Oh dear god the Guardian has outdone itself with this one. FFS! Will Smith himself has publicly apologised and referred to his behaviour as unreasonable and pathetic. This is just soft bigotry of low expectations from a pathetic excuse for a paper.

The paper is sometimes good for the lolz but it's generally complete trash.

How did Chris Rock's face feel about the BLM sentiments embodied in Will Smith's fist..?

But then he'd have to shit virtually.

How did Chris Rock's face feel about the BLM sentiments embodied in Will Smith's fist..? We don't know, but it's a good job Smith then announced in his tear-stained acceptance speech that he wanted to be a vessel for love. If he wanted to be a vessel for hate he'd have probably launched America's entire nuclear arsenal towards Russia!

it's a good job Smith then announced in his tear-stained acceptance speech that he wanted to be a vessel for love. Ah, so he came out at the ceremony as well, then? So that's 2 out of 3 Hollywood requirements ticked off the list. I think it goes without saying that he "Struggles with mental health issues", so that takes care of #3.
All in all though, bit of an unconvincing performance, wasn't it? Hardly Oscar-worthy. One can't help but wonder if he's only been given one because he's spent the last few years bitching that "people of colour" (read; Will Smith) never win any...
Smith: "The academy is racist!"
The Academy: "Have an Oscar"
Smith: "the academy is not racist"
The Academy: "Are you satisfied now?"
Smith: "Yes"
The Academy: "Will you complain if no black person ever wins an award again?"
Smith: "No"
The Academy: "I think we understand each other"

I think he'll come out next year, when he complains queer POC's never win Oscars. "Take my boyfriend out of your f*cking mouth!" Ironically he got in trouble early in his film career when he refused to kiss a man (in Six Degrees Of Separation), so it'll quite the gay U-turn!

What is he dribbling about? Prayer? Also I love the way he tries to make out it was a heat of the moment thing. Will Smith got out of his chair and walked about 20 feet to hit Chris Rock ffs.

I've always found Denzel Washington talks a load of old codswallop, as great as he was in films like Training Day and Crimson Tide. Maybe it's when the devil gets hold of him. Perhaps they should learn that audiences preferred the brawling to the tear-filled self-obsession?

Perhaps they should learn that audiences preferred the brawling to the tear-filled self-obsession? They can't pick and choose. In Hollywood it all comes in one pre-packaged ball of cognitive dissonance. One size fits all.
