Never seen the sequels. Yeah, I had to get the FNII Blu from Spain too.

Fright Night 2, the original. Going to have a vampire fest soon. I plan to watch both FN's and all the Lost Boys and Near Dark, and John Carpenters vampires soon. I always loved Fright Night 2, but I haven't been able to see it for like 20 years. For some reason it's been damn near impossible to get. My copy is coming from Spain ffs. The main female vampire Regine is one of the sexiest villains in anything. We're supposed to feel scared for Charlie when she captures him, strips him and promises to hurt him for all eternity. I was jealous of him! I'd have never forgiven Peter Vincent for rescuing me LOL. I wouldn't watch all The Lost Boys if I was you. The first is a classic, but the sequels are some of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. Proper shit shows. Thanks for the heads up. I'm still curious to see what they're like. Have you ever seen the Fright Night movies? I reckon you'd like them. They are sooooo 80s LOL. The first movie's soundtrack is one of the most 80s bits of music I have ever heard.

Never seen the sequels. Yeah, I had to get the FNII Blu from Spain too. I just don't get why it's so rare? It was a popular sequel to a popular film? There was even a remake of Fright Night 2, yet the original will forever remain out of print? Well at least I'll be seeing it soon. I'll need to remember to hold onto it though. PS I saw they were planning on doing another sequel to Fright Night that would ignore the second one. I really hope they don't as ffs it's been 40 years now. The cast are all far too old, Roddy McDowell is no longer with us. Let it be. The awful Ghostbusters Afterlife should show people why nostalgia movies are never a good idea. (PS looks like the Chibnall finale will be GB Afterlife.)

There's some sort of copyright tangle. May even date back to the reasons the original release was not as widespread as it should have been. One of the financial backers was the guy who was murdered by his own sons in the infamous Menendez Brothers case. No one seems to know who owns the copyright to it. Spain, of course, doesn't give a f**k. Given I like II more than I, they can eff right off with that s**t. Nothing is worse than tired revivals of stuff that has had its day.

WOW I think that's the first person I've seen who prefers 2 to 1. You're even more of a maverick than Maxil LOL. I can't comment as I haven't seen 2 since I was a horny teen wishing Regine would torture me instead of Charley, but 1 is one of the greatest vampire films of all time and Chris Sarandon is one of the best on screen vampires of all time too. I'd say Chris is top 5 along with Angel, Spike, Lugosi and Christopher Lee (who would be number 1.) I'd much rather be bitten by Regine though, but we'll see if she is as good a villain as Jerry. I agree about too many tired revivals. I think that is just my generation, millenials wanting to escape to their childhood, but a better way of doing that is just to watch the original, than dragging an 80 year old Chris Sarandon back in to play an OAP Jerry.

I completely agree. I'm totally down to escaping back to my childhood but yeah, watch the originals. I'm done with revivals now - whenever I hear of any my heart just sinks, because you know they'll suck.

Fright Night 2 came today, surprisingly early. Overall I liked it. Some of the jokes felt a bit laboured like the shrink trying to get the stake out and the bowling gags. It definitely is not anywhere near as good as the first. Sorry Iank, but it really isn't. That said Regine is a brilliant vampire. One of the best onscreen vampires of them all, Peter Vincent also gets more to do this time round and it moved the story along brilliantly from the first. I think the girl was a bit overrated as a character. Everyone was saying Charley's girlfriend was a better character than Amy, the one in the first film, but to be honest I think Amy was more memorable as she was given more development. Her transformation from shy school girl to psycho vampire in the first film was really quite impressive. Even physically she looks like a totally different person and Amanda was brilliant at doing all three. The girl this time however though admittedly being slightly more proactive in trying to rescue Charley, is just.... there. I also didn't really buy into her and Charley as much. Regine was definitely the best thing about the movie overall. God damn was she even sexier than I remembered. Again if I'd been Charley I'd have hated Peter Vincent for rescuing me from her LOL. I'd gladly have been her plaything.

I bought copies of Paul Darrow's "Lucifer" and "Lucifer Revelation" (the final book in the trilogy, "Lucifer Genesis", is best left ignored unless you want to go redfaced with rage).
I also received the Blake's 7 40th anniversary audio "The Way Ahead" for my birthday. It was quite fantastic, the highlight of my year so far.
EDIT: A few days ago, I also purchased "Fire & Blood" by George RR Martin, the ASOIAF prequel novel.

I'm put off by Spanish releases because the ones I'm after all are bootlegs. The Neverending Story III Blu ray I wanted is literally just an Amazon Prime Video rip. Sadly the official German Blu ray has been discontinued. If I wasn't OCD about everything I would just go ahead and buy the Spanish release as I'd love to own the film on Blu ray. It's not out on DVD in the UK (Regardless of the film's reputation, you'd think a fantasy sequel to an 1980s classic would get a release) so I only have the Italian import of the film as well as the Amazon digital copy.

My (framed) giant-sized Wicked Science poster is on the wall (next to Fletch) and it looks effing amazing. Also been doing some rearranging/sorting out of DVDs etc (to be fair, I just unpacked them fairly randomly just to get them out of the boxes). I now have an entire bookshelf filled with Who stuff (Blus, DVDs and even a few old VHSes I kept for the sake of childhood nostalgia), and one totally for horror movies. Love it.

I might start buying some NA novels. I have three so far (Head Games, Human Nature and Shakedown) and I don't really mind the range so much (I prefer the BBC 7th Doctor novels). Some are quite expensive but I wouldn't mind owning a few more just out of curiosity.

The complete Miami Vice blu ray. I never watched this in the 80s, so this is all Maxil's fault.
