Looks okay to me, though I notice they're not showing the humans! I am rather excited at the prospect of full colour widescreen Hartnell. Sudden? You heard it here last week, folks! Season 17 for December then.

Sadly I have to agree with Cryptic Fox and Kaijuko that the animation looks a bit sub par. I'll reserve judgement for the full story. Ironically Galaxy 4 actually had really good visuals. The sets were good and the Rill's design and costumes were fantastic.

Season 17 for December then. Yeah, I don't actually think it looks that bad, although I noticed that they've held back on revealing any footage of the character models. Maybe I'm just optimistic after the appalling Web of Fear episode 3 animation, but I've definitely seen worse. It does look a little like a pre-rendered video game cutscene during the early shots, however. I'll opt for the surviving episode 3 when it comes out though, as I did with the surviving Faceless Ones episodes, and even if this is sub-par, the Evil animation looks very promising nevertheless.

Yep, can't go wrong with Les Structures Sonores. Even in lesser stories, there's something uniquely enchanting about the stock music that 60s Who often utilised.

If the animation is as bad as that all way through, I think I'll stick with the CGI recons.

I’m about 50/50 look ok but some stuff looks a bit wonky like Some of it may look better in black and white. I don’t recall a spaceship battle in the original and, let’s be fair, that kind of dynamic action is hard to pull off with their budget. The closest they got were the seaweed tendrils in Fury and they were more slow moving.
Again though I appreciate the attempt to try and make use of the fact the story is animated and do stuff like a space battle. I’m a purest at heart but what’s the point in animating anything if your not going to advantage of it. Galaxy 4 is hardly the best of the Hartnell era and a little embellishment really won’t hurt.
Did they change the animation studio or did they just rush this one through?
Galaxy 4 is not what I’d call a classic, it’s ok, though I feel it’s reputation has been badly over hyped by some these days. The fact it has women caste what we’re meant to be male roles is interesting, but while gives the story a little extra depth it’s not the grandiose thing some parts of the fandom make it out to be. In fact I remember it being one of my lower rated Hartnell stories for me.
With that in mind I don’t mind to much is this one was a little rushed provided they use the time they have now to work on Snowmen, a story worthy of a bit of extra effort.

If the animation is as bad as that all way through, I think I'll stick with the CGI reckons. The only problem with things like that is that the BBC eventually try to take them down. When I was making my own dvds of the recons I found that many of the older ones had been copy right struck and almost impossible to find.

It's Big Finish Creative, who did Fury.

I really hope The Evil Of The Daleks animation is better than this.

It's Big Finish Creative, who did Fury. Well in theory it should be fine then. Fury turned out pretty ok in my book. Well we have some still from that one and they look about on par with what had been done befor. Well have to see how they move. The Daleks seemed good though.
