Dear god that was absolute f*cking bollocks. Above all else it was boring. Ncuti is an absolute f*cking joke for the part, and once again RTD has to f*ck up established lore. Now the Doctor doesn't have kids, but has grandkids? Also yes using Sutekh and having him meet the Toymaker and hilariously revealing that god exists is sub fanfic bullshit of the highest order.
RTD can f*ck off with this shit. If he thinks by defiling more icons of true who that I will like this shit, he thought wrong.
Also how f*cking bereft of ideas are they? Every single year apart from a few exceptions they bring back a classic villain. After dragging the arse out of the big three, and vandalizing them with Pissy Missy and able bodied Davros, they'd now rather use a one off villain from the 70s than think up their own?

Huge fan of Pyramid of Mars. The problem is, no one outside fandom knows who the hell Sutekh is. The reveal fell flat with a lot of reactors, the ones I've seen when we reach the reveal are either "the internet all figured that out weeks ago" or "I don't know who that is" Is it little wonder most nuwho fans have no idea who this character is? Most classic fans have been driven off and the original series is treated as inferior and outdated. Since connections to the original have been thoroughly degraded there is little to no osmosis by which current fans can learn about the shows history without directly looking it up on a wiki page. That means literally no hype from them and very little from classic fans as most tuned out ages ago. This is what happens when you break your fandom and it's proof of just how out of touch RTD and his ilk are.

The scene in the time window was genuinely brilliant

I think the devil dog is supposed to be a donkey which is faithful to depictions of "Set" throughout history. I think they even got Gabriel Woolf to do the voice. They actually don't know which animal Set is supposed to represent. Could be anything from a pig to a jackal to an aardvark. It's obvious which animal Nutekh is.

The scene in the time window was genuinely brilliant I love that "look what happens when you're around" glare Kate gives the Doctor after Winston is killed. I honestly think that Kate or even Mel might die next week.

I thought it was the Beast from Series 2 at one point which I would have found quite disappointing. I'm glad it was Sutekh. There's an effective sense of foreboding throughout the episode and the "you thought it was Susan, LOL" twist was well done. I really liked it to be honest. Imagine going from lazy slash fiction to some proper drama for a change.

It was nowhere near the best story of the last 20 years. No idea why Levine has been swayed by this

From a tension building perspective, it's flawless. I haven't been this excited for Who since Series 3. I agree that it's brilliant although I like some other episodes slightly more. If the second episode is as good then I'll consider it one of the (few) greats of NuWho.

If the figure lurching towards Ruby at the end removes its cowl to reveal the Trickster, maybe I'll do the same
