I think it's pretty obvious they don't want any fans of actual Dr Who anymore. Fine with me.

Davies will lay out all the 'controversial changes' that are happening in the in-vision commentary for The Giggle.

I'm really surprised characters aren't referring to the Doctor as "they" instead of "he." Maybe that might change when Ncuti arrives?

I can't link the actual article because it's behind a paywall, but this is the headline of one from the Telegraph: "New Doctor Who episodes will upset diehard fans, says Russell T Davies
Showrunner says the series is taking a sly step towards fantasy, which may annoy those who see it as a hard science-fiction show"Didn't I mention this exact thing the other day? You might as well just email me and tell me that you don't want me to watch the show. It appears to be largely lifted from the Radio Times.

I read a similar article where he ends up slagging off a couple of Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials (To Hull and Back in particular) because they weren't proper Chrismassy episodes.

Even without a laughter track, 1985's To Hull and Back is one of the finest OFAH Christmas Specials from the era before it became overfamiliarly schmaltzy...which goes a long way to explaining why RTD2 finds it to be at odds with his ideology of snow, sentiment, slush and other words beginning with 's'.

Managed to purloin the Comments in response to that cut 'n' paste Telegraph article.

I wonder how this new RTD will be taken in the social media age? I imagine exactly like the Star Wars Prequels. Read the MSM, you'd think nothing was wrong with all their celebratory, don't spoil the party takes. But dissenting social media will have a way bigger impact than the last time, like it did with The Last Jedi. Youtube will be the difference. In the spirit of RTD self-congratulation, here is my highly predictive post from last september. The only thing I got slightly wrong was the MSM did join in a bit too.

These really were a pile of shit. I had high hope for The Giggle as well. If someone had told me ten years ago that the Celestial Toymaker and Mel would return in the same story I would have told them politely not to stalk my dreams. Sadly, it was a complete non event like the other two.

I'm just so glade I stuck to my guns and didn't bother watching any of them. What a f*cking insulting to start a new era of the show on after the utter disaster that was the Jodie era. I even felt bad for Tennent era fans when I saw just how bloody contemptable RTD was being. Never have I seen someone so blindly and happily shit all over their own prior work to such a digree.

I'd have been hard pressed not to plant the controller through the screen if I'd watched this shit show. I can't even get a bloody decent animation of the Toymaker ffs.

They were atrocious beyond all imagination. What else is there to say?
How in the world is anyone still a fan of this show? How?
