It's Big Finish Creative, who did Fury. Well in theory it should be fine then. Fury turned out pretty ok in my book. Well we have some still from that one and they look about on par with what had been done befor. Well have to see how they move. The Daleks seemed good though. I know this is all a matter of personal taste, but I really didn't like the Fury animation - it looked scrappy and cheap and unconvincing with poor likenesses, characters with ridiculously long, floppy arms, things changed or added to (for instance, the helicopter flight through monstrous tendrils of sea weed) and unwanted Easter Eggs. I adore animation and cartoons ( I'm an amateur cartoonist myself) and think the animated missing episodes for 'The Invasion' are absolutely smashing. Similarly, while not as good, I have no problem with the style used for Power, Macra, Shada, or The Faceless Ones. Fury (and in particular), the animated missing Web episode look awful and I'd much rather watch a good quality recon. However, I'm still pleased and grateful that the BBC are putting considerable thought and effort into recreating missing TV episodes and dearly hope that Evil does not disappoint.

If your cartoon rex was anything to go by, you’ve got more talent then me for such things. If it helps ease your worries, it’s a Dalek story and even at their worst the BBC won’t mess up that one given how much money they can pull in. When it comes to Fury, all I can say is I was ok with it. I’m not going to proclaim it the best animation ever and it has its weaknesses but for me it was ok. But animation is art and art is subjective, even on a BBC budget, so I can’t fault you for picking out which studios work you prefer. I’m just hoping that Webs animation wasn’t an ill omen for the Abominable Snowmen’s animation. I’d be heartbroken if that how one of my favourite stories ended up.

Hmm.. very good point about the Evil animation ...something so obvious and yet I hadn't thought of it until you pointed it out. That's quite reassuring. Yes, I wouldn't want to see The Abominable Snowmen messed up either, yet can you imagine sitting through 12 episodes of The Daleks' Masterplan ( 13, if they include Mission To The Unknown) that were shoddily animated? What a misery that would be...

What a misery that would be... Yeah, I'm hoping that they invest as much money into the Masterplan animation as possible and make it an extensive project, perhaps to round off the animated stories in a climactic fashion. If they somehow bollocks it up, that'd be massively disappointing, especially given that it's both a quintessentially brilliant story as well as easily the biggest in scope. I'd say that it ought to rival the Moonbase and Invasion animations, although the style used for Macra Terror would probably suit it very well too. Or even Power, theoretically, though the claustrophobic, atmospheric and grounded nature of that story entails a slower and more methodical pace for the animation anyway, whereas Masterplan is a faster and more varied story in location so it'd probably benefit from something more suited to that style. Just as long as it isn't akin to the Web of Fear one, for f.u.c.k's sake...

I really like this story. It has that magnificent Sixties atmosphere. The music is my favourite thing about it.

I enjoyed it, mind you anything looks good compared to the new Noo Poo episodes. A couple of reviews are in the "stories watched recently" thread already.

Ah, cheers Bill, that clearly escaped my notice. I'll check out your review (based on Web of Fear, i refuse to touch the animations until i know they're not shit!)
