WHAT David Tennant at number 1? I'm surprised. Not that I have anything against Tennant per say, I just didn't know you liked him that much?
Well for me it goes.
1/ Matt Smith. Best era, best stories, best companions, and the best take on the character. Got the Doctors weary, old, soul down perfectly, but also his youthful enthusiasm and his alien qualities too. He was both the fun uncle and the wild haired professor all in one and the most naturally eccentric. His costume and overall look were much more in keeping with the Doctor too. I'd also say Matt bridged the gap between the old, professorial Doctors, and the younger more emotional Doctors perfectly, which probably explains why he is the most popular on a global scale. There was a time when I liked him so much he was actually my third favourite Doctor after Jon and Tom, but in hindsight I knock some points off for the whole River Song thing and also because Matt I think thought a bit too much with his dick in the role LOL. A lot of people blame Moffat for that, but I think Matt himself needs to take a share of the blame. For instance his biggest regret was not doing another season where he got off with Jenna Coleman and I hear the miming getting an erection at Jenny's hot arse was his idea too. Those definitely let 11 down LOL.
2/ Peter Capaldi. Probably the best choice for the role out of the revival. An eccentric unusual looking character actor, known for playing villains and mad, bad and dangerous to know characters, who is the last person you'd expect to play a hero. Honestly he was an inspired choice. Sadly however as you know his era is when the show really lost its way, and his Doctor suffered greatly. Also he and Clara were a terrible fit for each other and sadly she was there for two of his three seasons, whilst enough has been said about Missy. It's not just that she let his stories down, she turned his Doctor into a hypocritical pussy in his dealings with her. Still he was an exceptionally good actor and always tried his best to make ice cream out of shit.
3/ David Tennant. I like him as an actor, and appreciate what a great ambassador he has been for the show. Overall I enjoy the Tenth Doctor as an angsty, Buffyesque type of tortured, brooding hero and his era is mostly solid. However he isn't faithful to the character at all. From his romances, to his trendy, modern clothes to his blubbing, to his I COULD DO SO MUCH MOOOOOORRRRREEEE he just is not believable as being the same character as the others. That said however thanks to the multiverse idea, I now don't have to picture him as them LOL, but to be honest even in a loose sequel he is better viewed in isolation.
4/ John Hurt. In hindsight the War Doctor was a mistake as it set a precedent to dick about with the past, and bring in other incarnations whilst there was someone else in the role. Still John Hurt is my favourite actor or a candidate for my favourite and he gave a really good performance that definitely matched the classic era Doctor perfectly. They should have just cast him in 2005 to be honest.
5/ Christopher Eccelston. Sorry, he is a good actor (check him out in Brian Pern where he is hysterical.) Also I really respect him for standing up to the bullying from the producers and having integrity. Finally given how much he despised the material it's hard to judge how he would have been in the role. Still as it is, the 9th Doctor is one of my least favourites. He is more of an Angel/Xena clone than the Doctor, has a terrible costume, is undermined for his companion most of the time, his stories are also mostly crap, and honestly the 9th Doctor set a bad precedent of making the Doctor this emo, tortured, romantic character than the eccentric, lovable, crazy alien uncle he should be.
6/ Jodie Whittaker. Oh dear LOL. She is an amazing, exceptional singer, I love her big nose (and the way she hasn't had work done on it or gone on about how she is ugly because of it. I mean I am sympathetic to women who have been bullied because of that don't get me wrong. Still it's always good to see a woman rock a big schnozz unapologetically as it stops other women from feeling insecure about it and I HATE seeing women get rid of their perfect big noses due to shallow c*nts.) She also seems like a nice Ducky in real life too and is very cute. Sadly however that's the only positive things I can say about her association with Doctor Who. To start with as much as I may love Claudia Boleyn, sorry a female Doctor is still a bad idea to me. It proved to be every bit as big a disaster as I had predicted in 2013 in every way. It led to the Doctors character unravelling as once you make it he can go from William Hartnell to Jodie Whittaker then nothing is safe. Any time you say "oh no they wouldn't be right for the Doctor, the Doctor can't do that." The response is "he went from Hartnell to Jodie, he can be anything" which you don't want. It also led to the show becoming more about cheap, shallow neo liberal political statements, and the actress by her own admission didn't know how to play it. If she made it feminine she felt she would be going too far from the men before her, if she made it trans it might seem insensitive when the Doctor changes back, so she just made it a default, bland, boring incarnation with nothing distinct about it.
Her costume was awful, her romance with Yaz queer baiting and insipid, clearly written by a man who still thinks it is the 80s and is unaware of how many LGBT characters there have been on tv since he was a child, her stories were also dreadful. Really there is nothing to recommend.
7/ Jo Martin. Yep there actually is one worse than Jodie. This incarnation's entire existence is an insult to the character and to the man who started it all off, William Hartnell. She's also a lazy retread of the War Doctor idea, and to be honest Jo Martin's performance was wooden, and had no personality. People say she outshone Jodie, I don't agree, at least Jodie had a ducky quality to her. Jo Martin had a...... well she told Jodie to shut up a few times and then she.............. shouted at something and then she............ told the Master he was always stupid, which btw doesn't even make sense as how the f*ck would she know who he was?
8/ David Tennant 2. The 14th Doctor. I haven't seen him yet, but I do despise the idea of the Doctor degenerating. If I still cared, I'd view that as being on a par with a female Doctor. Also it's annoying as we know why it's being done, because the female Doctor failed and they won't admit. Couple that in with their "all change is good" bullshit, and the fact that this Doctors number 1 enemy is the number 1 Amy Winehouse hater, and his companion is Donna who I find sooooooooooooooooooo overrated, then yeah not keen on this lazy nostalgia bait.
I haven't seen Ncuti, but honestly I doubt he'll rank as high as Matt. He'll probably be above Tennant 2 and Jo, but that's not saying much.

