The mantra of the woketurd: "It's okay when we do it." This post on reddit about Gina Carano takes the cake. I was looking up things about her court case today to see if it had progressed and a reddit thread came up. I couldn't help myself. I try not to look at them, but they pull me in. As you can imagine they were 100 percent on Disney's side, who are hiring a literal rape enabler to crush her, but this post here stood out. It's hilarious. It truly is the ramblings of a lunatic and it got hundreds of likes. It was about the possibility of Gina coming back to the Mando. I mean, if her character is shot offscreen and never seen or heard and provides motivation for the rest of mandos crew to kick ass, then sure. If they just put her back in there voluntarily I wont watch it, and give it a 0 rating. I am sick of this wannabe nazis and their whining. If she wins a lawsuit, I would have SOOOO much fun as a Disney writer "No, no, then she falls into the waist deep pool of rotting meat maggots in the sewer and then she has to escape by swimming under the filth to get out to the rocky twisted root forest of Anklebreak, where she has to run while carrying mando on her back, no, lots of closeups to show the efforts, no stunt double. SO, once they get through the forest, we get to the burning sands desert where she has to crawl through the desert in the noonday sun to retrieve a cactus. No, no, we already got permission to film in death valley in august. That then leads us to the arctic beach storm scenes and the water rescue swimming...LMAO this is some seriously hilarious misogynistic shit isn't it and it's from the woketard side. This makes Stefan Molyneux look like Peter Cushing. I dislike Missy as you may have noticed, but if I get to the point where I start fantasizing about all the ways I could torture Michelle Gomez on set by making her eat maggots and take part in torture scenes where she gets beaten up, you have my permission to shoot me in the head. On the contrary I based a heroic character off of Michelle as I was worried I was coming over as a bit of a bully, given how much I dislike Missy. Nothing personal against her I just hated what Missy represented in how characters are portrayed, but even then I was worried I'd gone too far. Glad I never got to torture fantasies in regards to anyone I dislike. At least in my bondage fantasies Famke Janssen dominates me. Kind of reminds me of this New Statesman joke when Alan B'stard is with a dominatrix and starts beating her up. "I'm not a masochist. I'm a sadist. I'm supposed to hit you!" Honestly I'm not going to look up anything more about that court case as it's too tempting to get sucked in and call out these people's hypocrisy and it's the biggest waste of time imaginable, other than a few lols like this comment. Still it does show the viciousness of these people. I mean the hilarity of that comment aside, you wouldn't want to work for someone like that would you? Someone who openly admits to wanting to abuse their power, is completely biased. These people are a serious problem. Why it really is best to keep your head down about politics in todays climate. Imagine your boss doing that to you and there's no way you can fight back? Truly terrifying situation to be in.

I'd like to add Red Dwarf fandom to the list of GOOD fandoms. It's always been really chill and funny. Probably because it's a bit of an outsider among fandoms and therefore hasn't fallen victim to the same elitism and neurosis and culture wars crap that others have. It also has a healthy mix of fanboys and fangirls which is always nice, as there is less tribalism that way. It's sad but it's true gender specific fandoms tend to lead in this day and age to politics taking over and insecurities about the opposite sex spilling out.
(It's funny of all the characters Rimmer has an insane amount of fan girls. Most fan girls like to think they could get to the nice guy underneath it seems LMAO.)
Red Dwarf escaped the fate of other franchises because it was overlooked as a sci fi show for years due to being a comedy, whilst as a comedy show it was also looked down on by the elites and the snobs of the comedy world and their toadies like Caitlin Moran.
Armando Iannuci and Stuart Lee for instance used to regularly trash the show for being trite in their eyes. (I'd take that as a compliment from both though. Iannuci is hideously overrated. He's Ben Elton level at best, IE marginally funny when he clings to others coat tails like Rik Mayall and Steve Coogan, though again I think that is a little unfair to Ben Elton, it's certainly true of Ianucci.) Stuart Lee meanwhile is the most pompous, obnoxious, trumped up farty little smeghead of a comedian I've ever encountered.

