Anything interesting happen? Haven't started it yet. I'm trying to find a hamburger worse than McDonald's to go with it.
But I've seen screenshots of the Doctor snogging, which is apparently the highlight of the episode.

Jeez, it's worse than I feared. The violins are going full Mantovani. Murray Gold is having a field day. Copying my post from Levine's group: It's not the fact that he's snogging a bloke that I disagree with, it's the fact that the Doctor is snogging anyone at all. Whether it be Rose, River Song, or whoever else. This is just romanticised soap opera bullshit IMO, and one of the reasons I've never liked NuWho from at least Series 2. Which prompted the following responses.

Review for the episode says it's a bit like a 2006 episode and wouldn't be out of place for Tennant and Piper. Also 'don't think too hard' about the ending. Also says there's a 'blink and miss revelation' that'll infuriate Gallifrey Base. www.vg247.com/doctor-who-rogue-reviewI reckon the time agent will be a future or pre Hartnell Doctor. The moment was Richard E Grant being counted as a Doctor

I read on Twitter someone saying, "Rogue is how Doctor Who SHOULD BE: super gay."
Someone else said this: "I love the fact that Rogue will be upsetting certain dark, insular corners of fandom"
It upset because it was shite.
Nobody seems to understand the show. I don't get this obsession with Bridgerton either. One reference is fine, but there's at least five of them. Ruby takes a back seat to the Doctor's romance with Rogue. They don't have any chemistry and Ncuti still can't act convincingly. The creatures are absolutely pathetic, too. This show is just leaving me cold again after briefly entertaining me with The Devil's Chord and 73 Yards.
2/10

I dunno what Bridgerton is. That might be the worst piece of television I've ever seen. Just watched it. Absolute f*cking shit. In the words of our moderator, I don't know where to begin slagging that off it was so f*cking piss poor. To start with the woke shit was exactly what I've said in other threads so I won't spend too much time here. RTD and the lesbian couple who wrote this are narcissists and cliquey minded individuals. Everything has to revolve around them. If they were not gay it would be something else. RTD is the type of tedious f*cker you know at work who would let his support for a football team dominate every single aspect of his life to the point where he wouldn't speak to you if you supported his rival team. The football team for him just happens to be gay. Also I will say this is that Ncuti is the WORST representation for gay men I've ever seen. Much like with what Missy did for women, a satirist taking the piss couldn't have done a more offensive cliche of the first gay Doctor. Imagine if Geoffrey Balydon had played it in the 70s as a dignified professor and had fitted in with the others no problem. Instead the first gay actor to play the Doctor has to be gay, has to be flaming, dance to 00s pop music and has to blub like a big sissy anytime something bad happens, Again it reminds me of Dylan Moran describing the most offensive stereotype of gay men imaginable. Beyond that however, oh dear god. Those aliens are the most bland, boring and terrible creatures I've seen yet. Nothing even remotely original about them. More lame animal people, no backstory, no motive, no powers, no world building etc. The acting performances were campy, dreadful and bland. The designs oh dear god! I thought that this season was supposed to have money put into it. Those looked like Halloween masks. I mean literal masks. The area around the lady birds eyes weren't even covered. Compare her to Linx. How, how is something made in 1974 with a shoestring budget better realised than something in 2024 with Disney money? Believe it or not she wasn't even the worst one. The blue guy just made me laugh. That's what actually makes me bitter about this as an aspiring genre writer myself. Whilst my stories are not great, I do at least try. I spend so much time putting effort into making my aliens and monsters different and I put my own meagre money into them. RTD literally just thinks "Let's get a mask from the local shop. Oh what if this lady was a bird!" Also again when I think of other sci fi actors, writers, directors who are extremely talented but get overlooked and this f*cker is praised as genius. I'm not as angry as I was after the first two episodes though because this series has bombed badly so at least he is being rewarded as his work should be. Meanwhile the attempts to make it up to date were even more cringey. They must have compared themselves to Bridgeton or whatever about 6 times, and the aliens went on about how they will cosplay the world to death. Also the pop music, which somehow people in the regency period have heard of? UGH remember I'm the one who never shuts up about Lady Gaga, calling her a big nosed goddess, but having her music in the 17th century was so out of place and a pathetic attempt to cash in on the zeitgeist (which was again hilarious as Gaga isn't exactly the hot new thing. I mean she IS hot LOL, but you know what I mean. She first became popular in 2009! Back when RTD was last desicrating the franchise.) Honestly I refuse to believe anyone who is a fan of DW could have anything nice to say about that. I mean f*ck off quite frankly. Three narcissists sexual fantasies, mixed in with out of date attempts to chase the Zeitgeist, and aliens that have so little thought put into them they might as well be used in a Dead Ringers spoof of DW.

Yep.
It was shit.
So that's three episodes in this entire era I've enjoyed. Now I know how people must have felt back in 1986.

This one was probably the most shoddily written on the word level. The Doctor asks "How long is a Chuldur's lifespan?" From his facial expressions we know exactly what he's thinking, we didn't need the "Good, long time to suffer" addendum. Compare this to Girl in the Fireplace, which is so tightly plotted and well characterised. This just doesn't hold up at all.

Yes, aspects of the production feel very cheap. God knows what they're spending the money on. The masks look absolutely terrible. It's as if someone drew a quick draft design and RTD said, "Perfect! We'll go with that."

I originally planned on sitting out on this one. Should I pirate it to laugh at it, or will it just fill me with rage instead?

Honestly I think RTD is using the gay stuff as a shield. He knows he can divert all criticism onto "you're a homophobe." That was the most lazy, amateurish thing I've ever seen. It basically didn't have a plot. Just bad guys show up and want to kill people. RTD and his writers are so f*cking bereft of ideas it is painful, so yeah sticking in a gay thing can allow them to deflect the issue at hand.
Honestly it makes me bitter and depressed.

One of the worst things I've ever seen in my entire life. Three narcissists sexual fantasies crowbarred into a shallow version of Bridgerton.

Now I know how people must have felt back in 1986. Having not sat through this, I reckon with the utmost certainty that Trial of a Time Lord pisses all over this from a towering height, and then some.

I will say it is hilarious how JNT was openly gay and yet never once thought to completely rewrite the character to be that? It just goes to show you how some people actually have personalities beyond their sexualities.
