To be positive slightly, I did rate the brief scene in which Tennant assumes that Wilf is dead. It ends up being made into a bit of a joke, but it was good acting.

Plotwise Star Beast was far superior, for ClassicWho nostalgia Power was better That's not really saying much, because the classic Who nostalgia is complete shit there in basically every scene other than 5/Tegan and 7/Ace.

I'm glad this didn't turn out to be the case. I assume he was meant to be in it, but they moved his scene to The Giggle when Cribbins passed, to give his appearance maximum impact.

I personally prefer Ace whacking a Dalek with a baseball bat than RTD whacking off to his own era for an hour. Each to their own, though. That's a perfect example of the show being careless though. She could only get away with it originally because the (metal) baseball bat was supercharged with whatever energy the Hand of Omega possessed. Having her do it with a regular one makes a mockery of the Daleks. I think Rose turning into a deus ex machina and spreading fairy dust which wipes them all out is a mockery too. Russell made the same mistakes Moffat and Chibnall did with the Daleks.

But it does serve Rose's character arc in that story and overall season - of taking charge and doing whatever you can instead of lazily drifting through life. She basically sacrifices herself, and it's only the Doctor's intervention (which has the consequence of him regenerating) that stops her from dying.

Yeah, but the- actually, I can't be bothered to talk about NuWho on a saturday night. I'm going to make some tea and watch something I actually like for a change.

I could watch the ClassicWho nostalgia however, whereas I couldn't watch Jodies Faketor in her rainbow paedosuit on top of the TARDIS talking shite and gurning for more than 2 seconds without skipping it.

Fans (in the UK, anyway) were treated to this 40 years ago to the day. Lucky, lucky bastards. Ah, now you see, that is something called "Doctor Who". They don't make it anymore...

I strongly recommend it for one's mental health.

Was it just me, but have Catherine Tates tits grown a size or two since she was last in the series?
Her tits looked massive in this.

Plotwise Star Beast was far superior, for ClassicWho nostalgia Power was better, but I had to skip all the Jodie bits with Power. Here’s a different take: They’re both rubbish.

On the plus side, that Meep costume was very well done. I dunno. The first thing my Dad said upon its initial appearance was: “That looks bloody awful”, and I find it hard to refute that. The Meep is a good concept but works best in illustrated format, evidenced by how rushed the story in question was. Despite the Disney budget, this looked incredibly tired. If Davies had genuine principles, he’d tell them to sod off for their Israel apologia, subsequently be praised for being genuinely progressive and have no apparent hindrance to the programme’s budget (at least based on this episode; it looks worse than the programme did a decade ago).
