You may hate me for saying this NuWho is, perhaps, the logical conclusion of TruWho.
Fathead, MofFAT, and Chibbynall were all true who fans in fact the truest of the true who fans. Only second to Ian Levine (who loves the vast majority of NuWho). Reddit is not exactly a place young people go to hang out its mostly 30s-40s people who were alive for the tail end of NuWho and the wilderness years. Is it that all the people who watched true who were idiots who just misunderstood the program? Or is this what Doctor Who was all along? I think RTD in the Giggle basically stated this, within the 14th Doctor (David Tennant who is a massive fan of the 3rd and 5th doctors) is a gay black man without pants. Who calls others "honey" and goes dancing at clubs. You may not like it, you may hate it with every fiber of your being. But its the logical conclusion to TruWho. If truwho was never taken off air you know would be running it? The same people who do so now.
I dont even know why you lot are sticking around. The entire thing is hogwash. I cant watch anything without thinking it all ends up with a sassy gay black man. The truth about Doctor Who the pill which most of you refuse to swallow is that Doctor Who is dead. He has been dead for years. But before he was
KILLED by RTD he was deprived of his dignity. He lost far more than his life. There is no hope you cant even take refuge in the past because it all ends up here.
The 1st Doctor a gay sassy black man who wears a dress.
He also wasnt the 1st Doctor but just one incarnation of 100s.
When the 2nd Doctor was holding Jamie's hand I guess he wanted to &*%^.
Throughton was pioneering the RTD lifestyle with a older man "guiding" a younger one.
The 3rd Doctor is in the words of Ncuti Gatwa "I feel a connection to him, our Doctors are the only two who dress like sluts".
That is what the 3rd Doctor is a used up dime a dozen slut, a f*cking whore.
The 4th Doctor wears a dress and calls people honey.
The 5th Doctor must have been egg that would hatch with the casting of Jodie.
The 6th Doctor well he wore a rainbow coat he would fit perfectly in with NeoNuWho
The 7th Doctor schemes ended up with him getting wasted at a club at 3AM.
The 8th Doctor literally who? They replaced him with an aloof old man.
You can judge a tree by its fruits and if the fruits of WHO are ROTTEN to the core, then the its the tree must be evil.
There is no such thing as nuwho there is no such thing as truewho.
I wasted all that time for nothing. I was fooled sold a bunch of lies by "True"Who fans telling me there is still hope.
In 2 more weeks Disney will cancel the show. You will see the ratings are down!
I wonder what the cope will be when NeoNuWho is still going strong in 2026.
It is more likely they completely de-canonize all of "True"Who then make the Doctor a normal man again.
Micheal Grade was a hero if only he had done it sooner. He foresaw the future you hated him. Micheal Grade foresaw the "oncoming storm" but failed if only he was around in 1963 to stop this mess where it started.
Is it better to have not known something? Than it is to know it and then lose it?
"Would you rather die all slaves or would your rather Doctor Who be dead and live all free men"
Sorry but that is a ridiculous post.
To start with I am not watching New Who because I think it will be good, never mind like classic who. I freely admit at this stage it's just because of morbid curiosity, watching a car crash mentality that I have it on in the background when I'm doing other stuff. I do concede that I got pissed off at the first two episodes though. That wasn't about it not being like classic who however or corrupting the DW name. I more got pissed off because I think of all the good sci fi writers, actors, directors out there who don't get recognition or opportunities and there is RTD being given a huge gig with Disney and honestly based on those two episodes he wasn't even trying. At that point there had also just been a huge thing against Gina Carano online for suing Disney and again seeing her genuine incredible talent get wasted and RTD be hailed as a genius for that absolute shit, yeah it set me off two weeks ago LOL. Still at the very least RTD's game's been rumbled now it seems so I don't get so pissed off. (There are plenty of other people outside of DW that make me react that way, like that little scrotum faced sack of brain dead, ugly minded, cockroach shit Eminem. Why the f*ck was he not laughed at out of existence? Comedians dogpiled on Amy Winehouse but not that c*nt. I'm a very bitter person when it comes to entertainment LOL.)
Meanwhile New Who truly does have nothing to do with the original series. Classic Who was a totally different production that ran from 1963-1989 that wrapped and then that was that. Anything anyone does decades after will only ever be an alternate or possible sequel, like the many sequels to Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories over the centuries. There have already been 4 alternate sequels to Classic Who by the way. New Who itself, Scream of the Shalka, Death Comes To Time, and the 8th Doctor novels, none of which can possibly be connected to each other. Why do fans have such a hard time accepting that there will undoubtedly be another one at some point?
Also who is to say if RTD and Moffat and Chibnall would have run the show in the 90s? Remember that JNT and Andrew Cartmell
hated most of the Fitzroy Crowd. JNT actually created an avatar of Chris Chibnall and killed him in The Greatest Show in The Galaxy (and had him killed for being a useless c*nt who couldn't run the expy of DW, the psychic circus properly.) Cartmell not only rejected a script by RTD but was unusually harsh to a young, up and coming writer and basically told him to give up writing science fiction at all.
"You'd be better placed writing a story about a man, his mortgage and his dog."
To be honest that's not much better than the famous Heat Magazine comment LOL. Of course Cartmell has since had to tow the party line and say that new who is fabulous, but yeah that reflects his true thoughts.