It's also worth noting that Red Dwarf has uniquely managed to retain its identity through the years largely because Doug Naylor has always been at the helm. And Naylor's never succumbed to the trend of dividing the fandom (RTD) or toying with audience expectations (Moffat) in vain attempts to draw social media attention. I will say that he HAS developed the habit of addressing social issues in episodes like Timewave, Mechocracy and M-Corp, but those stories are still primarily about having fun.
Doug's old-school. He's pragmatic.

Timewave isn't one of my favourites but I appreciate the sentiments of the script.

Red Dwarf fandom is an absolute hoot. Definitely my favourite alongside Buffy. Even its reddit page is an absolute blast.
Again both fandoms have lots of guys and girls, unlike Xena fandom that's mostly insane man hating feminists, or classic who that used to have a balance, but in the 90s became mostly guys and became horribly insecure, self loathing and prey to charlatans in a pathetic attempt to be keeeeewwwwwwwllll.
It just goes to show you what happens to a sci fi fandom when the stigma is removed, as RD is a comedy and Buffy was a show full of young, hot people.
Only thing I've not liked about the reddit page was finding out the truth about the guy who played Elvis in Meltdown. Obviously that wasn't their fault, but oh dear god. That used to be one of my favourite guest performances.
"Arnie Rimmer's death machiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnee."
Now not so much to say the least.

Signed up to a big Amy Winehouse forum. They are really nice. My only problem with Amy fandom is that it's a bit depressing. Again I didn't hold that against them as she died at just 27 (I think everyone on this forum has already outlived her?)
Still she did so many great things in her short life. She really is the epitome of that Lazarus Experiment line that some do more in 20 years when you compare her life to say Henry Kissinger or George W Bush or Tony Blair.
I mean leaving aside the incredible musical accomplishments she made which in some cases are more than people with 60 year careers accomplish, she also did so much to help the people in her life, from the Scottish girl who was broke and homeless she took in for a year, to her friend whose life saving medicare she paid for and her god daughter Dionne Bromfield whose career she started etc.
I feel this often isn't commented on because everybody in the fandom is too upset at the bad treatment she got. (I'm not throwing stones as I myself have been like that too.)
Still the fandom is really nice and welcoming. Again it's a fandom with a 50/50 split of men and women. Honestly that does seem to be the key to getting good fandoms. I used to think female fandoms were better than male ones, NOT because I was a Paul Cornell thinking "oh women are better than men" or rather claiming he thinks that to get laid. It was more because female fans of things aren't as insecure about looking like a Warren Mears type if they are really passionate about something, so there's less tedious self loathing crap like there was with DW fandom.
However sadly I've since seen that female fandoms can be very cliquey in different ways to male ones, and ironically they can often be nastier to women too. (I remember the absolute nastiest person about Amy Winehouse after she died was a woman. She ran a FB page calling her ugly that had 90 thousand likes and when she died she actually wrote "Dead LOL" and said "she might smell better now that she's a corpse!")
A healthy dose of men and women in a fandom stops both sides from letting their bitterness at the opposite sex, and their own sex LOL from spilling out into the discourse. Of course I'm not saying that it always has to be that way, and it didn't use to back in the day, but yeah within the last 10 or 15 years single sex dominated fandoms have become a f*cking nightmare.
Red Dwarf, Amy Winehouse and Buffy are the best so far.

