Well I've had exactly the same symptoms, did a test and it was Covid. I'm still in self-imposed isolation. Don't feel too ill from it though. Is this the second time you've have COVID? I think I could be getting it a second time. Felt really bad lately. No, it's the first time actually. I was very surprised when the test came back positive because I thought it was just a mild head cold. I certainly don't feel that ill, just a bit of a sniffle and dehydrated, with some difficulty sleeping.

Fortunately, I'd pretty much reached my annual leave when I caught it so haven't have to book any time off work, but I may have given it to my boss which might get me in hot water when I go back in again in the New Year.

Been on a bit of a Bond marathon lately. Watched Dr.No and From Russia with Love last week (loved both of them) and had a blast watching Moonraker earlier. Will probably watch the other two Lewis Gilbert directed films soon as well. Haven't watched proper Who at all this year!

Well we're less than a month in yet. I've seen The Rescue from proper Who but that's it as yet.

Vicki ain't bad for a scouse. Well Hartnell couldn't keep his groping hands off her for more than 5 seconds.

Vicki ain't bad for a scouse. Well Hartnell couldn't keep his groping hands off her for more than 5 seconds. Eeeeeeewwwww it wasn't like that at all. He was a father figure to her off set. Apparently that led to a fight between him and another actor on the set of the Myth Makers because he was also a mentor to her and Hartnell felt jealous. For years there was a rumour it was because that other actor was Jewish and Gay, but that wasn't true at all. Hartnell was a bit old fashioned (to be fair he was born in the Edwardian era.) Still he wasn't a bigot to that extent. He's already been slandered enough as an old racist, let's not slander him as a groper too.

Going to watch Godzilla vs King Ghidorah later today when I finish work. It contains this classic moment in cinema.

Yeah, I've heard the rumours that Hartnell was a bit of a bigoted homophobe and antisemite too, but I question the validity of such rumours when he was frequently working with Jewish and gay collegues. If he were that bigoted then he'd have just buggered off from the programme long, long before he did rather than stay in such an environment. As for touching up Vicki, it's not slander, the evidence is on camera. His roaming hands are all over her all of the time! He can't help himself. To be fair, she doesn't appear objectional to his wandering mitts grasping and groping all over her, so it's presumably consentual. She probably liked the extra texture on older digits.

Poor Burronjour, still making the mistake of taking Rob seriously.

Will probably watch the other two Lewis Gilbert directed films soon as well. Haven't watched proper Who at all this year! Watched Goldfinger last night. Not as good as the first two movies, but fairly enjoyable for the most part. I like the stuff in Switzerland where Bond spies on the factory and meets the lovely Tilly Masterson character. The car chase is very well done, too. Unfortunately the movie grinds to a halt during the section at Goldfinger's Stud farm. The Gangster scene is very stupid because not only do they have the worst American accents, but if Goldfinger was going to kill them all anyway what was the actual point of showing them his plan? The movie does pick up again though with the raid on Fort Knox and the battle within Fort Knox itself. It's clearly not America (much of the American scenes were shot in the UK with Connery not even stepping foot in the US), but I like the design of the gold depository. The movie has a lot of pretty girls in it most notably Tania Mallet, Shirley Eaton, Margaret Nolan and all of Pussy Galore's pilots. Blackman is fine too of course. I like her character as well although she plays very little part in the finale which is a shame. It's a fun and extravagant 60s film which sadly lacks the serious spy thriller feel of the previous two movies. Still, despite a few shortcomings it nevertheless has a lot of charm and without this film's success we probably wouldn't have had many Bond films after it. 7.5/10

Not been a very good day today, had to ring an ambulance for my mum. She's been getting wobbly the last week and today she couldn't even stand up. She's got some sort of infection (as well as cancer, of course) so they're keeping her in for a few days. It's all fun round here.
