Nice I've been listening to a lot of Motown recently. The 60s was a golden age for entertainment in all respects.

Dionne Bromfield.
She's so underrated. Such a powerful voice and wide range as a singer.

Don't normally listen to Green Day, but this track is blazing. I wonder if Cutrone ever crossed paths with Billy Joe Armstrong?

The Spy Who Loved Me Soundtrack:
This came in the post yesterday and I've sat down and listened to it a few times. On the whole it's a good soundtrack although none of the music on the album sounds like it did in the movie. I'm pretty sure the tracks were specifically recorded for the album. There's also a ton of music from the movie that's not on the album and several tracks on there that weren't in the film. The album highlights are the funky Bond 77 theme, Ride to Atlantis and The Tanker. There's also a lovely instrumental of Nobody Does It Better on there as well. The music from the Mojave Club is also presented in full and adds to the Egyptian feel. The album is just over half an hour, but all the key themes are here and it has that late 70s charm to it. Not as good as John Barry's better scores, but a decent score.
7/10

I quite liked that Paloma Faith docu last night. I'd imagine that it wouldn't be of any interest to people who aren't fans, and I was quite surprised she got such a good slot. Still it was a bit eye opening to how difficult it can be for women in the industry. We all know that many industries don't take proper precautions for women having babies, but I would have thought that someone like Paloma with 5 big albums and a role in a very popular tv show could take time off to have a child, but even here you saw most of her managers warning her that having a baby could end her career. It was really sad when she said that she would be too old if she didn't and her feeling that her life was over at fokking 40! It really is a cut throat industry. I also stumbled on this article about Dionne Bromfield when I was looking for more songs by her. This was from the Guardian of all papers and it was supposed to be a review of her album, but it is nothing but a scathing attack on Amy Winehouse. This was from 2009 before Amy's death and I think it is a good time capsule into just how awful the treatment she got from the media was. Here's the Guardian, that notorious right on, woke paper going after her for her looks, getting personal about her being a terrible influence on Dionne Bromfield, not acknowledging that she overcame her drugs and was now well enough to make an album. Nope just vicious attacks LOL. I think this really shows what I'm always saying was completely true. It's nice being validated. www.theguardian.com/music/2009/sep/22/amy-winehouse-goddaughter-dionne-bromfieldAgain it makes me laugh when I see the likes of Jodie and Brie Larson going on about what a rough time they got LOL. Only good thing is Dionne turned out brilliantly and has had a great life. Hell she turned out better than this arsehole.
