Here's a transcript of what RTD said RTD: So then, the whole timeline bi-regenerated. Sylvester McCoy woke up in a drawer in a morgue... and Jon Pertwee woke up on the floor of the laboratory. Phil: And Colin Baker got out up and sorted the Rani out RTD: Yes, he did. And they all did. Yeah, no. What a stupid idea. I can sort of buy into a one-time "bi-regeneration" as basically the Time Lord equivalent to twins splitting from a single embryo, but this retcon is just...bad. So you're telling me that William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker are all running around on Earth somewhere? Nobody asked for this. Jeez. And I thought Moffat was bad at handling death.

I thought that was alright. RTD doesn't have awkward pacing as much as he did in the original run. Can't help but get the feeling the end is so Tennant is on stand-by in case Ncuti Gatwa buggers it up. Maybe not being aware of spoilers helped (cause I don't care).

I wouldn't be surprised if it's so they can have this "earthbound" Doctor show up in a possible UNIT spinoff, which might be nice. I think my headcanon going forward is that this incarnation will help out on Earth so the 15th Doctor (and beyond) can explore the cosmos more. He will eventually regenerate into his past forms, as seen in Tales of the TARDIS, as well as the Curator from Day of the Doctor, revisiting old friends and living a more laid-back life on Earth (while still battling the occasional alien threat, of course).

lol What insane nonsense. So glad I'm out. For once, I absolutely concur. I'm starting to get the impression that he realised Doctor Who was close to ending, so he figured "f*ck it, I'll just do whatever I want now". Even if the show dies out, his career's too stable for it to affect him.

My head canon is that none of this inane retardation is canon.

I thought the recon for Web 3 was perfectly serviceable myself, and I hate recons. It was better than the godawful animation.

What a f*cking joke. No one could actually be a Doctor Who fan and miss the point of regeneration so completely. The entire appeal of the concept was the notion of the same character continuing in a new form. It's a fascinating, original idea that's captured the imagination for 60 years... or did until this vacuous, egotistical turd washed up and decided to just have "them" literally be a new character every f*cking time. NuWho exists to suck the wonder out of everything. To transform the extraordinary into the mundane. Maybe that's the "change" they're always telling us this shitshow is "all about". Still, I suppose it saves a vapid, shallow midwit like Fathead the insurmountable trouble of having to try and write a character that's supposed to be even remotely intelligent or cultured.
Fathead's latest twink may be more watchable than Jodie, but there isn't even the faintest hint of William Hartnell in this performance. At least we're now dropping the pretense that there's meant to be.

The whole thing just felt undercooked to me. The Toymaker was barely developed and resolved fairly unremarkably. This is a symptom of NuWho's tiny runtime. If they'd just made this a two-parter, it'd be fine.

Maybe I missed something, but I thought the Toymaker was supposed to have absolute power *within his domain*. Hence why he draws people into it. If he can just do whatever he wants in our world as well, why bother with the Toyroom to begin with?
The whole bi-regeneration thing might've been acceptable if it was just the Toymaker trolling with the Doctor in his own dimension, and the Doctor was stuck being two people as a one-off. They could've skipped the whole "Earth is coming to an end" stuff too. Hell, maybe they could've had him reveal that all the 60th specials took place within the Toyroom. And Donna herself is a facsimile. That'd be a hell of a blow.

This is what I originally expected to take place, and that the whole Tennant coming back thing would be a meta-commentary on current society's obsession with nostalgia and bringing things back from the past. I guess I put too much faith in Davies.
