Shame Rushy isn't around here to talk about Blake's 7 Speak of the Devil, and he shall appear.

Yeah, welcome Rushy. I love Blake's 7 particularly Series 4.

Glad to be here!
I've noticed that Series 4 is something of an underdog in the fandom (Big Finish not making any stories set in it doesn't help)

Glad to be here! I've noticed that Series 4 is something of an underdog in the fandom (Big Finish not making any stories set in it doesn't help) It's odd because I always previously considered Series 4 a bit of an inferior add-on afterthought to the series, but on my last rewatch of the series I found myself enjoying it warts and all the most. My favourite scene is Avon entering a room, kicking the chair, slipping on the shit which flies off it and quickly regaining his composure after almost going arse over tit.(I think it's in "Animals")

I remember slightly struggling with it on first watch, because it really did seem like all of the comfortable/reliable elements of the series were being stripped away (Blake, Cally, the Liberator, Paul Darrow acting normally). There was no sense of the crew being family anymore, and it was not clear why Avon was continuing the fight when he could have easily retired or gone off to rob banks like he originally wanted to.
But once I really considered the impact that the previous adventures would've had on them, I found Series 4 to be the most interesting one. I also really like (and always did) the visual revamp, and the introduction of Xenon as a home base.

Upon original transmission, I never really got why they spent pretty much half a series establishing a whole new set up to be built upon just to destroy and smash it down again, but in retrospect I guess it shows the federation closing in and gaining dominance, which is presumably why Avon decided his life of crime was no longer viable. My other favourite bits from Series 4 are the 80's style corporate logos, federation troopers trampolining over sand dunes and the use of scene scrolling(ha ha, you ain't Star Wars guys!)

He was willing to go into hiding back in series 1, though, and that's when the Federation were arguably at their strongest. In series 4, they're still supposed to be recovering from the Intergalactic War, which is why the pacification programme is introduced in the first place (as they lack the manpower for traditional conquest). I have a whole bunch of theories for Avon's behaviour, but I probably shouldn't start posting entire essays lol

Shame Rushy isn't around here to talk about Blake's 7 Speak of the Devil, and he shall appear. Hi Rushy. I was on the Auton Factory. I had Dana DeLorenzo as my profile picture, but now I have Amy Winehouse here. (You could be forgiven for thinking they were the same person LOL as they are twins.) I am not getting involved in the forum wars or anything between here and Auton Factory. I have had enough forum drama with GB to last a lifetime. Nice to see you here though. As for s4 of B7 I'd say it paradoxically has the best and worst episodes of the series. Rescue, Orbit, Sand and Blake are among the best sci fi on television ever produced. Power however is by far and away the worst ever episode of Blake's 7. It's utterly laughable.

I watched Stardrive last night and really enjoyed it. it's so 80s with the look of the Space Rats. Dudley's score is great too. Also, how hot is Soolin?! She's yummy as anything in this episode. I'm surprised that people consider this one of the weaker episodes of the show because it's really not that bad. I remember liking Power too despite Bed Steed's usual sexism. It's a bit better than Moloch from the previous year.

I was on the Auton Factory. I'm on Auton Factory too. I have about 5 accounts on there. I'm surprised no one has noticed me yet.
