Who GAF. The Guardian. Already heard enough. It would be ANY media outlet these days. Even if Jon is my personal favourite, Tom should be number one for all time.

Even I'd put Tom in the #1 spot, and I consider over half of his run to be completely voided (seasons 15-18) in that decision. He's just that good in 12-14.

It's pretty silly to have Jodie come higher than Davison and Colin. That said, I'm pleased to see McCoy not get undeserved bashing this time round.

McCoy rarely gets a bashing nowadays because hipsters just love his era. Even Colin has had a bit of a Renaissance of sorts, with a decent chunk of fans considering season 22 to be pretty good.

The only thing that really annoys me is Pertwee's ranking, but then he's the kind of Doctor modern hipsters and would-be-intellectuals of our time would hate.
I really don't understand this whole "pro-establishment" thing people go on about with his era. Yes he works for UNIT but their united nations not the British Government. The establishment is constantly trying to f*ck over both the Doctor and UNIT in multiple stories, it just that the UNIT has to abide by the Law, even when it corrupt. The THird Doctor is constantly railing against the red tape he has to deal with, both on modern earth and in other places, and at worst you could say he begrudgingly accepts things from time to time.
Honestly Pertwee is one of the founding pillars of Doctor Who, I go so far as to argue that if it wasn't for his era being as good as it was, the show might have ended with him. He's also a brilliant Doctor and one of the most unique.

It promoted a socialist future and featured strong roles for women and minorities decades before other shows would, but because it and Pertwee's main characters both speak in posh English voices and are a bit upper class that's enough for them to be labelled right wing, imperialistic propaganda. That's it. The most shallow interpretation imaginable, but what else would you expect from people like Grant Morrison and Paul Cornell.

I'm someone who thinks a more left-leaning economical model would be beneficial for society, but unfortunately it comes combo-packed with the crazy gender and race stuff.

That's just what the elites want us to think, hence why it's often been people who are against a left leaning economic model like Tony Blair and Hillary Clinton that have pushed identity politics. Hell they f*cking created them. Sadly however as people these days are so tribal about politics (even more so than before) a lot of people on both sides come to think that's true, particularly in the sci fi fandom. It annoys me no end seeing all of these critics of modern neo liberal genre series like Chibnall era who call Chibnall a Marxist.

Could be worse, but Pertwee below Capaldi is criminal. And Hartnell, McCoy and Eccleston should all rank above Tom

I'm sorry but no one is above Tom Baker. The man is and always will be the foremost cultural image of Doctor Who.
