Even if you don't believe in God, it's inane to despise religion as a concept. The benefits it's brought to humanity greatly outweight the negatives.

I can see where your coming from and I'm undecided about religion myself, however I do think that a lot of the problems it has been blame for are more due to human tribalism. Again I know this is my axe to grind, but tribalism, greed and guilt free bullying are the three reasons for all evil in the world. Racism, religious bigotry, misogyny, culture wars bullshit. All caused by the same tribal mentality, and therefore if it wasn't religion it would have been something else we would have fought and killed each other over.

Crap, I gave in. I always do. While Space Babies was shit, this episode is downright frothing at the mouth about faith and religion. The Doctor apparently doesn't like faith despite clearly having faith in his old companions in The Curse of Fenric which allowed him to escape. The acting is abysmal across the board with Ncuti crying for what feels like the entire episode. There's something inherently bitter about this. There's no life to any of the performances and the dialogue is trite and preachy. Critics have been raving about this over the last week and I'm sure some fans will give it the free pass because it has Steven Moffat's name on it, but I'm just sick to death of Moffatisms. 2/10 I think Moffat is just confused about what he's trying to say. He's conflating 'faith' with organised religion. Attacking or at least critiquing organised religion is a good thing in my book. Religion is a conflicting mass of contradictory propaganda. It's like supporting a football team over and above the spirit of the game for its own sake. That's probably a crap analogy, but the best I can come up with right now. lol Don't we all have a faith of one sort or another? Even if not in 'god'. Best I can come up with that fits me is a faith in the process of life. (That doesn't preclude the possibility of a further type of life after this one) That may seem vague, but to me it has nothing whatsoever to do with organised religion. Religion is an abuse of faith. Anyway, based on this ep I'm not sure what Moffat's position is, because as usual he's trying (and failing) to be clever, and say too many things at once.

Tharries was on Points of View today defending the show
Because of course they'd pluck one of the sell-outs who has ramps named after him, and gets invited to parties

He's just one of those YouTube hacks who have nothing interesting to say about the show and pretend everything's going swimmingly even though the wider cultural conscience doesn't give a shit about DW anymore.

I don't know him at all, but in all honesty it is funny watching people try and spin these viewers as being in any way okay. "Oh no it's I Player viewers haven't been released yet" Yeah I'm sure with I Player it will get ten million. Meanwhile it didn't chart on Disney plus yesterday and is only at number 7 today, 3 down from last week (which is also the first time it was in the top ten since last week for one day.) RTD sacrificed its viewers in the UK and only achieved the most marginal success on Disney Plus. A very bad gamble.

As long as D+ don't release their numbers, we'll have these sods lording it over us that we don't have the complete picture. Let's be f*cking honest, no UK viewers are watching it on Disney, so when the iPlayer figures come in in a few days, we'll get the nationwide results. Internationally it really doesn't matter. It'll do peanuts in the States. It always has done. Maybe 1M at best.

Consolidated 7+ figures are in for Space Babies 4 million. Is that good or bad? I have no clue what's considered good or bad these days.

Consolidated 7+ figures are in for Space Babies 4 million. Is that good or bad? I have no clue what's considered good or bad these days. For pure iPlayer figures, it's exceptionally good, but 6.6m in total is still only a moderate start to a season.

The only justification they have for overnights being poor is that fewer people watch live tv these days, so rather than compare it to overnights, we should compare one night for old who to 7 day I Player views for new who. However now even with the fiddled viewers it is only getting 4 million? That was considered crisis level back in Colin and Sylv's time and this is the season premier.
