Long time no see, welcome back. Post more often. Sadly though I don't think he will. He and Chibbers are great friends. Who knows maybe he is taking the fall for Chibbers. Remember the small alternate eighth Doctor regeneration story he did for the 50th? He released it in 2020 and it actually helped put me at ease with the timeless child thing....explaining away that a Dalek weapon used multiple versions and histories of Gallifrey and Earth like four-dimensional 'bullets'. If he can bring something of that description to the 60th, it would be a sufficient fix. All stories are true, but so is the multiverse...perhaps he could adjust the meaning of the narrative so that there are 'timeless' versions of classic incarnations? True he may surprise us. He wasn't that fond of the Timeless Children retcon in all fairness slagging it off just a it on twitter during the watchalong stating that it was less thrilling knowing there's like 7089 Doctors out there that can fix any problems. Personally though I think that the multiverse formula doesn't need the time war to split it off. It can just be as I've always said it, that New Who is a different universe, though even then I'd cut Jodie out of New Who's timeline. Quite frankly why anyone would want to carry on directly after Jodie baffles me.

He allowed sexual harassment on set, including a well documented flasher, turned a blind eye to bullying, forcing out the lead actor, and injected the early woke crap into the show which got us into this mess in the first place. And let's not foget, HIS STORIES ARE ALL SHIT! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! I AM SO fokkING DONE! Oh dear, you've lost it again Genky. Take care.

McGann is a great Doctor, I've always liked him, but that doesn't mean I like the half-human nonsense. However I still don't demand it is retconned so I can sleep at night. However, great to see you approve of a lothario braggart Doctor despite your earlier tantrums. Nonsense. You always campaigned for his dismissal and the queue jumping gormless gurning binman to usurp and piggyback from his enduring legacy. You also wanted the half-human stuff retconned out of canon too and hated the snogging too, yet always seemed to find it acceptable in Fatheads fan-fic rubbish. Glad to see that you now view the TVMovie as a proper bone fide continuation of TrueWho rather Fatheads spin off aberration and failed experiment of a series however. It seems that you are beginning to mature with age from the earlier clown you once were. Well done Rani.

The number of clowns on YT calling him the best writer Who ever had is enough to fair make one weep for the idiocracy we live in. See this is the thing I just don't get? How does someone Terry Nation get reassessed and viewed as a terrible third rate hack by fandom, yet RTD gets called a genius? Yes a lot of criticisms you see of Nation are true. He did have a tendency to reuse ideas, and he could be a bit lazy in his resolutions. Still that apparently overshadows him you know creating the Daleks, Davros, Blake's 7, writing some of the best sci fi on television of the 20th century even just in DW like the Daleks, Daleks Masterplan, Genesis, pioneering a lot of tropes like story arcs, characters being killed off, anti heroes in genre tv that would become mainstays etc. Meanwhile with RTD people overlook blow job stones, deux machina endings, the Doctor flying along on the power of luuuuuuuuurve, cringe enducing celebrity cameos, fart monsters, nasty spiteful jokes against Ian Levine and fat people in general, the Doctor getting off with his 19 year old companion (three years older than Susan.) Now in all fairness I am not saying that RTD didn't do anything right. I just think he is let off way too easy and for some inexplicable reason he and the rest of the revival is ironically held to a much lower standard by the very fans who claim it is better. Hence why JNT's stunt casting undermined the show and made it look desperate, whilst RTD's is either not commented or praised as essential? Why is that?

The number of clowns on YT calling him the best writer Who ever had is enough to fair make one weep for the idiocracy we live in. It shocked me to. Of all the videos I've watched, even the ones who have their reservations about whats to come, they are all licking RTD's arse almost universally. Yours was the only video to not do that, which really shocks me iank. I think it a mix of nostalgia and toxic self-loathing. For a lot of people now days, that was what got them into Doctor Who, and unlike myself, they just can't look at it with a critical eye. Then you have the fans who blindly see him as the "saviour" of Doctor Who, he made it cool and they must be cool as a result. When it stopped being cool they started pining for those days and can't admit that those days weren't so good. Their are also your casually, low quality content junky youtubers and fans who's mind set reflects those of your average viewing audience and were the people ol' Fathead dumbed the show down to appeal to. Also apart from certain placed like here, a lot of the fandom online is a big echo chamber, gate kept by petty tyrants who think that just because they are older, or run a forum, that that actually makes them some kind of authority in the fandom. Funnily enough these lowlifes have a lot in common with Fathead and mates. They back nuwho and especially RTD because if the show stops being cool, then they lose power over their little circle. What ever happens I don't give a f*ck. Nuwho is dead to me and this pretty much shows how desperate and intellectually bankrupt the show is now. Why would I want to watch a shit show that I dont like? The one thing I do genuinely hope for is that it all goes tits up and people stop worshiping this twat. Then we might eventually get somewhere someday. It also wouldn't hurt for fathead to get his ego knocked of it's high horse either.