1. David Tennant - these three series are the paragon of what modern Doctor Who should look like. I am confident nothing will reach their height again, it was just the right show in the right place at the right time. 2. Peter Capaldi - an obvious pick for the best actor to have played the role. I loved the direction they were taking the character in series 8, and for the most part enjoyed him in series 10, but I hate series 9. A lot. In every way it just fails as a cogent piece of television. For this reason I can only put Capaldi in second place, that and some of the comedy bits are sketchy. 3. Christopher Eccleston - in retrospect probably the wrong actor for the part, but his one series was so consistent and just, good. No story is a real miss for me, even the Long Game and Boomtown, which are each charming little gems on their own. I've made this point before but this series feels like a pilot run for the ensuing David Tennant years, not that that detracts from it but it is a very strange and interesting watch all these years later. It's almost vintage television at this point. 4. Matt Smith - a phenomenal actor trapsing through three series' worth of mediocre, bumbling, confused storytelling from Mr. Moffat. By far my least revisited NuWho Doctor (aside from the 13th), for the simple fact that none of his stories are that good. This was the era when I started to lose interest as a child, and I have only the complete nonsense of the Silence arc and the entirety of series 7 to blame. Every story from series 6 and 7 is drenched in this typical malaise of averageness. At least Capaldi's era had massive peaks and troughs. 5. Jodie Whittaker - not a lot to say here really. Anything I can say has been said already countless times, which is reason enough for this ranking. Seriously, everything about this era was a misstep. No wonder RTD is starting again from series 1. 6. John Hurt - he was hyped up as this forbidden, locked-away incarnation, only for him to turn out to be a granddad going on about sand shoes and whatnot. I get what they were going for in terms of the Doctor only locking him away because of the trauma of the War rather than him not being "the Doctor", when in actual fact he's the same lovable character we've always known, doing his best to get through a rough situation. Still, this incarnation lacks screen time and really only exists as a placeholder for Eccleston (though personally I think it should have been McGann in the role; it would then make sense why the 9th Doctor checks himself out in the mirror at Rose's place).
N/A: Jo Martin - it's such a joke that there's no bother even ranking it. Same goes for the other Timeless Children.

