Just watching Pyramids of Mars now. I love how aloof Tom is in this. The dialogue is incredible the whole way through, the writers back then just had a way with words.

Still not sure if it is Sutekh. He's not an extradimensional God, just a very powerful alien. He exists in our universe concretely, it's not like he operates on the power of superstition like the Toymaker or the Trickster.

Best Who in ages. On the edge of my seat the whole time. Creepier than a lot of Nuwho, too.

The way everyone at UNIT was so...pleasant with each other was offputting ngl. The hug/compliment culture is just eye-rolling. I liked Kate taking authority though. Also they mentioned the Trickster which is good enough for me since I doubt he'll be appearing now, unless he is the cowled figure in the churchyard.

I read an annoying article which described him as an "obscure" villain despite the fact that he's in one of the most beloved serials of all time.

As a giant CGI devil dog. Not quite sure what to think of it.

As a giant CGI devil dog. Not quite sure what to think of it. I think the devil dog is supposed to be a donkey which is faithful to depictions of "Set" throughout history. I think they even got Gabriel Woolf to do the voice.

Huge fan of Pyramid of Mars. The problem is, no one outside fandom knows who the hell Sutekh is. Maybe some pensioners with an extremely long memory of 49 years ago. Building the entire episode to the fever of fever pitches only to reveal fanwank is not a wise idea when there's a guillotine above your shows head. Perfectly acceptable as a Big Finish cliffhanger, not a BBC1 cliffhanger though. A season finale, insane. It's like the big reveal being that Animal Kwackers or Pipkin or Michael Bentine's Potty Men are behind it all. Would have made as equal sense to your average Gen Zr.

Still parasiting off classic while refusing to be anything like it. What a hack.

Ok you got me. I could pass up pretty much everything since Jodie appeared but I couldn't no see Sutekh even if it's just this one off.
So I skipped everything in the episode just to get to that final bit when Sutekh appears. Honestly is looks good but then I realised it just doesn't feel right.
Sutekh is not big & bombastic like this in the original. What makes him scary is how quite things are around him, his soft voice that holds authority in every word. The fact that, with a thought, he can render the Doctor powerless and make him his slave.
Still it better then how the Toymaker played out, so far, anyway. This season had to, by law of averages, do one thing that was at least passible.

f*ck them. f*ck THEM! How dare they as Iank points out constantly leech off of the work of better writers and actors and use it to prop up their own shit. God damn it, Sutekh is my favourite one off villain. Whilst I would never have wanted to see him back anyway as he didn't need an encore, god damn it linking him in with RTD's shit and the number 1 Amy Winehouse hater and f*cking Disney the enemies of all creativity upsets me greatly.

Huge fan of Pyramid of Mars. The problem is, no one outside fandom knows who the hell Sutekh is. The reveal fell flat with a lot of reactors, the ones I've seen when we reach the reveal are either "the internet all figured that out weeks ago" or "I don't know who that is"
