A place to discuss the special after it airs.
By the way, IMDB is utterly f*cked. The episode already has a 10/10 on the site.

From a three star review by Dexerto: www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/doctor-who-the-star-beast-review-2399942/"It’s also worth noting that your mileage will likely vary on how well you think Davies handles the special’s more progressive plot and character beats. The showrunner tackles these elements of “The Star Beast” head-on and, frankly, not always in the most deft of ways. Indeed, the special essentially plays out as a bingo card of complaints the Whoniverse’s more conservative devotees have previously leveled at the franchise. At the same time, there’s genuine sincerity and heart during these moments, and for every audience member who rolls their eyes at them, at least as many will no doubt cheer. As for everyone else not in either of these camps, they’ll likely appreciate what Davies is trying to do, if not always how he goes about it."

He also mentions the story is a "relatively low stakes" adventure. It begs the question why we should even care about this. Even Silver Nemesis has more going on than this seemingly has.

Man brave enough to give RTD the slightest bit of constructive criticism/ Eh Russell I'm not sure we should do this. It's just that Missy and the PC posturing of series 8 and 9 took DW from being one of the most popular shows in the world, to a show that could barely scrap above 3 million when put after Strictly and led to it being taken off the air for one year in 2016, and Peter Capaldi, an Oscar winner who was so in love with the show that he gave up other big work to star in it, becoming so disgusted with the show he'll never reprise the role or talk about it again. Then Jodie managed to sink our viewers from even that, and well look at the response to the woke Davros? (The rest of the room is silent in disbelief at how this unmutual was allowed in. It's like the know your limits sketch with Russell fuming for a few seconds.) Russell T Davies/ You are of course fired, but before you go let me explain. You are not a genius I am, therefore I will get away with this except for a few plebby idiots who are not quite on my level yet, but in time will come to see that I was right. BEGONE!

RTD and Tennant have been pretty straight forward in interviews over what to expect from this, this is a 'nice to see you again' special, it's meant to attract lapsed viewers and those nostalgic for the 2000s with a family of characters they remember, tug at their heartstrings and bring them along a big fun PIXAR-like family adventure. It's the NEXT two specials that RTD has claimed aren't for children and are more high-stakes/bizzare/dangerous.

I know people can edit these things, but on the IMDB page for "Wild Blue Yonder" Simm is listed as being in it.

The identity politics were nuclear cringe. And I don't like how schmaltzy RTD has gotten.
The rest of it was fun. Very manic, but fun. Absolutely loved Miriam Margoyles' performance. The new TARDIS looks glorious. I'd say it's about on par with the Capaldi era in terms of quality.
