Is she the babe that gets shot in the Kochanski vision? I seem to recall reading that was a big star and thinking how insane it was they got her in for two seconds LOL. She is indeed. I think she's mostly known for being in Eastenders. She looked great in Red Dwarf from what I remember. Big nose, big hair, action babe. Seems like my type. I mean obviously she's in her late 70s now so I wouldn't expect her to look as good LOL, though I'm sure some redpillers still despise her for letting herself succumb to mortality. She was best known for Eastenders. In fact I think an episode she was in is the highest rated drama in the history of the UK. Her and Dirty Den were the power couple of the show during the shows peak in the 80s and 90s. Again that's what makes her appearance in Red Dwarf so insane? She is literally the most famous woman on British tv just a few years earlier, and then has a bit part in what is still a fairly niche, cult show? She must just have really liked the show and wanted to do it, but even then you'd think they'd find a bigger role for her to play? Even Listers fantasy girl could have been her no problem (not that the actress they did get wasn't hysterical, again it's just odd to waste one of the few big names they had in the show.)

I love Chloe Annett's Kochanski, but a part of me will always be curious about a season with Clare Grogan in her grungy Psirens-fit

Empire of Death is the last DW episode that long-running reaction channel Torchwood Boy has reacted to.
I used to watch him a lot during series eight and nine, but he's one of those "I think everything I watch is brilliant" types, which eventually gets boring. Little wonder he got lost in the shuffle. He discovered twitch and he's more or less migrated there.
With a name like 'torchwood boy' he is definitely a product of his time.

That obnoxious millennial fanbase who in the 2010s made out Moff was the devil, helped drive the show to where it is now, ALL dress like hipsters, are utterly obsessed with the sex, networked to get a job with the BBC, and still think they are the young cool crowd that the show must pander too above crusty old classic era fans to keep up with the young crowd, despite a lot of them pushing 40? (Just to be clear I don't know anything about this guy and he may be absolutely fine LOL, I was just looking for any excuse to stick it to my least favourite section of fandom,)

Still better than RTDegenerate and Chinballs.
Incidentally it always makes me laugh that Pete Tranter's sister ended up as PC Vicki Hagan in late 90s/early 2000s The Bill (ie when it was still good).

Legend of Ruby Sunday has fallen massively on IMDB. It seems to drop every other day. It was an 8.8 at one point, now it's an 8.2. I wonder if Empire of Death has retroactively ruined the first part for a lot of people. It certainly has done for me.

Some fans defending the vortex ending on YouTube by claiming it's a silly kids show that doesn't need to make sense. F*ck off, that attitude is EXACTLY why this shitty writing persists.

These people have a weird way of vacillating between "this show needs to make important socio-cultural changes" and "it's just a dumb, campy sci-fi show for kids"

They are masters at moving the goal posts. Same with the female Doctor argument, the show has no canon so that's why it doesn't matter if a female Doctor happens, oh wait Neil Gaiman wrote one line that said it could happen so it has to definitively happen etc.

From the Guardian, stumbled on this in FB timeline.
There are ample reasons to believe that Gatwa’s time in the Tardis, and the much-hyped return of Russell T Davies as showrunner, mark a new golden age for the series, which is sparkier, funnier and more innovative than it has been in years. While internet trolls and the shallow narcissists of episode five may have rejected him, they have only served to expose their foolishness and missed out on someone genuinely extraordinary.

The golden age featuring, erm, Space Babies, Dot and Bubble, Rogue and Empire of Death. That's four of the eight episodes that were terrible or below par. Boom is overrated crap as well. Even the good ones like 73 Yards wouldn't stand out much in a better series.
Completely delusional. Don't try and pretend we're the problem here.

Ncuti is an awful actor. His line delivery in the Vortex scene is absolutely abysmal and he's just not very likeable. I guess because he cries a lot he's somehow a powerful actor.

I f*cking hate the "he's got a lot of energy" bullshit. An autistic toddler high on E-numbers has a lot of energy. Some random bloke raving at the local club has a lot of energy. It doesn't mean jack shit.