I will say in all fairness I think it was a mistake for Gina to be part of that rally in support of Trump. I mean it's not like she said anything bigoted, or anything at all about trans people or Palestine. (The only time she mentioned it was ironically to criticise Hillary Clinton for arming Israel against Iran and Palestine for profit in dodgy deals.) It was all about the wars will supposedly end (which I don't think he will) and the children being sold into slavery he'll help.
Still it's soooo much better not to get involved in politics. I mean look at someone like Peter Cushing? His legacy is completely untarnished and will always be. Katey Sagal similarly look at how safe it is to say you love her, because she has never made a single political statement in her life. Believe me if my fiction ever did take off I'd stop writing political things online right away.
That said I won't judge her anymore than the celebs shilling for Kamala who really is no better or worse than Trump. Also at least Gina didn't call everyone on the other side retards, or not true fans of hers because her fans are too smart to vote for the other side, like John Cleese and Eminem did, or say she'd get her vagina out and show it to us if we voted for Trump, which is what Mark Ruffalo said he'd do in 2016 if we voted for Hillary in regards to little Mark, and it's not like she made fun of a guy who was assassinated, slut shamed a woman for doing a racy photo shoot, called her opponents Nazis, used her dead friends Birthday to make a political point, or told a kid to go f*ck himself like Mark Hamill has done LOL.
Either it's all okay or none of it's okay and she certainly has a right to sue Disney for slandering her as a Nazi and ruining her life, but yeah if I was her friend I'd say "don't do another rally like that, as all you do is compromise yourself for certain viewers when you don't need too."

I was watching Ash Vs Evil Dead, starring Lucy Lawless last night. I had it on whilst I was writing. It is an endlessly rewatchable show, but one thing I noticed was it's pretty bad portrayal of a trans character. Now I'm not saying the show is transphobic. Obviously not, but given the extent at which these freaks on that Xena reddit page condemned Gina Carano as transphobic despite only ever making ONE remark about pronouns that she apologised for 3 years ago, well I couldn't help but wish I had remembered this when I got caught up in that drama. I obviously can't go back as the thread was deleted by the mods and I don't want to go back there again anyway, so in case any of those freakshows stumble upon this thread LOL, I hope they read it.
Yes I'm a petty man, but still whilst this might be funny, remember that these types of righteous PC do gooders do ruin people's lives over this shit. Okay in this case it's Gina Carano, a millionaire, but how many ordinary people have similarly been blacklisted and not had the money to fall back on because of self righteous, arrogant, mob mentality c*nts like the people on that Xena page who just don't listen to reason, have made their minds up, and love a chance to bully someone?
(PS I do have a bit of a personal stake in this as I admit I was fired from a job by a PC do gooder. What happened was we were talking about who our favourite singers were and I said Amy of course, but then I later said "it's a good thing nobody mentioned Gary Glitter" and I was reported for that, told I was undermining sexual assault victims and fired. A most traumatic experience all around. I couldn't use them as a reference either which really affected me for a long while.)
Anyway yes Ash Vs Evil Dead features a trans character who is pretty much every stereotype rolled into one. She talks in a big man's voice, she's only there to be a gag, she's a degenerate pervert who is a prostitute, cowardly and panicy and ignorant in the face of the Demons, and finally she dies in a pretty horrific way. Her arm is broken off, her throat is ripped out and then she is smashed through glass and her face mangled. The only thing anybody says about her death is one of her customers saying "awwww you were so generous."
Now given the nature of the show that uses stereotypes, non pc humour and everybody dies horrible deaths etc. It doesn't bother me, but those c*nts who are so f*cking precious they think ONE comment that could be seen as bigoted if you squint hard enough is justification for ruining someone's life, making them a pariah and insulting their looks and sexuality, then okay Lucy Lawless who was in every single scene with that character, and whose husband created and wrote that character should be judged just as harshly.
Let's call her a fat, old bitch with a heavy jaw, let's make sure she never works again. She hasn't apologised for that caricature, and what if we demanded that she attend a meeting with 50 LGBT people telling her why she was wrong for 2 hours (which Disney demanded Gina do.) Do you think Lucy Lawless would do that? Of course not! Nobody would. Hell she probably wouldn't even accept she was in a transphobic show, as again who wants to admit that? Therefore, yes she would be guilty of all the same things and logically they should then condemn her no matter what she's done in the past to support LGBT people and try and ruin her life.
(PS whilst I don't think AVED was transphobic on paper that comes over as worse than what Gina did. The only trans character in the series is like I said every negative stereotype rolled into one and in an age when trans people are being violently attacked, to make light of it is well, very iffy.)
