Whittaker is leaving, and the BBC are about to release their most ambitious DW video game yet (Which isn't saying much). No wonder they stuffed Tennant in it. I bet the studio behind it are miffed.
Not only will they have lost returns due to last season, but now the main reason to buy the game has f*cked off.

I wouldn't much care if they got a woman, trans actor or POC in to do the role - as long as it was clear they were suited to it, unlike 'Wokey Whittaker', as the Telegraph would call her! Perhaps she should have spent less time plotting Trumps downfall and more of it playing the character as being brighter than an amoeba. Unfortunately the BBC has been swallowed up by its need to promote its 'progressive' qualities in its hiring and self-promotion. And it is for that reason that even if they hired an actor of the calibre of Patrick Stewart the writer would soon have him talking in teen text-speak and have everyone he meets bemoan how undiverse he is. Sorry but I still don't get this I don't mind a woman if she was right for it. A woman is never right for the role because he's a man. She will always look out of place. Even if you didn't know how shit Pisstakers performance is, seeing her lined up in front of 13 men looks stupid. You think "why is that woman just standing there in front of those guys?" I'm sorry I'm not saying this is necessarily here, but I do think a lot of people are still saying "a woman might work" just out of fear of looking sexist, which is stupid. Not everyone can play every character. I don't expect to see a Scottish nerdy guy play Ripley any time soon, and anyone who is being honest won't want to see a woman play the Doctor for similar reasons. We need to watch that this era isn't put entirely on Jodie's head. No more female Doctor Who's please! It's a male role, I can't believe I have to argue this after the continued failure of Pisstaker, Pissy Missy and Jo Martin's abomination. Personally though I don't want anyone to play the role now. I'm actually scared that they'll cast an actress I like, like Susan Wokoma and she'll get the blame for when the show inevitably crashes and burns. Not fokking Moffhack, not Chinballs, not even Pisstaker! Hell even Olly Alexander, who I'm not that big a fan of (Don't dislike him, I'm just not that familiar with him.) He won't deserve to be made the fall guy. Please BBC JUST LET IT fokkING DIE! Nobody cares at this point. The arseholes you wanted as your audience have all jumped ship, and the actual fans casual and hardcore alike want it to finish. Just fokking end it.

Doctor Who is a man.
End of story.
They did have the opportunity to explain Time Lord gender swap as a side-effect risk resulting from the DNA manipulation we saw in Night Of The Doctor, but it never went there.
There was no plot, no story or in-universe reason for the change. If the BBC didn't see that as significant, then I fail to see how I am supposed to recognise a female in the role as The Doctor.
That's not sexism, it's attention to detail.

I was so happy when I saw the first part of the post about it finishing only for my heart to sink reading Sally Wainright. It sounds far more difficult to make now anyway. Just f*cking end it!

Hmm... I used to rate Sally Wainwright tho I'm not such a fan of her more recent stuff, but she's hardly a natural fit for old Who-style sci-fi, to put it mildly.
Having said that, after seeing stuff like Braithwaites, Sparkhouse, Happy Valley and even Jane Hall, she's hardly a fit for the infantile excesses of Nu Who either.

I don't know anything about her, it's more just annoys me that this show is getting another era. FFS any other show after the failure of the Capaldi era would have been axed, yet this show gets 2 further chances. Meanwhile think of all the great series that were taken before their time. UGH it's so annoying.

The only thing I know Wainwright from is Braithwaites, which was fun but didn't scream Doctor Who. I'm not holding my breath anyway. I'm happy with my DVDs and Blu rays of classic and Smithy, frankly.
Surprising how unpopular Pisstaker and Chinballs are on GB. I thought they all loved them there, or is it just like Twatter now, where all the normals daren't open their mouths for fear of being gangbanged by the loudmouthed woke nutters?

I thought they all loved them there Yeah, it looks as though plenty of people on GB feel the same way that many here do in avidly disliking the current era, but just aren't vocal about it on there (I've not got an account on there though- might be too much to bare). Isn't Henshin/BowieDoctor an ex-GB user? I suppose it's a shame that more members from GB haven't moved over here if they feel similarly.

I'm happy with my DVDs and Blu rays of classic and Smithy, frankly. Wainwright wouldn't be my first choice either. You need an upcoming talent with a penchant for cerebral science-fiction as opposed to somebody who's primary experience consists of crime dramas and comedy series'. That said, she's clearly more talented than many of the writers Chibnall employed, who typically only had experience on the likes of Emmerdale and Eastenders (often with a single writing credit). Experience isn't integral to success either though. It's just best to find somebody a little less established within the BBC status quo. The problem with NuWho in large part is that it's so mundane and rarely takes creative risks. It needs to completely change and find a means of subverting typical and tired BBC drama conventions, otherwise it'll continue to haemorrhage enthusiasm and support. Times are very different to the mid-late 2000s where one could simply adhere to the RTD formula and achieve considerable success- it's been done to death since then. I'm not holding out hope for a contemporary equivalent of season 7, put it that way. Which is really what the programme needs in order to survive.

And according to a different rumour it's not her but Simon Allen, and a co-showrunner called Emerald Fennett.
Never heard of any of them.

And according to a different rumour it's not her but Simon Allen, and a co-showrunner called Emerald Fennett. Never heard of any of them. Emerald Fennell produced the second season of Killing Eve. Again, not remotely in line with my preferred vision of Who in any way. This is what frustrates me about the BBC. Plenty of their documentaries (today included) are first class, but their dramas are usually (with some impressive exceptions) insipid, uncreative and identitarian shite now, and almost always produced by the same groups of people. Doctor Who needs someone new, and someone genuinely surprising, as opposed to somebody already distinguished within the BBC.
