Would I lose the respect of everyone here if I bought this? There's something very appealing about this...

The Living Daylights on Blu ray. Another 1987 film to add to my HD collection! Might get The Lost Boys next as I've never seen that in high definition before.

Sons and Daughters season 2. These buggers are expensive, and I haven't even finished 1 yet, but given they have carried on and gotten to season 4 now (my fave) I figured I should keep supporting them.

The first six books of the Tarzan novel series on Audible. Pretty solid pulp fun all round.

Strontium Dogs Volume Two: I'd never read this before, but it pretty much follows on continuity from after Johnny Alpha died in "The Final Solution" which I absolutely hated (mainly because of the artwork). It continues with Feral Jackson (who I also hated) as the lead character and a radically revised implausible character for the Gronk. However, despite it's limitations I thought the writer Garth Ennis does a dot-joining perfunctory job with what was a completely shit legacy to work with and the quite good art from Steve Pugh and Nigel Dobbyn aid this enormously. What I hated about "The Final Solution" was not so much the pointless death of Johnny Alpha but the largely incoherent artwork of Simon Harrison. I also hated how Feral was hyped as the main character within this story too which probably explains why I hadn't read this later material before. The thing I enjoyed the most was probably Nigel Dobbyns artwork, he really feels like a classic Doctor Who comic artist for some reason, a sort of cross between Steve Dillion, David Lloyd and Dave Gibbons. Maybe he has been and I haven't been paying attention? Probably the most flawed book in the Ultimate Collection for a while, not essential stuff but quite interesting nevertheless. The next one in the series is the Rogue Trooper reboot which I remember I absolutely hated at the time, with its pointless reimagining with muddy artwork, but I'm curious to see how it fares upon an excavation now.

Thinking of buying these two books. 80s Knitwear and Lalla Ward... what a combination . She's so gorgeous.

The Earth Story boxset: The Gunfighters/The Awakening
Wanted this one mainly for The Awakening which I haven't seen properly all the way through undistracted. A lot of members around here seem to like it a lot. I also enjoy The Gunfighters so I have no problem adding that to my collection. I was thinking about buying the Kamelion tales if only to complete my Season 21 set, but I'm not sure I can be bothered because I really can't stand Planet of Fire. The King's Demons isn't too bad, but spending £12.99 for fifty minutes worth of mild entertainment doesn't sound sensible to me. I suppose I'll get both when the Blu ray sets for Season 20 and 21 come out.

I'm framing posters in my new house. Have some lovely A4 prints up and framed. Some "proper" ones (gorgeous Three Doctors one) and some I've done myself (some Who, a couple with certain actresses - - and a couple of collages. Have also started framing giant sized posters. There's a bunch I ordered before the move I haven't even unwrapped yet. The first one I've managed to frame and put on the wall is a giant-sized Fletch (y'know, with Chevy Chase). Looks beautiful and I can't wait to do more, though I've got to wait for the frames to get here! Have ordered a 12x16 frame for a laminated Five Doctors poster I have too. There's also a poster seller on eBay (actually bought the Fletch one and others from them) that are offering to print posters of any design providing you have a good enough resolution image. I've taken them up on it, and ordered a giant sized Wicked Science poster! Oh I hope that works. Would be lovely to have a giant-sized Brigdet poster on the wall lol!

Rogue Trooper - The War Machine: I hadn't read this since the early 90's, I remember I didn't like it too much, but was curious to see how well this reboot fared on retrospective reading particularly after seeing it garnering a certain acclaim amongst some 2000AD readership and nope, I'm afraid I still didn't like it. I love Dave Gibbons art completely(his Doctor Who stuff is terrific!), but his script in this volume is threadbare and lacking character. I get what he was trying to achieve with his almost prose like narrative in capturing the clinical nature of war, but it also comes across self-indulgent, pretentious and lazy. Will Simpsons painted art doesn't help either, it's muddy and undefined. I was left with the overall feeling of "what was the point?" at the end of it. Yuck. The back up story Glimmer Rats was slightly better, but hardly engrossing either. I'm not a huge fan of Mark Harrisons art either because it also suffers from lack of definition in places, particularly during character action sequences, but at least it has some points of interest in some of the detail. All in all, this was probably the first entry in the Ultimate Collection since The Ten-Seconders released 16 months ago which I didn't really enjoy much. There was a brief spattering of some nice Chris Western artwork, and a short semi average Dredd/Rogue crossover story in the middle, but other than those I found this volume a chore.

Finn Volume One: Another one I haven't read before and perhaps I should have read Third World War first where this character apparently originates from because this is undoubtedly some of the laziest Pat Mills I've read. Now, don't get me wrong, Pat Mills is by far one of my favourite authors, but what this strip came across to me as is a contemporary version of Slaine with a Torquemada Terminator helmet slapped upon his head, and that was literally it! Even the dark humour was quite lacking in this for Pat Mills, one gag about masonic rituals doesn't really hold up throughout a whole volume. The artwork however really is quite nice, even if it does seem somewhat wasted upon what seems quite pedestrian fare from Mills. The quality in the Ultimate Collection has noticably dropped in the most recent editions which is mostly due to material from the low point during the 90's being reproduced, I do question why this material took priority over more recent and much better material deserving of release. Perhaps Hachette are just testing the waters with lesser material to see whether a third extention to the series is viable? I hope so because there is a lot of far better and more deserving material I would like to see get the hardback treatment. More recent books of Flesh and Savage for a start!

Fright Night 2, the original.
Going to have a vampire fest soon. I plan to watch both FN's and all the Lost Boys and Near Dark, and John Carpenters vampires soon.
I always loved Fright Night 2, but I haven't been able to see it for like 20 years. For some reason it's been damn near impossible to get. My copy is coming from Spain ffs. The main female vampire Regine is one of the sexiest villains in anything. We're supposed to feel scared for Charlie when she captures him, strips him and promises to hurt him for all eternity. I was jealous of him! I'd have never forgiven Peter Vincent for rescuing me LOL.

She's hot, but his girlfriend's hotter (def a step up from his first one lol). Love FNII though. That custom-made Wicked Science poster came yesterday. Looks absolutely fantastic. Ian is positively giddy with glee!

The first is a classic, but the sequels are some of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. Proper shit shows.