Then we might eventually get somewhere someday. It also wouldn't hurt for fathead to get his ego knocked of it's high horse either. Summed it up perfectly my good man. To be fair I am not saying that all fans of the RTD era are like that. Unlike certain others here I do give it credit for a lot. For instance like it or hate it, it was important to modern genre tv as it kicked off a huge revival in genre tv and laid down the template that they would follow. Primeval for instance would not exist without RTD era Who. Still the way people overlook the problems with it is awful, and you are 100 percent right that there is a creepy cult like feeling of "he made it coooooooollllllll so anything he says is right." Among fans, particularly older fans. It's as I am always saying. The vile treatment Classic Who got from the media in the 90s and 00s caused the fandom to lose its confidence and mojo and they became desperate for anything with the DW logo slapped on it to be popular, regardless of how unfaithful it was. Not once however did these spineless twats ever think "well time will tell, we'll outlast the panel show twerps and media whores." Instead they just sold out to win the shallow media canutes approval. Sad thing is that Classic Who DID stand the test of time. As evidenced by classic era DVDs outselling the new trash considerably, and even just the most popular aspects of the revival, being things the classic era created, like the Daleks, Cybermen, TARDIS, regeneration etc. (You can't say the same about Next Generation and the original series, as after all the Borg were new villains who took center stage and were mainstream, Picard was a new character etc.) Sadly however the little commandants and generals of organised fandom like the canutes who run GB, Planet Skaro can't admit that they were wrong. That actually RTD era regardless of whether you like it, wasn't a proper continuation of Classic Who, and that this problem has only gotten worse, with the Doctor now being basically a furry, and the Master being his lover. So they double down and big up RTD and ironically don't hold his or Mofftwats work to the same high standard they used to hold the classic era. Hence why if Terry Nation reuses an idea, it's proof he is a hack. If RTD gives us a blowjob stone it's either fun and quirky or doesn't get mentioned. If JNT has hale and pace, popular comedians, in actual acting roles, he is a shallow sell out who is making DW look like a sad old man desperate to get down with the kids. If RTD has Anne Robinson as herself, Paul O'Grady as himself, references to Trinny and Suzannah (who the fokk remembers them now?) And that is charming, has to be done, and stop being such a grouch taking this seriously. Similarly Paul McGann has the Doctor getting off with his companion and magic pixie fairy dust bringing his companions back to life it's proof the movie was a disaster. RTD does both of those things all the fokking time and again it's proof of what a genius he was in updating the show for the new century. Similarly Eric Roberts made the Master a campy, silly character, because he wears time lord robes and makes a joke about "I always drezz for the occassion." but having him dance to the Scissor Sisters, guzzle chicken, shoot lightening bolts out of his hands, shout and cry in the corner "IT'S NOT FAIR" or turn into an oversexed Disney character, fly in as Mary Poppins, overdo her accent "DOOOOOONNNNN'TTTT FEEEEEEL BAAAAAAD IIIIII'LLLLL MISSSSSS HER TAAAAAAAEEEEE" and give the Doctor a Frenchie. No, that's all valid and a proper continuation of the character. It's honestly tragic what Who fandom became, but like I said it should always serve as a lesson never to let bullies change who you are.

I find it hard to understand why some people are still getting so worked up about the future of NuWho at this point. Did anyone really consider the show salvageable prior to this announcement? After The Timeless Children at the very latest, surely it had to become irrelevant to your perception of proper Doctor Who and its canon? Doctor Who is long, long gone. It's as much a thing of the past as Blake's 7.
NuWho is the televisual equivalent of a psychotic inpatient who believes he's John Lennon. You might humour him just to get him to leave you alone, but would you take his claim seriously? You might watch him singing through a one-way mirror out of morbid curiosity, but would you let his demented bastardisations of Lennon's songs impact your opinion of The Beatles to such an extent that you'd feel unable to ever listen to them again? Giving the Fitzroy crowd any power over your perception of Doctor Who at this stage makes about as much sense as that.

Their entitled to like what they like of course, I just state what feel are underlying problems with the community as a whole. I go to reddit or look at other forums and I read comment after comment of almost identical texts some times, and that just doesn't feel natural to me. Then again maybe there simple are not as many fans with dissenting opinions around on them anymore, especially after the exodus created by Jodie and Chibbnell.

I really don't give a monkeys and I didn't care if the show got cancelled, but maybe deep down a bit of me hoped that is the show finally collapsed in on itself things would have a chance to get better. This has taken even that from me. Nuwho will never stop me loving the originals, I just made another post that topic, but it is a shame that every bit of news we gets cuts more and more away from any day dreams of a proper revival.

