Set looks pretty good actually. Nice cover, too. Might end up getting this one.

OK, great news on the Blu Ray release front. But 7 minutes, 11 seconds and written and directed by Peter McTighe? WTF?? Does a trailer for a fokking boxset of Doctor Who discs have to be a nuwho cum-tribute to David Lean every time now...?
When's it getting a cinema release?

When's it getting a cinema release? Even the mildly polarising Doctor Zhivago is aeons better than anything Pete McTighe has ever shat out.

That said, this set does look rather impressive, and I'll definitely cave and buy it.
However, like Maxil, I'm nonplussed as to why they're interviewing Grade of all people...

I haven't actually watched this f*cking thing and, to be honest, don't intend to but i presume i can feel safe in the assumption that it reduces Peri to a sad old bat desperately flicking herself off to memories of the "Wonderful, impossible" Doctor...

She's travelling with the Sixth Doctor again, Ycarnos having passed away. They also pick up a new companion.

I've seen a lot of positive comments about the season on some Facebook groups I'm on. Still, I think Grade taints the entire set. He's an absolute scumbag and I'm not just talking about the cancellation the show, but just the way he is and his treatment of Colin and JNT in particular. Certain fans (I won't name names) will use the interview as fuel for their warped and hateful narratives on 80s Who and JNT. Bellends.

That's kind of disgraceful, actually. People like him and Powell are just proven scumbags, why should we give them space to spin their BS? Dear me.

Interviews with Michael Grade and extras written by Chibnall writers? Who the fokk are they trying to appeal to with this shit? Hard pass.
Four years on from my pledge back on NuHive, I still haven't caved. Until it's possible to have a 100% Chibnall-free experience of these remasters (ideally NuWho-free but I'll settle for Chibnall-free), they won't be getting a penny from me.
Oh, and a word to NuWho's production team: FIND SOME NEW f*ckING SETS. YOU'VE BEEN REUSING THAT SAME f*ckING PLACE JUST ABOUT EVERY YEAR SINCE 2005.

Greetings Hivers, I'm happy to learn Season 22 is getting a blu ray collection release Got to say though I don't think that trailer works too well. It's nice enough to see Peri back on screen again - and she remains one of the most attractive Who companions ever in her prime - but somehow this trailer's new wraparound "story" just doesn't feel adequate as a celebration of Colin's first full (and arguably only proper) season. Other season trailers have been much more evocative such as Season 8's featuring Jo encountering some Terror Autons or Season 14's with Leela dealing with a Death Robot. And I loved how the recent Season 17 trailer was launched by Davros on Skaro setting the scene perfectly for Destiny. A much better trailer for Season 22 could surely have linked in more effectively to some of the rather striking imagery from a season so dominated by a new Doctor, and an old Doctor, not to mention Daleks, Cybermen and the Master too. While this season obviously has its critics, not least from within the BBC itself, I agree with other commentators on here and share their distaste for that obnoxious t**t Grade being included. I certainly hope any footage of that tosser in the documentaries is kept to a minimum! On the plus side, I quite like the option of updated special effects for Timelash. Maybe you can't polish a turd, even when its got tinsel on it, but any improvement for that story can't be a bad thing. On the whole, I prefer how Colin's Doctor carries himself in this season when compared with how he subsequently appears (somewhat watered down I feel) in the Trial episodes. Anyway, with the exception of Timelash, most of Season 22 is fairly satisfying imo and at least a couple of these stories - namely Two Doctors and Revelation - I'd even consider to be all time classics. So I'll probably get this set because it stands out to me as a damn fine season, indeed one of the best of the 80s!

I agree with the above, the trailers a bit shite given that this is quite a good season, far better ones were made for Season 8, 14, 17, 24 etc
The extra scenes are intrigueing and the spit and polish given to Timelash welcome(I bet theres no CGI non-phallus looking Morlocks though), I thought the best of it looked the locations revists however, the one to the location of Mark of the Rani looked superb.

The issue with the trailer is that it's not remotely relevant to the season whatsoever and doesn't elicit the tone of the stories in the slightest, so there's no congruity there whatsoever. It's essentially just a standalone NuWho short film which only happens to be relevant to the season courtesy of featuring Peri, and a shit one too. It would suit season 23 more appositely, but the actual season 23 Blu-Ray trailer was also better than this one. That said, Pete McTighe is the same writer who ascertained that the Doctor would side with Amazon and its insidious corporate machinations over that of an abused activist who's girlfriend had been killed by the very system the Doctor happens to be appraising, so what can we really expect?
