Depends. Nolan's stuff can be a very effective cure for insomnia.

Not that anyone here would need to worry about the possibility anyway- although I’d personally be open to it- because Nolan’s on record of saying he won’t be working in TV anytime soon.
Haven’t rumours circulated for years of Peter Jackson giving it a go? I swear there were posts on the Leisure Hive which discussed the prospect of Jackson helming a film starring McGann in the part.
In any event, I’d be receptive to any halfway talented artist or writer working on it in substitution for the current lot- Carpenter included (although that ship sailed years ago). One of NuWho’s biggest flaws is its blatant inability to evolve, coupled with the fundamental fan-obsessive nature of those running it. Someone approaching the series purely from the perspective of a writer/producer attempting to write something *worthwhile* or original would be a step up from the current shower.

How about this: Lindsay Anderson as producer with Malcolm McDowell as the Doctor?
Or Lars Von Trier as producer with Stellan Skarsgård as the Doctor?
Or Hitchcock as producer with James Stewart as the Doctor?
Or Mel Brooks producing with Gene Wilder as the Doctor? Mind you, I think the “Blazing Saddles” Doctor has already been discussed on here…
I tell you what: Thinking up these implausible scenarios is far more entertaining than discussing the current series is. 🤣

They could rehabilitate Graham Linehan’s public image and have him produce Graham Norton as the Doctor. The latter would fit *right* in…

Richard Donner as producer with Gregory Peck as the Doctor. They could reveal Father Brennan to be an alternative 2nd Doctor whose exile to Earth ended catastrophically, and Damien to be possessed by Azal.

I’m coming out with uniformly shit ideas- you’re coming out with the good ones. I’ll try to keep it coming, at least before I inevitably fall asleep.

William S. Campbell as producer with Snooky the Humanzee as the Doctor. I've just fixed the show... Yep. Any possibility of mawkishness just became completely non-existent.

Nicholas Ray producing with Humphrey Bogart as the Doctor. The Doctor could go around calling self-proclaimed “artistic” figures in charge of authoritarian regimes “popcorn salesmen”, serving as a comprehensive repudiation of what the series currently represents.
Shit- is this idea not crap enough…?

Larry Semon as producer with Larry Semon as the Doctor.
Two reels of zany slapstick antics every Saturday night, in which the Doctor hilariously falls into a pile of shit and turns black. Oh, wait...
