So, in a way, this ends up possibly being the shortest tenure for both a showrunner and Doctor. It's certainly less than RTD and Moffat as they each had around 5 years and 2 Doctors. I'm fairly certain JNT had more Doctors and years to his name. No, the gap years for Whittaker/Chibbs don't add to the time. Love the new profile pic. Now THAT is a good female lead. JNT had the longest time as producer. 3 Doctors over a 9 year span. It's also fewer episodes than any other producer, except possibly when the show was going through almost a different producer every year in the 60s for a time. (Though even then given the length of 60s seasons like 40 episodes a year, Chibbers might still be the shortest. No way did he only intend to do that little amount by the way. He has been pushed.)

I recently rewatched the Doctor Falls, and God it is sooooooooooooo much better than the Jodie era. I've only seen the Dalek episodes and Timeless Children, as I couldn't stand Jodie or the companions. I hated the writing in Capeldi era, but he carried the show and made it watchable. Jodie had all the charm of a used condom filled with rancid spunk. It's just a turn off. See my I Claudius comparison LOL. I guess if we follow the comparison, then the next one could be a Claudius, IE do a good job, but in a bad system Emperor/Showrunner etc. Having said that though, Moff did least have Ingrid Oliver LOL. Oh on an unrelated note that Terry Pratchett series she has been in is a huge success. I'm only bringing this up because Neil Gaiman tried to sabotage it for not being faithful to the source material. I could understand being angry at its lack of faithfulness normally, but when you think how little respect he showed Classic Who when he wrote it. (Like starting this stupid gender bending crap, having the Doctor and the TARDIS kiss, having turbo charged Cybermen etc.) I'm glad he's now getting a taste of his own medicine LOL.

BWAAHAHHHHAH. So...Chibs was quietly knifed with a very generous cheque? It would seem. Serves him right though as by all accounts he seems to have given Capaldi a push to make way for Pisstaker. I honestly think no matter what happens taking DW is a career ending move for Chinballs and Jodie.

Now, the question is, IF it is true that the BBC very quietly chose to distance themselves from this whole era...what have they learned?
What have they learned when it comes to writing Doctor Who?
What have they learned when it comes to running Doctor Who?
What have they learned when it comes to casting Doctor Who?
Their next decision will reveal all the answers.

They're looking for an actor of colour now which they think will be a step forward for diversity. A black Doctor doesn't bother me personally, I just think the BBC have an agenda.

I think the only problem with a black actor in the role is that a certain section of fans will instantly label you a racist if you don't like the person in the role. It's all getting a bit tedious being labelled everything under the sun.

You'd think after the recent lynching of Kevin Smith, along with all of the numerous attempts at Woke Stunts in pop culture of the 2010s, that the BBC might take the hint that their ratings and merchandise sales will only suffer worse than ever.
Seriously, was merchandise selling more units during the Baker and McCoy era?

I wouldn't much care if they got a woman, trans actor or POC in to do the role - as long as it was clear they were suited to it, unlike 'Wokey Whittaker', as the Telegraph would call her! Perhaps she should have spent less time plotting Trumps downfall and more of it playing the character as being brighter than an amoeba.
Unfortunately the BBC has been swallowed up by its need to promote its 'progressive' qualities in its hiring and self-promotion. And it is for that reason that even if they hired an actor of the calibre of Patrick Stewart the writer would soon have him talking in teen text-speak and have everyone he meets bemoan how undiverse he is.

Agreed.
I still don't know if i'll come back to the show.
To date, I haven't watched an episode of the Whittaker era and, as i've said before, i'm unsure if even casting Hugh Laurie or Pierce Brosnan in the role would provide any incentive for me to return.
It will really come down to the showrunner; that's who will make or break the show.

I'd love to see Jessica Raine in the role. In fact, she should have been the 13th Doctor. She wouldn't have been out of her depth unlike Jodie.
