Goodness the Jodie Doctor sounds so warped, and I thought McCoy could be a bit dark. True, but there's a difference. The moral ambiguity of the Seventh Doctor is a conscious choice on behalf of the writers, and is frequently questioned and scrutinised whilst being utilised as a narrative catalyst for many of the events which occur, especially in Fenric. Conversely, the absolute lack of moral coherence on the part of the Thirteenth Doctor seems entirely unintentional on Chibnall's part, because it's never addressed or questioned at any stage.

All true, but we must remember that self reflection is clearly not Chibnell’s strong point and self dought is a sign of weakness to the agenda behind the show these days.

For those on the fence, I recommend watching the pre credits scene only. It ends with everyone getting exterminated. Then stop, don't watch. It's the perfect end to this shitfest.

I want to see a lot of tribbing in the next few specials. Don't hold back, Chibnall. Give us all what we want.

That could be appealing, if only I found either actress remotely appealing or interesting.

You're clearly afraid of strong, charismatic women, Ian. What i'd like to know is why Chris, who really does like them, refuses to cast any in his show. Maybe he just came so hard that he's forgotten where he is...?

It's disappointing to see NuWho falling back on the same old villains yet again. Why doesn't Chinballs use one of the iconic villains from his own era for Jodie's sendoff? There are so many to choose from, after all. The single father. Not Trump™. 1940s Hindus. CGI spiders that dance to Stormzy. The not-quite-suable Lilo & Stitch knockoff. The menopausal tooth fairy. The flying pieces of cloth. I was about to suggest Space Amazon, but then I remembered that she sided with them and murdered the only worker who dared to stand up for himself. Still, a rouges' gallery any sci-fi writer would be proud of. Ah, yes. An incarnation who sides with hegemonic corporations whilst demonising rebellious young workers who've been exploited and abused. Maybe they could bring him back for her final outing? If she gets a Tennant-style farewell, she could always head back through time after suffering a dose of radiation, confront his past self and say "Make sure you don't resist or rebel anytime soon!". Seems apropos and apposite for the ethos of the current series, I suppose... I've not seen this episode yet- unsure if I ever will. I guess the mantra of "It's not quite as side-splittingly bad as his usual efforts" is enough to get certain audiences optimistic, but I've pretty much lost any interest in it whatsoever. I think I've firmly hit the apathetic stage when it comes to New Who now, I guess. Yep, The Doctor. The character who doesn't champion the underdog, the character who sides with the establishment, the character who offers apologia for tax-dodging, workforce-exploiting large corporations, the character who espouses herd mentality, the character with no will of her own, the character who doesn't represent the triumph of the individual over totalitarianism. The character we all know and love....
"IT'S ALL ONE SHOW...!!!"
"It's not some strange quasi-remake. It's the proper new series of Doctor Who." Mark Gatiss, 2005.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much...

You shut your goddamn mouth! Chris Chibnall's feminist credentials are in no doubt. After all he is the man who 1/ Wrote a female villain that kills guys by wanking them to death and eats their spunk. 2/ Gave a Cyberman big metal tits, and had the Cyberwoman's motivation be to convert her boyfriend so they could be together forever. 3/ Had what was supposed to be the jack the lad character use a sex spray on a woman in the first episode to basically rape her, and then in a later episode had the same character stick his tongue down the main woman's throat and have her go on about how hard his dick was, and then later had him shove her up against a tree and ask her if she wanks hard enough that she's loses her memory (which turned her on. We all know women love wank themed chat up lines.) 4/ Queer baited his audience with a laughably kid on romance with Yaz and Jodie for 4 years. 5/ Had a guy who is meant to be a lovable, sweet, shy guy, collect trophies from the women he shags and stalks a woman for three years to the point where he lives in her plae of work. 6/ Thought that toupee was a good idea. ( I know that isn't connected to his awful female characters, but I still felt a need to bring it up.)

Really, it's absolutely astonishing that he's still writing this kind of shit in the current climate, especially considering what his writing continually preaches. Bet he'd love it if it was connected to one of his female characters. Obviously, she would too, so it's not sexist...

They would've had to contrive a severe blow to the head before that could come even remotely close to working...

This would be the same Mark Gatiss who has said many, many, many, many times that the show should do away with all continuity? His exact words "TO HELL WITH CONTINUITY." Okay Mark if that's the case why bother insisting that it is not some quasi remake? That's why I can't help but feeling that the Fitzroy Crowd are full of shit and just wanting to cash in on the name. Here's the thing boys, the only reason you return to an old character is if you want to do something with that old character. If you change it completely beyond all recognition, you might as well be doing a new character.

I still haven't seen a single episode of the Whittaker era.
I will one day. I'll actually watch the whole era. But, i just don't care.
