RTD's return, I tolerated it in the 2000s, but now after 20 f*cking years of him and people trying to emulate him, I want proper DW again, no Buffy lite substitutes. I also utterly despise the fandom apart from a few good eggs like Claudia, Clever Dick, and Wingy (who isn't even in the fandom anymore as he hates it, whilst Claudia was also booted and considers Gallifrey Base nasty bigots.) Finally as you know Harris is a disgusting, vile individual. (Don't worry I won't show the picture of that revolting corpse cake again as it is disturbing.) Still the fact that this holier than thou fandom and its makers are working with that piece of shit after the way they've talked down to us, and actively ruined other people for supposedly being toxic is the last straw. You know I more than most have had really upsetting, horrible, nasty things said to me from the fans and in some cases the makers for voicing reasonable complaints. To see these same people celebrate a guy who did that. It just pisses me off too much. Shows how hollow, egocentric, and phoney all of their virtue signalling is. I won't watch a second of anything that c*nt Harris is in. Incidentally Rani, what are your thoughts on someone like Harris being in it? Don't worry I won't badger you about it LOL, as you haven't been a c*nt to anyone about it, but still given how holier than thou RTD and others involved in the show have been, with RTD slagging off Loki for not being woke enough don't you think it is hypocritical to cast someone like Harris? Again whilst I'd never watch him, I wouldn't ever demand he be fired obvs, but when this franchise's fans and makers fire others for so much less, like James Dreyfus, to me for all their wokery, they are saying "it's okay if you mock someone with anorexia, bullimia and self harming issues but say one thing about woke culture, and you are dead to us." THAT'S where real bigotry begins in my opinion.

I'm used to compartmentalising lol So long as they ignore the Timeless Children shite and never mention it again, I can quite happily pretend it doesn't exist (I mean, it doesn't - I never watched the shite). I'm used to it. I could only watch Neighbours in 2004 by pretending certain stuff in the 90s never happened. It just depends whether what's next is worth doing that for.

Nah sorry ti doesn't work that way. Could you have pretended that Buffy never died in s7 of Buffy for instance? A story is a story. What happens matters. Also quite frankly the Fitzroy c*nts need taking down a peg or two and not encouraged.

Nah, you end up with nothing that way. I take what I like and throw away what I don't. Canon is what I say it is.

If these wankers won't treat the show I love with respect, I won't treat their shite with respect either. Case in point I'm happy to cut up Big Finish's nonsense and make somthing workable out of it.

When the people who make the show take the attitude of canon isn't important is when it becomes a problem and why I get so averse to the idea. Still if it's just your own headcanon that is fine.

When the people who make the show take the attitude of canon isn't important is when it becomes a problem and why I get so averse to the idea. Still if it's just your own headcanon that is fine. The idea of “no cannon” in Doctor Who is rubbish. As I see it Doctor Who’s cannon is something that has evolved overtime, much in the same vain as comics. For Example, the grey, selfish brute that only appeared at night a far cry from the Arnold Schwarzenegger like Merged Hulk of the late 80s/early 90s or the Hulk who became King of Sakaar, but this dose not mean the Hulk has no cannon. His early adventures were very simple and chaotic as they were finding their feet with the character and the style of stories that were told at the time. The Bruce banner of the earlier comics was not the man with sever associative identity disorder and a horrifically abusive father. Yet now those aspects are integral parts of the character. The same goes for history that developed for Doctor Who. RTD and his ilk are want make up bull shite to excuse their horse shite.

As much as that first season set the stage for all to come, I did like the Daleks and I loved the Emperor's design when I put my knee jerk reaction to the side.

Tennant has confirmed at a convention in the US that the stuff he and Tate have shot is only a very small cog in the anniversary specials and that other returning actors have largely been shot in studio or in quiet locations so have been able to be kept secret. Big speculation that Paul McGann, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi are back, as well as Karen Gillan (who seems to have been dropping possible hints of such on Instagram), Arthur Darville and John Simm. If this is true, I have to admit that together with the Beep the Meep style madness this could end up putting the 50th to shame (not too difficult).
