It looks like total shit. Hardly surprising when you've got people with a "I WANT TO DO IT MY WAY!" mentality in charge of it. You shouldn't pick and choose. You should make it as faithful as possible. Exactly! B Cook also states the known fact that back in the day the console was painted light green to produce a whiter product on b & w screens as it's narratively accurate. However, in no sane universe was the floor anything other than white!!! Otherwise, why aren't the walls blue too? |

I know that Skaro is an alien planet with alien minerals, but given that the floors being metallic is a major plot point, wouldn't it make more visual sense to have bronze/silver floors in the city?

What the f*ck are they playing at?
I immediately assumed upon seeing this screenshot that it was a prank. It wasn't until I saw the official tweet about an hour later that I came to the stunned realisation that this travesty is an actual BBC product.
I've always thought that this story would be a poor choice for colourisation because of how well being in black and white serves the eerie, desolate atmosphere of the Dalek City, but I at least expected a competent colourisation.
We know from An Adventure in Space and Time and several episodes from the Capaldi era that they understand how to colour these sets appropriately, so what the hell is this? Vandalism? Let's make the original show look as shit as humanly possible in order to big up RTD's new era?

(PS even though I'm a fan obviously of the big nosed goddess, Born this Way is cringey as f*ck, but that's why I love it. Oddly enough Gaga's cringeyness just makes her more sexy? Queer as Folk is the epitome of sleazy, trashy, faux edgy, unimaginative awful late 90s, early 00s tv. Lady Gaga is a product of late 00s quirky offbeat unconventional singers who had made it to the top despite being outsiders, and Born This Way (again as much as I like it as a tune.) Came to represent cheesy, millennial, identity politics, thinking music and art can save the world, virtue signalling celebrities LOL. (I'll give you RTD tried to appeal to and thought he was part of the latter, but sadly as seen with his Ming Mong comments he really wasn't.) |

 This looks awful. I'm not lying, that image actually hurts my eyes. It reminds me somewhat of the times I used to increase the saturation on my telly as a kid just to see how badly I could f*ck up the picture. Now people are getting paid to do the same thing to a Doctor Who serial! |
