Pearl-clutching, pure f*cking pearl-clutching. Mary Whitehouse is still in the nursery compared to this lot.

Also I'm sorry if it sounds mean but Ncuti Gatwa has such a stupid face. His look and voice really get under my skin for some reason.

God help him if he ever sits through a Star Wars film. Or a Bond film. “And I had problems with that- of associating gunfire with fantasy. And trust me, there’s a very long tradition of this.” I think this thread should be bumped on every occasion his subsequent episodes feature lasers or gunfire.

Is it true that Davies is doing a musical episode? I suppose this rules out Return of the Gunfighters then?

Is it true that Davies is doing a musical episode? I suppose this rules out Return of the Gunfighters then? I wouldn’t personally know. My interest in the current series only escalates when Davies says or does something truly f*ckwitted beyond all proportion- which I assume is often, but it’s caught my attention most explicitly here and with Davrosgate. I might perk my interest again when the next series starts, just so I can pinpoint how many lasers and “problematic villains” he accidentally inserts…

Even the r/doctorwho subreddit is calling out Davies for being hysterical. He's filmed 2 seasons in advanced and I think he's just twiddling his thumbs at this point, so ends up fighting these battles that don't really exist in the first place just for something to do. Like, it's pretty obvious that Julian Bleach wasn't in Davros get-up because they couldn't be arsed for one poxy little special. But Davies retroactively progressified it because he wanted to generate press.

I hate to say it Russell, but when I went to school kids pretended to shoot each other in the playground. It was a game called Cops & Robbers. We all knew it was a game. I've never thought the sonic looked anything like a gun. He's literally the only person I've seen point this out.

In fact, I played Doctor Who in the playground too. We always pretended to fire off rounds against others who pretended to be Cybermen.
Do you really expect kids just to sit there and play the hand-clapping game instead of using their imagination?

With a background like that, you must have murdered a few people by now... Surely Davies himself is the one responsible for the sonic's "gun-like" redesign and it being brandished as a weapon..? The original sonic never even remotely resembled one. This is high comedy at this point. Children can tell the difference between reality and fantasy. If Davies can't then that would explain why his notion of science fiction is so mundane and shot through with conformist politics. And now he's brazenly spouting the sort of reactionary crap that creatively hobbled Doctor Who in 1977. At this point i'm just waiting for him to come out and finally admit that his political stance is just slightly to the right of Laurence Fox...
