I never understood where Fathead came from, it is hilarious though Rob pretty much owns and originated most of the lexicon of piss-takery. I literally can't go anywhere now, online or in real life, without referring to the Moffat Daleks as 'Fatleks', or the NuWho Silurians as 'Titlurians'. They're embedded for life now. 😆 Personally I think nothing of using 'Nc*nti' or any of the other Viz style nicknames. It's strand of irreverent humour that existed before the Hive, but has been adapted for use on a Dr Who forum where the original membership, of which Rob is one, had a peNchant 😉 for this type of humour.

As a gay person, I'm so sorry about these people, I can assure you there's a good proportion of us who are completely embarrassed of them

A gay man produced the real show for 9 years and gave us Fenric, Remembrance, our very own Sophie Aldred, and Survival. Plus a gay guy helped to cast William Hartnell. Meanwhile straight guys gave us Missy, the Timeless Children, Jodie, the hybrid retcon etc. You're fine. RTD meanwhile is one of these guys that honestly, he so narcissistic if he wasn't gay, he'd obsess over some other part of his persona. He already does that over being Welsh. Some people are like that, they just can't get over themselves, it's not a gay thing at all. Of course don't get me wrong I'm not saying you should hide being gay, and yes a lot of people do write what they know. JNT for instance was arguably more flamboyantly gay than RTD. However again when it comes to other people's characters, then it's not good to have that mindset and ultimately JNT didn't.

Certainly enough to know that what you're saying is true.

It's starting to reach Star Trek: Discovery levels of embarrassing The final frontier of shitty TV shows. I think calling a female character "Michael" is possibly the most embarrassing thing to be done in one of these hack reboots. We haven't topped that yet, but it's getting close.

Certainly enough to know that what you're saying is true. Gay actors who would have made fantastic Doctors off the top of my head. Geoffrey Bayldon. I know he was considered for the first Doctor and whilst I'm glad Hartnell got it, Bayldon honestly would have done just as good a job. He is one of my favourite old cult actors. His performance in Asylum, with that horrifying laugh at the end scared the shit out of me as a child. Patrick Cargill whose performance as Number 2 in Hammer Into Anvill, is one of the greatest guest performances in any genre show I've ever seen. It's up there with Michael Wisher as Davros. Jon Glover. Even though he is an American and people are opposed to them having anything to do with DW. (Which I think is pathetic, when you consider how the British have f*cked up the franchise.) I don't know I've always got a bit of a Doctor vibe from him? Maybe it was just his wonderful mane as Lionel Luthor LOL. I can see him bringing a lot of edge to the character. Not like the faux 12th Doctor, macho shit of getting needlessly angry and rude to someone, but then pussying out and apologizing for having genitals. I mean he could be quite a dark, manipulative, ruthless Doctor. Meanwhile my favourite choice for the role prior to his stroke, Tim Curry, well nobody knows if he's gay or not? He is very private, but there have been rumours that he is bisexual. Honestly Curry is one of these guys that you can't tell. On the one hand he could just be what he seems, a campy guy who loves musical theatre and has never married LOL, or he could be one of these old actors from the 70s who seems camp but shagged his way around, like John Hurt LOL. I loved that about the 70s. Still either way all of these actors would have been great Doctors, because regardless of whether they liked guys or women, they embodied the old, stuffy, but charismatic, professorial, naturally eccentric, striking looking qualities that are essential for the Doctor. Sadly RTD, for a man whose whole thing is normalizing homosexuality is basically making out with this farce that the gay Doctor automatically has to be a flaming stereotype of a gay man.

No, it's when they showed a montage of Pike's original appearance in TOS, and the editing team went out of their way to make that show looks as stupid and ridiculous as possible to contrast with the 'mature and modern' Discovery. Absolute rock bottom in Star Trek history.

My head hurts reading this. He says it like it's really rad or something, but it just sounds like some warped fantasy of someone who has absolutely no idea about the series or the character.

Absolute rock bottom in Star Trek history. They really did themselves a disservice. The deep, rich, vibrant colours and great original music contrasted against the flat, lifeless visuals of the new one with a generic humdrum soundtrack.