1. Matt Smith 2. Peter Capaldi 3. David Tennant 4. Ecclesbone 5. The Faketor Shittaker
First two are great Doctors saddled with a lot of shit stories, Tennant could be okay at times and an annoying prat at others, Ecclesbone never convinced and Shittaker I couldn't even watch she was so awful.
I'm not even going to include Jo Martin or John Hurts Faketors because they're just shoe-horned in jokes, not real Doctors.(not that any of NuWho's Doctors are, but they are lesser so)

In fact to be really anal about it, 9 is the first Doctor not to kill a Dalek on screen apart from possibly 6. (And 8 who never faced them on screen.)
Hartnell helped f*ck up their machines in Dalek Invasion, left the machine that blew them up in the chase, and set off the Time Destructor.
Peter Cushing turned the robomen on them and sucked them into the earth's core.
Troughton caused their machines to overload in Power and kicked a Dalek off a cliff in Evil.
Pertwee caused one to have a mental breakdown, threw rocks on one's head, threw another into a pool of molten liquid and caused an ice volcano to bury hundreds on screen.
Tom blew the incubator room up in Genesis, blew one up with a bomb meant for Davros, killed one with a hat LOL and blew the others up all onscreen.
Davison, threw one through a window, then shot it to be sure while it was uncased, blew another two up and killed the others with chemical warfare.
Colin this is a bit tricky. He DID shoot one's eye stick out and then had Peri place a bomb on it. However Peri was still the one who put the bomb on it, so do we count it for her or him?
McCoy, leaving aside blowing up Skaro and the mothership which both happened onscreen, McCoy blew one up with Ace's nitro, caused another to be ripped apart by a teleporter, and short circuited one LOL. Also if we count Colin's then he helped kill the three surrounding Ace with his gun that gave them mental breakdowns, and he gave Ace a weapon to smash the f*ck out of them, which she and others used to, well smash the f*ck out of them. Oh and he talked a Dalek into killing itself.
Eccelston however, he didn't kill a single one. The first Dalek killed itself, Jack zapped the other Dalek, and like I said he did bugger all against them, with it being Billie Piper who had to pull his ass out of the fire (which is kind of sexy having her save him, but a bit lame for the darker, edgier Doctor.)
Funnily enough Tennant didn't kill any Daleks directly either during his era. He DID pull them into the void, but they were technically still alive. Meanwhile his clone was the one who had the guts to vaporize them in Journey's End. He helped kill a Dalek in the 50th directly at least.
Peter Capaldi meanwhile didn't. He did cause the regeneration energy to make the older Daleks attack them, but even then in terms of doing it with his bare hands or at least activating the weapon that blows them up, no he never did.
Matt, John Hurt and believe it or not f*cking Jodie are actually the only New Who Doctors to kill Daleks onscreen on their own and even then Matt didn't do it on his own until his last story when he air guitared the Dalek fleet into oblivion. Pretty incredible when you consider how often the Doctor blew them to f*ck in the old series LOL.

Maybe because having them blow up after falling not even 20 feet from a balcony delegitimises them as villains you're supposed to fear? (if you haven't worked it out yet, I hate 80s Who lol). There's a reason the Daleks felt so threatening in the Eccleston/Tennant years, both of whom never directly managed to kill them. As for the 14th Doctor, yeah I think it's a stupid idea just like any other rational person would. This endless bringing stuff back is like trying to reanimate a corpse. Just never gonna happen.

(Though for the record season 23 is bullshit, and season 20 is a snore fest, and JNT was responsible for the worst visual effects in tv history during the Davison run.)

Ditto. It's all about the presentation. Regardless of what did and didn't happen, the Daleks were directed and filmed in a way that made them more menacing than in any other era. I believed they were borderline invincible as a kid, purely because of the Eccleston stories.
In the 1960s era, they were also quite eerie. After that, they were a joke. Even in Genesis, they were just a prop to Davros. And Remembrance - despite being quite fun - was just an action schlock fest with wobbly plastic Daleks blowing up everywhere. Hardly threatening.

It did come up. I'm happy to have you here in spite of your objectively wrong opinions about 80s who LOL as we don't want this becoming an 80s who circle jerk. (Though for the record season 23 is bullshit, and season 20 is a snore fest, and JNT was responsible for the worst visual effects in tv history during the Davison run.) Yeah I noticed there is a real 80s bent going on in here. I will say for the record that I enjoy Sylvester McCoy's seasons (yes, even 24), but most other 80s Who (and to an extent late 70s Who) completely sucks balls lol

Still I think in spite of everything we have a fair amount of RTD fanboys here, with Rushy, Henshin, you, Zarius, Rani, and now it would seem Maxil LOL. We're not quite as anti New Who as people think. Remember even I enjoy its first seven seasons. I actually think Anoraks and Caprona are more anti New Who as I genuinely couldn't find any new who fans on either. (Apart from Zarius.)
