I didn't want him to have a thread at first, but I feel it is somewhat valid as he is now going after Sylvester McCoy and he also does represent a lot of what I feel is wrong in modern politics. Basically McCoy's twitter account, tweeted support for Tennant after his stupid remarks about that politician. As much as I like McCoy, in this case I don't think it was wrong to criticise him (assuming he even wrote that tweet and it wasn't just his PA. Shatner confirmed this to be true of his tweets.)
Still Glinners response was typically over the top.
He also posted pictures of children who had gone through this under. This isn't the first time he has lashed out at people in DW. He attacked Mark Gatiss for not doing enough to fix the DW fandom (as though Gatiss is our patron saint? He hasn't had anything to do with the franchise since 2017 LOL.) He also called RTD a sweaty groomer, which again even though I don't like RTD was absolutely disgusting. By the way it also shows what a lightweight Glinner is when it comes to debating. He can't even take down someone like RTD through proper arguments, so he resorts to vicious, disgusting, personal slander that ends up making RTD's critics have to defend him. He was lucky RTD didn't take him to the cleaners. He probably felt sorry for Glinner LOL.
For those of you who don't know Graham Linehan is, he was a comedy tv writer, who is best known for co-creating Father Ted, Black Books and IT Crowd. His career came to an end when he went on an anti trans crusade which seems to have taken over his whole life.
Now I am a fan of him as a comedy writer, but like I said I think he represents a lot of what is wrong with politics. He's basically a tribal git. Always has been, regardless of whether he is on the left or the right. He arrogantly dismisses people, uses dirty tactics and is a horrendous bully. I myself have dealt with him. Ironically it was before his trans crusade. He basically was arguing that Count Dankula be arrested for a joke he made. Dankula made his dog do a Nazi salute to wind up his girlfriend because she kept going on about how cute it is, and for that he was arrested and fined money. It was disgusting that a man's entire life was ruined that way. Glinner however not only supported it, he actually messaged the charity that was supporting Dankula's legal bills and told them to stop funding them. When I called him out for that, he called me a gammon and sicced his followers on me.
In a way it was poetic justice that he ended up being cancelled. Even then however, whilst I don't think he should have been cancelled and can still watch his work no problem. I don't even think he is a Gina Carano or Count Dankula who was unfairly trashed. Ginner as far as I'm concerned IS bigoted. He does raise a few valid points but so what? He does far more harm than good for his own causes, never mind to trans people.
For the record I am against children being allowed to transition. I think that IS obscene. I also am against biological women and trans women competing in sports, whilst things like prisons and toilets I think need more nuanced and practical discussions. I mean obviously yes we don't want big burly trans women being locked up with women, but at the same time would you really want someone like say Blaire White or this trans chick who won a beauty contest or hell even Rose 2 from DW to be locked up with men?
Again these women clearly would not do well in an all male prison, so there definitely needs to be like I said a practical, nuanced debate to be had here about the people who do blur the lines.
Now there are two sets of people stopping that from happening. The trans activist lunatics (many of whom aren't trans but poseurs like Kathleen Kennedy) who will insist ANY practical talk about the differences between trans and bio women is bigoted, but the other side is 100 percent the Glinners and Rowlings.
They use the fact that we have to sometimes talk about the differences between trans and bio women, to undermine trans people in general. They use it to smear trans women in general as perverted men with a kink, to go around calling trans women he and dead name them, and make out that they want to come for kids in general etc. In this respect they are to that debate what guys like Nick Griffin are to the immigration debate. Once again there are issues with widespread, unfiltered immigration, but guys like Nick Griffin use it to try and justify their obvious bigotry against non white people which ironically derails the discussion into being one about bigotry which it shouldn't be.
Not wanting trans women to compete in male sports for the practical reason doesn't mean you then have to go around calling trans women he. I mean hell not all bio women can compete with each other because of things like size, weight etc. Just view it that way and it's fine, the mad trans activists wouldn't have a leg to stand on, but ironically Glinner by coming in and using it as an excuse to call trans women he, and conmen etc, he jut gives the looney trans activists what they want and any reasonable voice gets drowned out as the two lunatic sides shout at each other and it goes nowhere.
Also finally Glinner is such a prick he has made out that he is a one issue voter as far as the trans thing is concerned. It's quite funny with this in mind that for all his why do men like you let it go on to McCoy, he evidently doesn't care that much about the hundreds of thousands of children in Palestine being slaughtered as he'll vote for a party that's up to its neck in that, as long as it has the right attitude about those pesky trans people.
Again I and other people don't have the luxury of worrying about first worldy shit like "the sanctity of womanhood". I have to worry about will the NHS still exist in 20 years time when I'll be in my 50s and could have health problems? Will I be forced to slave away in a Dickensian call centre for 9 hour shifts for minimum wage and barely be able to afford a house, and if I am ever out of work and have to go on benefits they could be cut by some concentration camp in another life jobsworth? Or suppose I have an accident and can't work and am left to fend for myself? These issues along with a little genocide should be top of your priorties Glinner over the confusing boner you got at that trans beauty queen.
So yeah as a person I despise Glinner quite frankly and view him as nothing but toxic. Like I said I don't want him cancelled, even from a practical point of view it makes him a martyr, but I don't have much sympathy with him beyond the nobody should be cancelled line. He is a piece of shit.
I might add even as a writer, you could make an argument that he is overrated. I certainly think what my dad says also true to an extent. My father never liked Glinner even before his fall from grace, as he felt that Glinner, Ben Elton and Armando Ianucci were parasites that leach off of their more talented collaborators like Dermot Morgan, Rik Mayall and Steve Coogan. He said they are basically middle of the road hacks, whose only real function is to come up with decent, but simple stories, that allow the comedy performers like Mayall and Coogan to come up with good jokes and improvise in certain scenes. Even then a lot of the stories they come up with are just fleshed out versions of the jokes these actors were doing on stage for years before hand anyway. Basically Glinner and Elton only occupy the technical side of it while guys like Mayall and Coogan are responsible for the jokes and characters.
You can tell this just by looking at their work. In The Young Ones, Rik and Ade were obviously recycling the act they'd done for years before hand, as was Nigel Planer, Alexie Sayle and the other comedy actors. Same with Blackadder. Look at the segment where Stephen Fry beats up Hugh Laurie in Blackadder 3. That was clearly written by them as it's what they always do. Elton and Curtis just came up with the scenario that would allow that to happen. I might add when Elton had greater control over their collaboration like Filthy Rich and Catflap which Mayall said was completely written by him, it suffered. That is the worst thing that Rik and Ade ever did IMO. Meanwhile at the same time when Rik and Ade became more comfortable and started writing their own stories, not just jokes, the quality didn't decline, with Bad News Tour and Bottom being as good as the Young Ones overall. (I do actually prefer the Young Ones it must be said, but objectively I don't think Bottom is any worse and has as big a following.)

Meanwhile Black Books was obviously Dylan Moran who is Bernard and Bill Bailey doing their act, and finally in The IT Crowd Noel Fielding was doing his act, of the insane Goth that he'd done for years, Chris Morris similarly thrives at that kind of anarchic crazy humour and finally Matt Berry plays the same woman obsessed, big voiced toff he always plays.
Similarly when Glinner was on his own without these people like that sitcom he did with his wife, it was absolute bollocks. I'm not saying he has no talent. (I also think my father was hard on Ben Elton who did steer Blackadder in the right direction after its first series.) Still I don't think Glinner is quite the genius people made him out to be, and I might add he always used to undermine Dermot Morgan saying that anyone could have played Ted and it wouldn't have made a difference.
