He's so close to admitting it LMAO Oh absolutely 100 percent. I always loved that bit for that reason. Lister was stupid not to pick up on it. The Boys from the Dwarf all like each other underneath IMO, though they probably do have periods where they are pissed off with each other. For instance I can't imagine Lister liking Rimmer very much after Bodyswap for a while, or Rimmer liking Lister for a while after Meltdown LOL. (I can only assume that Rimmer's lightbee was turned off and he went back to being programmed on the ship after Lister swallowed him in Meltdown.) Still underneath they all clearly do like each other and there are odd moments where we see it, like them rescuing Rimmer in Terrorform, or going along with his charade in s10 etc.

They seem particularly comfortable with each other in series 2, which is part of why the series 3 reboot bothered me (although I will go into it with an open mind of course)

I've got a big theory that the Stasis Leak timeline (where Lister travels back in time and marries Kochanski) is the same one where the crew end up living off of the time drive. At some point, Lister and Kochanski get divorced - possibly due to the crew's morality slipping - and Lister ends up as a jar. The time drive being destroyed explains why this storyline never has a resolution. Because Lister and Kochanski never married.
My proof for all this?
Both future versions of Rimmer have a moustache.

The time drive being destroyed explains why this storyline never has a resolution. Because Lister and Kochanski never married. My proof for all this? Both future versions of Rimmer have a moustache. I completely agree that the ending of Stasis Leak represents the future selves from series 6 timeline before that Lister became a brain in a jar. Further proof is the Stasis Leak Lister is an obnoxious wanker. I had a darker interpretation than yours though. I saw it that Kochanski became corrupted too and stayed with them, but that what happened was the Epideme virus infected her in this reality. I think the time drive accidentally took them to the Epideme ship or maybe an earlier point in the virus history. (Maybe they wanted to visit the future and see the golden age of space exploration and the virus attacked them.) Sadly Kochanski was too ill to formulate a plan (and perhaps too stupid after years of decadent living) and died from the virus and her reanimated corpse then infected Lister. The other Dwarfers were able to remove Listers brain from his body to get him away from the Epideme virus. Rimmer destroys the time drive erasing this version of the future, but I see it as perhaps being like Terminator 3, or Days of Future Past and Logan. Basically if you haven't seen them, in T2 they stop judgement day, but it happens at a later date anyway and in Days of Future Past they stop the bad future where there is a war between humans and mutants, but humans still almost wipe out mutants anyway. The idea is that time is like a river. You can throw a pebble in, but it always corrects itself in some way, even if the circumstances are different. With this in mind, even though Rimmer destroyed the time drive, then some events were destined to happen, like Lister and Kochanski meeting up, and Lister being infected by Epideme even if it was different circumstances.

Terminator 3 is what Terminator 2 should've been. That rubbish about stopping Judgment Day never made sense in Terminator 2. The whole reason Sarah's son existed was because of the time loop. She'd be erasing him. Not to mention that the whole reason Skynet was invented was because they got the arm from the future.
So time travel is the reason the world fell in the first place. It was always going to happen. And if time travel is part of the timeline, then time travel cannot change the timeline. If you catch my drift.
With Terminator 3, they went back to how it should've been. Actually showing Judgment Day. In an ideal world, we'd have a trilogy of T1, a James Cameron directed T3 and some sort of future film that isn't Salvation or Genisys.

T3 sucks.
On a more related note, I always thought Rimmer and Lister seemed friendlier and more comfortable with each other in 3 than 2 personally...

T3 sucks. On a more related note, I always thought Rimmer and Lister seemed friendlier and more comfortable with each other in 3 than 2 personally... T3 is a decent ending to the trilogy. I disagree with Rushy that it is better than 2, though I do think 2 is overrated. No f*cking way is it better than the first film. To me it goes first film is one of the best of all time, second is a great sequel and 3 is a nice epilogue. Rushy's right in that it does make more sense as an ending and fits in with the first movie's more grim tone, yet does still have an ounce of hope. Also I like the Arnie Terminator's arc ending where he gets to save the day, but also ends up killing John. Kind of brings him full circle with the first movie, whose goal was to kill John before he was born. There are also some absolutely classic moments, like Arnie telling John they'll meet again, the Terminator/TX fight scene, and the ending which is on a par I think with the first two. I still remember the cinema going completely silent. I also like the cast too, though apparently Claire Danes role was to originally have been played by Big Fam who turned it down because I think she was off torturing Owen Wilson in I Spy at that time (lucky bastard!) It's funny because I remember thinking as a teenager that she reminded me of Jean Grey from the X-Men in this. They seemed to insist Claire Danes dye her hair red, cut it in the style Big Fam was wearing at the time and dress like Big Fam as much as possible because they didn't get over losing her LOL. I have to say Claire Danes does rock that look admittedly. I also still can't believe they weren't going to cast Big Fam as the TX that tortures and kills guys? I suppose good for them for not giving into typecasting but still. The actress they got for the TX was great though and I've actually met her at a convention. She's a total ducky. Finally getting back on track LOL, I think Rimmer and Lister have more spectacular falling outs in S3 and 4 for that matter than they do in 2 from stealing Listers body, to Lister eating him! Lister did go out of his way to try and help Rimmer in Thanks for the Memory and seemed upset when Rimmer wasn't talking to him after the Lisa Yates bit, and as the scene above shows Rimmer would miss him if he's gone in s2.

I didn't mean to say that T3 is a better film. I just liked the story more. I liked that we got to see Judgment Day, and the sequence where Arnold struggles with his programming was awesome.
T2 is much better directed/produced/acted, but it's a turn-your-brain-off action flick. It's carried by Cameron's stellar work (save for the desert sequence) and the superb chemistry between the leads. You really grow to love them. I just wish the movie made a lick of sense.

God damn it the Claire Danes pic vanished? Well if you've seen the film you know how she's rocking the 2003/Jean Grey/torturing Owen Wilson Big Fam look.

On a more related note, I always thought Rimmer and Lister seemed friendlier and more comfortable with each other in 3 than 2 personally... Because Marooned aside, they barely have personal banter anymore so it looks as if they've calmed down. Rimmer's just one of the crew, rather than "Lister's one remaining tether back to his own time".

Now watching Parallel Universe. Female Rimmer is shamelessly flirting with male Lister ("my little cupcake"). The Rimmer/Lister ship sails proud!
