The omnibus is a trimmed version of the special edition. I'm quite sure what they were thinking with that. On the plus side, there's an hour of serene shots of Windsor Castle on a cloudy day in 1988. The cameraman managed to get some footage of Concorde, too. This stuff is like a gateway into the past. Yeah but you could take care of that with a handful of postcards and a copy of Timeflight... On this Blu ray features Time-Flight. Also featuring is a Concorde documentary which happens to be the same thing as the main feature. That's not all because there's an "inside Concorde" behind the scenes feature which, again, can be found by watching the story itself. Don't forget "create your own shit Concorde model" which, and this is the clever bit, is included within the main feature itself! You don't even need the right materials. Simply pause the disc, get some old newspaper and make your own aircraft! It's bound to look better.

Hey, don't knock it; Boeing got a lot of mileage out of this approach to construction...

The Greatest Show in the Galaxy - Special Edition
This is probably the least jarring of the special editions I've seen thus far. The new effects are subtle and only Parts 1 and 3 have new material in them. The extended scenes enhance the surreal atmosphere and give Captain Cook some more quality dialogue. I enjoyed this version a lot.

What's the new Patrol like? I was very impressed by it. The effects are actually better here. They're not in your face, but they help in making Terra Alpha feel much larger (and more deserted) than ever before. The extended scenes are a great addition too. After watching them all I can say this is easily the best of the special editions. The story itself has always been incredibly underrated.

A scene involving the Kandyman was shared on Reddit and there were the usual tiresome and predictable "wow not hard to see why it was cancelled lolz" comments. What's wrong with the Kandyman anyway? An aberration of the Master singing "Hey Mickey" and dropping down from the sky like Mary Poppins deserves her own evening and the shite goblin song ends up in the charts, but a robot executioner who gleefully murders people with sweets in an oppressive "be happy" society is where the show went too far. I just can't figure it out anymore.

an oppressive "be happy" society Given the critical ethos encompassing most Doctor Who related online forums, perhaps this characteristic hits too close to home?

My one criticism of Happiness Patrol is that it's a bit of a retread of the ideas from Paradise Towers, complete with a happiness catchphrase
