Focusing on the Doctor/Yaz romance. Hey I'm looking forward to two big nosed babes getting it on as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't have thought this was the most important thing to focus on in a sci fi adventure show about monsters.
Then again this is what the writer of the story had to say.
“I mean, I guess once those conversations had been opened up, they need to be continued,” Road told RadioTimes.com. “I think that we were all keen to make sure that we were handling all of that stuff delicately.
Basically, there were conversations that needed to be had based on what was happening in the episode before. And so we continued to have them. But, yeah, that’s all I can say.
Road noted that balancing this character-based storyline with the adventurous aliens n’ pirates n’ sci-fi plot of Legend of the Sea Devils was a big challenge, but one she relished tackling alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall.
For me, again, it was like being able to engage with human relationship conversations amid the epicness and the fun of all the swashbuckling,” she told us. “It was a really fun challenge.
I believe that escapism is desperately important, particularly in the times that we’re living in. I want to work in the space of thrills and spectacle and escapism. But I also can’t lose sight of the fact that the reason I started writing was because I had stuff to say – and I still have stuff to say.”

Whatever, they can talk in as many "yes but no" ways they like, doesn't change the fact its crap.
Just commit to an idea and stick with it, this lot were as bold as brass during the early Jodie era, it's a little late to start downplaying their agenda.
Only a very select few people will ever care about this era once it's over. Hell most want it over already. This era will be remembered for what it was, a pile of shallow, political bating, clout chasing, fan hating dog shite.

I must confess, despite never watching a single Jodie episode, I am part-way tempted to tune in to the latest abhorration, if only to see the Sea Devils.
Then again I figure, no Myrka, then no Sea Devils.

Then again I figure, no Myrka, then no Sea Devils. I think a conversation needs to be opened up regarding the Myrka's relationship issues. I mean, what's it like to be a gender-fluid pantomime horse in the 21st Century? Those are the issues that people can relate to and want to see discussed. Doctor Who needs to change and adapt to today's climate if it's going to continue failing...

Okay, okay I hate to admit I watched this. It wasn't because of my crush on Jodie however. My family who I was visiting wanted to see it, simply because it was on.
It was really, really boring. There was no plot whatsoever, and Jodie was awful as per usual. More scrunch faces and gormless fast talking. Also she admitted she loved Yaz, but nothing happened. No kiss. I've never seen such queer baiting in my life. FFS Xena and Gabrielle that was made in genuinely homophobic times had more kissing and more of a relationship between its two female leads.
What baffled me though was that it took Chibnall 4 months to make this? It had no f*cking plot, hardly any dialogue, nothing! Its plot was so f*cking thin it might as well have been a DW morning comic strip! It really does go to show you that without his identity politics to rile people up, Chinballs has absolutely NOTHING to make him stand out. How sad is that?
Also it was very poorly made. The sword fighting in particular was very badly done. Very slow, and at times you couldn't even make out who was fighting who. The Sea Devil costumes actually looked worse than the 70s versions meanwhile. Their goggly eyes looked quite cute and all the problems with the original like the mouths not moving were there.
Sadly however what pissed me off about it the most was the ending. On the next time we had Daleks, Cybermen, the Master, Brigs daughter (though still no Osgood? What do they hate her because I like her?) and............ ACE.
Sorry Maxil, but Ace will be back in Jodie's last episode. I'm really pissed off at her for trying to link this shit to the original. Shows a total lack of respect to her fans. PS I hope nobody brought up she was in a story that killed Chinballs in the 80s?
Only good thing I can say is Jodie looked extremely sexy in her Chinese gear. That's it. Wish she'd sang, but oh well.

Well I should have expected that from her as she has been nasty and awful to any fan who didn't like this wonderful, glorious change. I guess arse kissing does lead to work these days. Maybe Mr Tardis will cameo as third coat hanger in the TARDIS.

Why Sophie, why? Tegan I don't really care about to be honest. Unlike Ace, she's one of the least popular companions from the classic series and I'm not sure many classic fans would be thrilled to see her again after what she's said in the past.

I was wondering who was going to watch this, if only to see the crappy new costumes.
It sounds as tepid as ever, tho I have to admit I'd have been (pleasantly) surprised if this pre-watershed episode showed the Bubbles Doctor and Yaz engage in 'Blue Is The Warmest Colour'-style scissoring!

Perhaps Warriors just needs to be *checks notes* made relevant for a modern audience, rather than some new, terrible episode being put out. Judging by the monster costumes in the Chibbers era they'd actually come up with a worse Myrka!

Then again I figure, no Myrka, then no Sea Devils. True. However, we can speculate that a contemporary iteration would substitute a Myrka in post-production for the leafiest leaf in the whole wide universe, so we're better off avoiding such wishful thinking...

Some relatives of mine got back to me earlier and said it was shite- one of the most mundane and downright rubbish episodes they'd ever seen. I think I made the right call in not bothering... As for the special: Again, they're reusing old villains in exactly the same tired action spectacle they've been churning out as finales for well over a decade now. Daleks, Cybermen, The Master, ham-fisted attempts to rectify the lore of a rushed arc-heavy era, returning companions; it's very likely to be "Time of the Doctor: Redux". I'd love a regeneration story in the same vein as Caves of Androzani again, but these prospects seem a hundred million miles away.