JNT also hated the virgin new adventures a lot of these wankers started with too btw.
These wankers getting hold of DW said far more about the BBC than it did DW itself. Remember Leonard Nimoy and Steven Spielberg also both wanted to do something with Who in the 90s. Yeah what do those guys know about science fiction LOL. Sadly the BBC who sneer at sci fi would have looked down on Leonard Nimoy as someone from a crappy sci fi show, but RTD, Moffat and Chibnall who all did "proper telly" before writing for the show would have been seen as proper writers to make it respectable.
Meanwhile RTD, Moffat and Chibnall were far from the truest of who fans. RTD has openly voiced his contempt for its lack of gravitas, stated that it was nothing but a joke to people for 20 years until he came along. Moffat also basically admitted he only really liked the 5th Doctor and slagged the rest of it off. Chibnall meanwhile openly admitted in 2012 that he hasn't watched a second of DW since it finished in 1989.
All of them liked it as kids, but virtually never returned to it in the decades after. Think they bought the videos or DVDs? Their general knowledge on the show is painfully bad. RTD thinks the Doctor never used a gun or lethal force, Chibnall said a defining feature of the Doctor is he doesn't throw punches, Moffat thinks the Cybermen on Telos had nothing to do with the ones on Mondas, that Roger Delgado and Jon Pertwee NEVER once played the Master and Doctor as enemies, that they were just great fans having a laugh etc. In the 90s they didn't want to revive DW out of love for it. They saw it first as a little club they could dominate and monopolise and then use to launch their own careers to international level. RTD tried to make Torchwood, but no one would buy it, so he spun it off from DW.
Really what happened to DW in terms of the Fitzroy takeover is not unusual. It happened to Godzilla in 1998. Rolland Emmerich similarly didn't like Godzilla and tried to reshape it into something else to make money.
The difference is that Godzilla fandom wasn't sewn up by Emmerich's toadies. Also as I have documented in other posts, in all fairness, Godzilla didn't get the brutal treatment from the media that DW did, which absolutely bred a kind of self loathing among DW fans in the 90s and an overwhelming desire for it to be successful again which led to them being taken in by their schiester unlike Godzilla fans and evidently a lot of them ended up being taken in too deep and couldn't admit they were wrong.
Also remember that a lot of RTD's fans are in their 30s now too. It was 20 years ago. Also a lot of these redditors are LGBT activists who for some inexplicable reason have seized on DW as a gay icon. Here is a quote from Reddit on DW today. This was in response to my RTD has set back gay representation post that I copy and pasted there, admittedly just to see what they would say.
Ppl have been reading the doctor as p gay for aaaaages (to a lot of ppl, your description of classic who is completely aligned with interpreting him as a semi-closeted queer man). The womanising was the only real aberration. Queer ppl have been a major part of the doctor who audience since the start, and never far from the creative team. If you want gay ppl to make art that excludes our own people and culture, you're ridiculous.
Get over your homophobia.Again it's insane that these activist types zero in on a show about a sexless hero, when there are so many other
actual LGBT icons out there from Lady Gaga, to Queen, to Elliot Page, not to mention dozens of iconic LGBT themed genre shows and films from Xena to Umbrella Academy, to Buffy, to Van Helsing, to Legends of Tomorrow out there? Again though it is that old mentality that everyone has of I don't want my toy, I want yours, and on top of that for a lot of these people, it's just a way to network, climb the social ladder at the BBC (again think Benjamin Cook actually likes it, given what he did with the Daleks? Clearly not, but it pays his bills) or they're just ignorant people who know f*ck all about the genre and have stumbled upon DW because it is popular and think it represents the entire genre. Or and it must be said some of them are simply bigoted and want to attack DW because it was seen as a guys show for a while.
Look at our former member here Penny. She was just a bigoted man hating lesbian, I remember Iank described her as a cliche of the man hating lesbian and f*ck he wasn't wrong. I'm not saying that all or most lesbians are like that to be clear. (On the contrary lesbians make the best Duckys, hence why Sammy was so well observed.) Still Penny clearly was just a bigot. She outright hated men and anything men might like, and
any other LGBT/female empowerment thing that didn't shit on men. For instance she loved Supergirl saying it was empowering and amazing and it shat on men all the time, but hated Xena that never did and thought it was fake lesbian shit designed to appeal to men (despite that fact that like 97 percent of Xena fans are lesbians btw, but funnily enough as a straight white man I've never had to sell my testicles to be a part of that fandom the way Mr TARDIS has to for new who. Similarly she loved Missy a character that as I've been over is actually demeaning to women, being nothing but a guys fantasy about the female villain wanting the male heroes dick, but because she again takes a role away from men, that's great.)
Finally you should not ever view Michael Grade as a hero. Honestly what is it with DW fans and even some actors like Katy Manning trying to reassess Michael Grade as anything other than a nasty, vindictive little c*nt?
It's f*cking masochism as far as I can see. I get masochism if it's big Fam or Maze from Lucifer doing the whipping LOL, but Michael Grade? Want to blame anyone for what it became, blame him. I don't mean for cancelling it, I mean the way he and his c*nty friends ensured that the media constantly bashed the show which is what led to the self loathing fanboy mentality that allowed people like RTD, Moffat and Chibnall and later activists to play on the fans insecurities.