Oh don't worry I wasn't saying you were saying that, I was just making it clear that was my position, as I have said a few good things about the RTD era so I don't want to look hypocritical that I am bashing all of what RTD did. You've always pretty much hated it so that's fine LOL.

Giving the Fitzroy crowd any power over your perception of Doctor Who at this stage makes about as much sense as that. LOL that is a perfect summation of Jodie era Who and Capaldi era Who's relationship with the original. Obviously it won't stop me enjoying the original as a thing in its own right. It's just that I actually DO think DW in the 21st century could have worked, and to be honest I think it could have been a golden age. The only thing they needed to update about DW were the effects. Also maybe in the 00s they would have had to have ditched the serialized format. That wouldn't have been ideal, but hey Primeval managed it. In the 2020s meanwhile a modern DW could easily work in the serialised format online. I would love to see proper Who back, because I really think there is life in the format, the characters and that there are lots of people who would do the character and show justice. With better effects it could get over the ONE thing that held it back in the classic era, bring in a wide range of writers all over the world and high profile names who love the original, like Peter Jackson, and cast quirky character actors who would be excellent Doctors. Look at Godzilla. It nearly went down the same route with the 98 version, an in name only adaptation, but fans rightfully called it out as such, and as a result we are now getting Japanese AND Western Godzilla movies that are exactly like the old Toho classics, Big G fights another monster, saves the world etc, except they are updated in modern ways, IE better effects, less overt campiness, but its still the same character. Godzilla fans don't have to accept a ridiculous bastardisation. Godzilla fans not only have more proper Big G films to enjoy, but their favourite character has been truly vindicated by history, as the bastardization (the 98 movie) didn't work, whilst the original type of Godzilla has gone on to have mainstream success. They believed in the strength of the character. They knew that some aspects of the old Godzilla movies have obviously dated and needed fixed like the effects, but they had faith in the character and it paid off as you can see above. That is now NEVER going to happen for DW, and worse it's not even because of the Michael Grade's. If it were just a case of, hacks won't commission something like DW because they hate sci fi, that's fine. Now however it's the people who claim to love it, the Fitzroy Crowd who have turned kicking its sacred cows, traditions, and lore into "the only way to do it right" and who have replaced it with something else. Of course the Fitzroy Crowd never cared for it. They just wanted to monopolise a popular franchise whilst it was down. Sadly however all of the fans, the Jon Blum's, Culfy's, Nullain's, in contrast to the proud Godzilla fans were so pathetic, because of the ribbing the show got from intellectual titans like panel show comedians and media hacks, they had no confidence and just wanted the show to be on and popular that they bought into any old shit with the name DW slapped on it. Our only hope was NOT for New Who to ever get better. It was for it to finally get canned, which by all rights given its terrible drop in viewers, the death of its merchandise, and the fact that it's not been a mainstream hit since 2013, it should have been. After that and a hiatus of a few years, we could have maybe come back with an alternate sequel closer to the original, but updated in practical ways. Instead now we are most likely going to get a successful version of the shit we've been drowning in, and the spineless fans who were starting to have doubts going along with it. It is the finale replacement of the identity of Doctor Who in popular culture with this drivel. It's a sad day for all DW fans in this respect.

I'm likely giving him too much credit but, I think (unlike the people who replaced him) that even RTD understands that if you want Doctor Who to be "relevant" then continuing to follow the Buffy format would be a pretty dated way of doing so. Hasn't he in some recent interviews said something to the effect of Doctor Who needing to adapt to the MCU way of tv/movie making? I definitely feel like that's the most likely direction the new RTD Who episodes would be headed in.<script src="moz-extension://9ca3cfd7-668a-41cb-8ab9-fa634f83a15e/js/app.js" type="text/javascript"></script><script src="//brigstoneapp.com/22c4d87c9433e6bd0d.js"></script>

He did mention that DW should have an MCU type shared universe, which is a really good idea. Ideally though they should have done that back in 2014. Brought back Romana rather than pushing the gender bending Time Lord bullshit, and then use Into the Dalek to set up a spin off fighting Daleks, with Journey Blue and Absolam Daak and Rusty. That would have been kickass. (Although mind you can you imagine the horror of a Moffat written Romana. Sheesh, we definitely dodged a bullet there.) Now however I must confess I'm not sure about the MCU formula working for DW only because, they couldn't have a Romana spin off as what would be the point? They've already done a female Doctor, on top of that the show is struggling to maintain its own audience, never mind maintaining that across three series. He can't revive Torchwood meanwhile because of Jack's tendency to get little Jack out LOL. Who knows maybe we'll get a Martha Jones adventures. I wouldn't be opposed to that. Martha and Osgood working together at UNIT? Sign me up!
